We are planning a get-together of E31 owners to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the start of 8-series production - in Sept 1989. At this stage we're looking for all the E31 cars and owners we can muster, and more as well. The venue and date will most likely be Hampton Downs some time in mid-November this year. All other BMW owners are also invited to join in the festivities, which could include a track afternoon, show n' shine and BBQ. Anyone who is keen to join us can register their interest via email to: [email protected] Will also keep you up to date from time to time via this thread.

Not much on the 'Project Front' but have got planned and Engine & Trans service soon.. She is running fantastically and just purring into everything I ask of her! Having loads of fun. Popping new lower control arm bushes in has improved the handling side by leaps and bounds. A rear speaker has gone, so will investigate wiring to fix that part up.. Here are some recent shots, and had some fun with mates testing location spot for the meet I held Even got my other plate out (it sits in waiting for the M3

Specs here: http://www.beastpower.com/p/bmw/vf-engineering-supercharger/VF-BE39-540-SC-S1 Looks like this installed: I have all parts and belts (to fit an E39 540i) but am missing the pod filter - though you'd probably want a new one anyway. The charger is used but has only done around 30,000kms. MattA's done some checking and it require a fair bit of modification to fit an M60 but not impossible. It currently lives in my office: Looking for offers over $5K.

I meant black grills not wheels. I think black grills suit any black model bmw regardless of wheel style or colour. Current wheels look fine as is. Would look silly painted black. I just meant that there is a lot of silver showing due to the design of the wheels

Nice looking car ! , If you do go black I'd go with gloss / shadow chrome to match the trim. In terms of seats the lumber bag can be retrofitted with what looks like largely bolt in. Hardest part appears to be cutting a tidy hole in the area where the control switch fits. Seen these s/hand on ebay from time to time. Stereo wise , check www.bavsound.com for drop in options. A lot can be said for drop in components (trust me , saves lots of time). Otherwise I'd be inclined to just swap the tweeter and 6x9 subs and still run the HK mids and mid bass.

Haha I've seen worse. This was from this morning in traffic. Normally average around 16-16.5 tho, this is a fresh reset.

Right, so had some presents show up today. Finally got the first lot of bits for my Vanos rebuild, all the way from Germany thanks to my local dealer. Gaskets, bolts, updated solenoid seals, just the usual. What im more excited about, is getting my ADS diagnostic cable. Ive got all the other OBD cables, but as the M3 is old, it doesnt confirm to OBDII, only some OG OBDI system. Got it all hooked up and set up on my $30 trademe special Dell laptop with a dedicated serial port and holy crap, it works! Checked codes, a couple there for the missing O2 sensors as expected, and no others, YAY. Running proper BMW DIS software. Its slow, but works.

The m52 has other things done to it. But I can't see why a standard 318 with a m52 in it wouldn't pass cert. Any mongol can get in a car drunk and do 200kph and kill people, it doesn't have to be modified to do that. The media will report any story and sensationalise it. Obviously the Honda didn't have a cert, how is making car modifications harder for the people who want to do things legally going to help? Its like making tougher gun control laws..... The criminals already have illegal guns with the current laws.... The country is run by f**kwits.

Damn! If i hadnt just spent all my pocket money on a manual conversion i would be very keen! How much faster is your office now that its supercharged?

My comment about certifying was not intended to mean "don't worry about getting a cert", using factory parts - rather than those that have to be fabricated to suit, makes the whole certification process easier. There is no need for engineering certificates and drawings, or certification of welds, etc. both of which take time and cost money. I will double check the rules as to whether it removes the need for a cert at all in some situations. It was certainly not intended to encourage anyone to ignore the law, either by accident or design, more to make the OP aware that there can be more of a process involved with putting some engines into an E30 as opposed to others.

Haven't updated this in a while - some new bits have arrived & been installed New carbon fiber steering wheel trim. Fitting it was a bit tricky, with the torx screws located behind the airbag assembly. Can do a separate write-up on this if you need. Replaced fog lights with projectors and new housings. Old vs. new: Added a set of brake duct surrounds The purists are going to hate this one. Added new black corner lights

Probably gonna end up in the burns unit for this one, but how about a vtec engine? something like a k20 from the last gen integra or s2000. possibilities to go FI with it too. or even the b series engine fab'd for rwd config. Or a 4g63t. Very popular and easy engine for making power, but maybe not so much for originality factor.
