Hi all. My name is Shaun, I am 19, and i finally am proud to own my first BMW. My car is a silver 1996 E36 328i. Inside it has Vader front and rear seats and an Msport wheel. Outside it has a full Msport body kit and sits on style 68's wrapped in GT Radial UHP1 tyres. The previous owner lowered it on super low jamex springs with stock shock, but i plan to fix that very soon. Any advise for this is very welcome. I look forward to becoming a member of this awesome community.

I was looking at a manual one of these before I bought my RX-8. Sounds like my rotary uses less oil

Likely it'd be an E46 if i went M3 again. Would love an M5 but they are still mental dollars.

Curbed my custom painted wheels cos a courier driver thought it was okay to pull out onto me. Had to swerve hard to the right to avoid him and ended up curbing both my right side wheels. Back and front so bloody gutted. Cost me a fortune to paint and refurb. I had words with the courier driver after. This will cost a fortune to fix and paint Not a common wheel colour.

If you can stretch for the drive I suggest ray@hellbm. He is on the shore near silverdale which is a hike for some but well worth the effort!

Here is some research I did when looking at N54B30xx 335 tourings. * Both Turbos, Do they exhibit turbo waste gate chatter, If so is it the waste gate actuator valve and or turbo spindle. This is a large repair if it would happen and is a common fault on all N54B30 engines 60-80ks * Coils have they been replaced, when *Plugs have they been replaced, when * Injector faults * Sump leaks, gearbox and diff leaks * Electric water pump need replacing every 50-60ks * High Pressure fuel pump replacing every 50-60ks * Oil in the intake, sooty plugs and intake manifold .. needs cleaning with walnut and vaccum. Awesome engine and performance, however do come with the issues that go with it. BMW ditched the N54 in place of the N55 single turbo design from about 03/10. Lots of design changes to fixes some of the first gen issues. My experience with pre-purchase inspections hasn't been good. Most will just tick the boxes and charge you the $160-200. Something I could have done myself. BM Workshop is the source of great information and Ross @ Botany really has had the experience to I think comment on these car now. The other dealers tech departments usually leave it up to the lackies to do the PPIs which is why I think the quality of service over the last few years has dropped.

I find it hard to believe that a HR Manager can be so stupid in this day and age. I wonder if she is still employed by the Credit Union after that $168k very public mistake?

Decided to let the pros fit this little lot as it was going to be a while before I could get a hoist to use (and convince my better half to let me spend more weekends not wining and dining her!!). The difference is outrageous.... Wow! So good. No just need to do the rear....

Famous last words. Experienced the highs and lows of DIY maintenance today. Here's the engine looking pristine and running beautifully (despite my mallet/boot strut)... Then I did something without thinking that I've done many times before - sprayed a bit of throttle body cleaner to ensure there are no vac leaks - and faaarrrrkkk!! Turns out throttle body cleaner eats powder clear coat. Here are the manifolds now... Not a pretty sight. I've tried to cut it out but got to bare metal on the raised 'ribs' in no time. Looks like the manifolds will have to come off again and go back to the powdercoater. Although it's my (costly) mistake, I'm really pissed off that the Arkro recommended a clear coat that's so susceptible to chemicals for an engine bay part. I've powdercoated without a clear and never had this problem. Ridiculous.
