Hey Guys, Just thought I would let you know about the great service I got from this guy. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Listings.aspx?member=1969570 His name is Kerry and he has repaired my instrument cluster and mid for my E38.My mid was doing the usual pixels are gone and it was a get around to it thing. The cluster lights on the second row stopped functioning and then the stepper motor on the speedo failed showing a maximum speed of 40km so I had to have something done. Auto sparky told me it would be 4 weeks and around $800.00 - $1000.00 for the repairs. I found him on Trademe and after a quick chat I boxed it all up and sent it to be repaired. The service has been excellent, he has sent me pictures showing the issues within the units, progress images as they have been repaired, and the completed repair images. The turn around has been 4 DAYS! Including overnight couriers in both directions! The repairs completed were New mid led and bulbs, New resistors in instrument cluster lighting circuit, All stepper motors replaced in the instrument cluster, 3 new bulbs in instrument cluster. Total cost including shipping was $360.00 with a 12 month warranty If you need some work done on this part of your car I thoroughly recommend talking to him. He is based in Christchurch. Pm me if you want his contact details. Cheers

Experience and self preservation usually tend to come with age unfortunately. Scientifically proven that the electrical connections in the brain that create associations of consequences with acts are not developed in young males.

It dulls it significantly and looks shite as soon as it chips. Much better to leave bare metal and polish with something like autosol and keep it well waxed as Josh/Martin have both suggested IMO.

Seems like I've been dominating this thread lately... To many slackers round here/ non broken bmws. Right! So this weekend, put new HnR sport springs in the m3, new rear slotted rotors, waiting on correct fronts to come. new bushes for clutch and brake pedals so no more slop, FINALLY!!!!!!!! Finished sanding the other style 5s and have been picked up for professional polishing at $30 a wheel so can't complain with that! Also part way through vanos rebuild, vanos unit is all done bar the Teflon seal on the exhaust side that pinched and cut the side off while going in, ughhh! Waiting to hear from beisan about a replacement. Tomorrow night will be rattle repair as shafts are quite sloppy but can only go so far as forgot to order diaphragms and plates from the stealer so that's tomorrow mornings job. Beat that!!!!

In the E60 you need to look for the BT module. Have a google for what it looks like. It is behind the trim in the boot. I think left hand side. Easy to pull it all out to have a look. If you car is older than 2005 you prob don't have BT. You can retro it but it is a bit of effort and does require programming. Anyone who knows how to program using NCSExpert can enable it. If you AUX is not enabled you could do this too.

Take the tyres off the rims too, that will get it even closer to the ground.. P.S. have passed your name, pic and rego WY6507 onto my buddy who just happens to be a patrol cop in your area... he reckons that it will be heading to the crusher if it is found on the road like that. knuckledragger

That would be "Shuey" on his way down from the north to Hampton Downs. Number plate on the E30 is "DID IT2", lol.

That is one of the saddest things, I think I've ever read. I pity you. I imagine, like other people who have given up on life, that you also wear crocs.

Tobias you are an absolute toss pot. You're an idiot for coming on a BMW forum with only one mind for 7 series and insulting everybody else and their pride and joy, oh and not to mention cracking the most pathetic joke of somebody who has passed away, you sir, have no decent manner of anything left in your head. You progressed to being banned off multiple Facebook Groups because of your incapable comprehension of respect and decency, and I'm just waiting for you to destroy your reputation on here.. Oh wait, you already have.

I can't claim to own this one, but I did clean it up & take the pics I took this picture to try to illustrate what can go 'wrong' when someone machine polishes a vehicle without a clear understanding of the process. (Or are forced to work to an unrealistic deadline or budget) At this stage, I have already corrected the front door, but the rear door shows heavy "buffer trails" from overly aggressive machining without refinement. (as well as regular swirl marks & scratches) All too often, paint defects such as these are simply disguised/covered with a coat of wax before the vehicle leaves the dealer or car wash, with the unsuspecting owner left none the wiser. (until a few washes later of course) ...but, with a little work, the panel comes up nicely Almost an "invisible car" ...faithfully reflecting just how dirty my garage door is! She was a big girl, but a stunner none the less! Cheers.
