2 pointsHave you ever considered that not everybody wants an over complicated answer about their car's components and wants something in lamens terms that everybody understands? Not everyone has such biased views like you, so calling other people's comments simplistic, subjective, and meaningless isn't really appropriate

2 pointsMore updates - it's been a busy week for the M. Needless to say I was ecstatic to find my shipment from the states was ready for collection on Monday morning. George kindly got my new Supersports fitted on the apex wheels by the afternoon and I was itching to leave work so I could fit them. Also part of the shipment was my CSL bootlid. I got this for a good price so I wasn't expecting it to be perfect. It took a bit of work to get it fitted (thanks to George again) but the end result is pretty good. Coilovers should be going in Saturday fingers crossed. Here's how it's looking at the moment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointstill buzzing from the M power day yesterday. Far far exceeded expectations. 12 people attended the afternoon session. 15min chat / history of the M car etc while sipping on a short black (thanks BMW) followed by a 45min road test swapping cars every 15mins, driving the 2015 M3 (sedan), 2015 M4 (coupe), and 2015 235i M. Took us in a huge convoy through the country roads out behind mercer/hampton downs area, some sweet tight corners and awesome roads. got back and split into 2 groups, one for the track and one for the skid pan. I went on the track first, in pairs, and played follow the instructor (who was actually driving nice and fast), and did 4 x 90% pace laps in each of the 3 cars (so 12 laps driving, 12 laps passenger) with the passenger (no helmets or anything ! - so didn't mess up my hair). The new M cars are crazy fast!!! especially in the handling/braking department. They changed the back straight into a slalom course which was cool. Then we swapped and went to skidpan. This time only the 2 M cars were on the skidpad (wet), I'd never driven on the pad before, jesus that sh*t is slippery. We each did laps of this large circle. 1 lap with full traction control, then a few laps in M dynamic mode traction control (little slides - people were spinning out lol). Then like 10 mins with traction control fully off. Guy challenged anyone who could do a full loop sideways to win a prize - apparently only one person had done it before, some rally driver. So sure enough that was my focus, was actually harder than I thought but managed to achieve it in the end haha! DRIFT 4 LYF. After the skidpad all 12 drivers would again, in pairs, have a 250m drag race competition but not allowed to use launch control - with the top 3 getting a hot lap with the BMW race driver guy. I chose the new M4 (coupe) thinking it would be the fastest car. Managed to come 3rd in that. Surprisingly the 2 fastest times were both in the 235i and both drivers just put it in automatic and just floored it lol. Then the BMW race driver guy took us for some full speed hot laps, 4 deep (first time during the day we have to wear a helmet). I wasn't expecting much, but this guy was fast, and was power sliding everywhere. Super fun. Overall - what an awesome day! literally got the drive these new M cars properly, including 2nd gear limiter bashing on the skid pad, full race mode on the track hitting apexs and HEAVY brakes etc. I assumed it would be a fairly tame day, but it was the polar opposite. Excellent job BMW!!!!!!

1 pointYeah, I only paid $750 for the car and the auto is fine. I'd pay $1200 if someone else was going to do the conversion!!

1 pointJust to bump this thread. A lot has gone on, I had to rebuild the motor again (two pistons cracked) and this time did it myself, suffice to say its running a lot better now, compression tests are up to around the 210psi mark, up from 180-190 that the last build got. Big thanks to M3AN on the forum for letting me rent your timing tools, I will replace the pin I bent after this weekend is over Now making some really good power at the wheels, 310rwhp to be exact, it's also making over 300rwhp from 6000-7500rpm which is primo. There are heaps of pics on the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/bmw303 and I put little updates a lot of the time. We are racing this weekend in the 6 hour enduro, live feed will be live.hamptondowns.com - I will be having a live in car feed as well.

1 pointHi team, I need some help, ive tried a few different wreckers and im unable to find the below level sensor for the drivers side rear, Number on the sensor is - 1 093 698 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=DP52&mospid=47558&btnr=33_0530&hg=33&fg=50 Part#15 Level Sensor. Vehicle, BMW E39 Touring 99' SLS Rear, SLS is inactive and i found that the link arm had snapped so i assume this is the culprit. Trying to replace the link so i can get her roadworthy again I tried Brent at BMWorld but no luck there, are there any decent wreckers around Wellington region? Thanks.

1 pointDon't think Tom will be jealous... He's one of the very few people on here who can actually afford to buy one of these cars, so it's probably us that should be green. What he will be is unsurprised. He hasn't been overly impressed with the dealers' service over the years.

1 pointglad it's winter! I had some work colleagues bring this stuff back for me .. so it came in bits and pieces .. couldnt wait to hear that induction noise (which is awesome) so I chucked the intake in. I should get the box next week and I'll do the install properly. unfortunately, the system was designed to fit a non-HID headlight system, so it is a bit of a squeeze. When it's done properly, it will look like this: (except without the sensor controller thing for cruise control? or traction control?)

1 pointWith all due respect I'll buy what my budget allows. And if that means buying reps so I can get put more money into other aspects that's what I'll do. Genuine or Replica they're better than what's currently on it

1 pointUpdate time: Took the e30 for its first drive in anger in almost 2 years, managed to turn a 1:12.8 on lap 3 of the first session with a few niggles still to iron out. Then spent the day tweaking the car to make it easier to drive at those times rather than it feeling on edge. Dan still has a bit of time to cut off, but his corner speeds are similar so its just a matter of him getting a few clean laps together in order to get my times. At the head of the day I was hitting consistent 1:12.9's with no rear brakes (had to push all bias to front as we ran out of rear pad), so with new slicks, rear brakes and all the niggles fixed, I reckon we can maintain 1:12's all day at Hampton, possibly even lower when the car is fresh. Car has a tendency of over-steer so will drop the rear sway bar link at the next track day and then use more toe out to correct that under-steer and give better turn in. Going to be interesting to see what we can get down to at Puki in 2 weeks with all the problems ironed out. Bonus for the day was finding out we may be able to fill 120L in 30 seconds, so gone are the days of an 8min pitstop Car has never look so together before A quick video of how the car handles in the cold / warm / hot:

1 pointIt's finally back together after a year on jack stands and is looking pretty tuff, I have done a fair bit of maintenance (off the top of my head): Rebuilt the Motor with OEM spec parts - It already makes enough power so there was no need to increase fuel consumption and reduce reliability with go fast bits. Rebuilt Front Calipers Straightened the wheel base (it was 1cm shorter on the LHS previously which caused a heap of problems) Replaced front cross-member and added metal to where it should mount (it had rusted away) Replaced Engine/Gearbox/Diff/Brake/Clutch/Power Steering Oil Replaced Front and Rear rotors Fitted Z3M Diff cover Fitted light weight flywheel and replaced pressure plate etc. Fitted headlights (looks far less like a bastard child) Fitted bonnet vent (engine bay was getting over pressurized causing the bonnet to lift) Painted odd bits such as the front bumper Urethaned the engine and shifter mounts Moved the engine back slightly. Given everything a thorough clean There are still a few loose ends to tie up but for the most part its ready to race in the north island enduro's this winter. In the coming weeks the car will be sporting a bimmersport livery on part of the car
