Rough one is 35k now on FB which is still probably at least 10k too much.

Indeed, my thoughts too.

It’s even the right colour for Sreten of M539 Restorations to sweep in and save it

3 years outside and not been run seems crazy to me, already at $15k in this market is crazier still

hmmm, if I was the vendor, I'd be a little worried about the bidding by the zero-rated "Jay from Hamilton", first registered as a Trade Me member in January 2025...

That is so sad! Why just leave it outside to cook for years... Particularly if you've paid thousands to have the chain guides done 🤔

Yes, indeed. I recently resuscitated an e60 M5 that had been stored in a shed for 3 years, mostly out of the elements, and that was bad enough!

There's been a few significant weather events in AKL region over the last 3 years. A combination of intense rain and beating sun can't be great.

But, for the right price...🤔

At 20k with nearly a month to run...

At $20k, it would be worthwhile for the vendor to purchase a new battery and get it running!

Sweepstake on where it will get to?

$20k already seems a little crazy... Not saying it should but mid 30's?

17 owners for this. That steering wheel needs to get in the sea as well

The original might be in the boot? Also what are those seats? Haven't seen that style before.

Comfort seats, not as sexy as the sport seats.

News to me but seems to be true. I thought my car had Sport seats because the spec sheet doesn't list Comfort seats. I have seen spec sheets that listed Comfort seats.  On the up side, the M5board calls these Luxury seats😀

These are not comfort seats. There were 3 style of seats available with the E39 m5. Heritage leather is what appears here… vertical stitching. It was presented as a premium option and often in the day came with wood trim. The ‘Barry basic’ option available was the sports seats in ostrich pattern style leather… often came with titanium trim. These days the most popular option. The other option was comfort seats- totally different style.
this car originally had fine wood trim and being a pre LCI had a different sat nav screen and different steering wheel. Phones gone too.

I actually prefer these "Heritage" seats to the standard sports seats, and a whole lot more than the "comfort" seats. Seems to accentuate the whole luxury supercar sedan thing, esp. with the wood trim.
I've driven the Christchurch European blue e39 M5, and can confirm that the "comfort" seats fitted to that particular car do no favours in terms of looks and support. And we're not even that comfortable.

I found it interesting that as soon as the auto bid of $19,999.99 from zero-rated "Jay from Hamilton" was exceeded by the $20k bid, the vendor posted a reminder comment that this was a $1 reserve, as-is sale and that "ANYTHING or EVERYTHING can be wrong with this car"

Almost as if they were surprised (and possibly nervous?) that the bidding had reached that level?

One thing I have noticed though- the ‘Ostritch sports leather’ is one of the most durable Bmw seats ever made.. have seen so many examples with inter- galactic miles still looking sensational.

Comfort seats are easy to spot - no extendable thigh bolster which the other two kinds did have.

@paulo would not be surprising to uncover a relationship between 'Jay from Hamilton' and the vendor. I wonder if he is a real estate agent...

Oh I might be able to get myself a deal here if it stays around $20K.

No.  No you probably won't.

I suspect this’ll land somewhere just shy of $30k

if he’d have put in in a shed - or at worst under a car cover, he’d be looking at mid 30’s?
