If you want to play with a clutch by an old 3 series. B5 is an Autobahn Stormer. Drving around in an E55 AMG with the big supercharger there is no way you could have a manual and be able to drive it in a manor that is A: Respectable B: Not going backwards through peoples houses towing their fence and pets with you. I can imagine the B5 would be very similar.

Okay, so ive now resorted to one last thing to get the bolt out before i remove the front end of the car to gain access.... JB welding a 5mm hex socket into the bolt. I stuck it in there yesterday and left it to set overnight and its gone pretty solid. Ive just put another layer on tonight and will try to crack the bolt tomorrow evening (about 48 hours to dry the first lot). In the mean time i decided to have a go at the shifter and handbrake boots that i have sitting around. I pulled the knob off, and removed the boots. Im retaining the old knob for now, and will replace it later. The old boots are ugly, hard, grey leather. Not good to look at or feel. The replacement ones are soft, and gloss black. Both have M stitching. My original boots were glued or melted to the frame, so i had to cut them off. Once they were off, it was a simple case of stretching the elastic on the boot around the frame and then wedging it into place. They look good, and i cant wait to get the car out of the garage and into the light.

Returned car to my DD after the trip to Taupo, changed brake pads, changed boot lid. Checked rotors even though they looked fine with some thermal cracking of course no nail catchers Then put the calipers on them, bugger close to the min thickness so did the change

So true. The Mrs carries a set of coil packs in the boot of her 200sx at all times. They like to melt.

It's one of three built to that spec that still survive. We worked on it last year for the previous owner, a very good friend of mine. He was a member here and has just recently passed away. I have quite a few pictures of it here at the time and few lucky people got to see it and under it

The guy who had it restored back to new condition fell on hard times and unfortunately it fell into holding companies arms. It then bounced around between various owners as the luster wore off with most car purchases. To a collector its probably worth around 60-70k .. but there are only a few in this country and even few that want a cab. So it falls into the default m3 sale prices. Even though its one of the best examples in the world.

yes going to a G4 but only looking at inlet cam at this stage. From what I've been reading theres not much to be gained on this engine from playing with the exhaust cam, more of a emissions thing. If we keep this car for long enough the b22 will be replaced for a b30 and all this work will be worth it.

Update: Dropped the car into Bellars to do a smoke test on the inlet, as there is lots of reports of lost power due to vacuum leaks on these aging cars. The good news is that there was only minor leaks around #1 and #6, and at a level that it would not affect anything. Mostly around the two trumpet seals. The bad news! Well i consider it good news, as I've avoided disappointment during a race. The CPU has logged a 'Vanos Retard valve' error, and essentially had a stuck vanos solenoid. With a ECU actuation process it unstuck itself and is now working ok. The car is now idling much smoother (no wonder with vanos stuck to high rev mode). However I'm not confident that this is a permanent fix, so i'm now committed to a vanos de-install and refurb by Dr Vanos in the US. Will get this done once the cage is in. Also... So much for my prior inspections, as the rear trailing arm bush (upper) is stuffed apparently. Glad I found that now. Will get another OEM M3 bush for it next. PS. Bellars were very good and i see why people like them.

How much for the gearknob, brake fluid reservoir cap and dash cluster? Where are you based?
