This was on trademe for 2.5k not long ago in Christchuch iirc. Guessing he's added on his expenses to the price with some profit. Paint\panel are poor (it had a major respray patch failure on the left rear quarter if memory serves). All this guy has done is take pictures in the dark to hid the fact along with a weak ass description rather present it how it is.

I have been slowly warming up to the idea of open-pore, non-glassy wood trim in cars. It looks super great in the X5, and I am kind-of over the glossy wood idea on premium sports cars. So, I found a black wood grain textured vinyl and proceeded to wrap the 6-er's wood trim. Not my first time doing a wrap, but first time using a heat gun whilst wrapping and boy does it make a world of difference. The Vinyl is super easy to mold around curves and corners. Anyway, pics attached. Let me know what you think ?

Think it would be quite a process and from what I’ve been reading with my own car project ( 63 mini race car without vin) there are quite a few stages) from memory if 60 percent of the original 2002 is present then its modification . The key would be use a car that’ can be proved to have been registered and on the road. Using s 2002 would mean some of the impact and airbag rules might not apply. if it’s beyond 60% then your building a low volume scratch built car which in some ways is a easier Cert process. However, the rules around almost every aspect of the modifications apply. i thing the key to the project would be around any welding carried out to be done by a certified welder with careful consideration as to how the body / chassis/ suspension came together. A low volume Certifier would be required every step along the way. The key to the project is making sure that you can get a vin or re-entry vin line of sight sorted. Otherwise you may build it and find you can’t re vin the vehicle ( I’m stuck at this stage with trying to returning a old race car with no vin onto the road) Id probably start with posting a how would I go about this and get the lower volume car constructor manual for the current regulations. Would be a cool project https://m.facebook.com/LVVTA/

Me, none, PO did it. Never bothered with Nav (outdated Nav vs phone, no point) but Radio and Idrive is converted and seems fine. Edit: Should clarify when I say I've never bothered with Nav I mean I've never used it, I'll check tomorrow if its NZ English.

A little of rust brewing under the boot seal that i treated and painted on the M5. The subi got a whole heap of bodywork repairs done while the M5 watched.

Forgot about that. Looked like a good base for restoration despite its roughness and LHD.

Factory manuals, probably the sport models are the ones worth spending on as long as they aren't too far gone. Mechanical wise they still cheap to fix in my book compared an overhaul on the newer models, but yeah wouldn't want to pay anyone to do that due to labor costs. I do wonder what happens to that white Naghi motors M5 that was bought by someone here recently.

Yeah, thats a bit more complicated and programmery than i can manage. Will see if IU can track down one of the clever mods to look into that one!

There's a company called Pack and Send, their name says it all really, and can sort it out if you give them dimensions and an address. Good luck and let me know how you go, I've got some super rare bbs rs which I'm refinishing at the moment that will likely end up going overseas

I agree Rob. But the owners and most of the admin don't seen to give a sh*t anymore unless it suits them apart from Jon. I've tried negotiating this previously and got nowhere . It's also a reason why we have lost so many knowledgeable and professional members and have now got all the copy and post know all's strutting there finger skills

Hi everyone, Haven't posted on here in a long while - but just wanted to let you all know of a fellow BS member who sadly passed away in the mosque tragedy on Friday. Atta Elayyan, known on here as 'crazyarab' has been named as one of the people killed at the Al Noor mosque. He was a regular contributor to the forums since 2007 - many of our long standing Christchurch members knew him and his cars well. The last BMW he owned was this E30 V8. He also previously owned an E36 M3 and a silver Tech II M325i, all which sported the number plate 'CRZARB' Atta was a talented software developer, a member of the All Whites Futsal team, and has a young family. I'm sure you will all join me in sending condolences to his family and friends. Incredibly sad news. - Mark.
