Parts arrived. Forgot to order some extra critical bits though, so an extra 2 sets of vanos spring plates ordered. Vanos unit oil pump washer and circlips replaced with revision B versions. The new circlip retains more equal preasure on the washer beneath it. Have seen these end up in the oil pan.. You can see here how the pump drive has been squashing the washer and slowly eating away at it. New o-rings for the bank 1 vanos unit. The one under the 24mm socket in this pic doesn't seat nicely.. and ends up doing this if not seated correctly prior to instalment. This is the bank 2 vanos unit freshly removed : Installed the timing cover on bank 1 and removed bank 2. Not fun. bank 1 vanos unit back on. Timing set after and came out perfect after rotating the crank around for 3 cyl # 1 ignition TDC revolutions.

They should raise the age to 18 , so when lil' Johnny leaves skool at 16 he gets 2 years to save up for a Godzilla to get his license in. As we know our lawmakers know what's good for us. Their infinite wisdom has based experience on age discrimination not actual hours experience. seriously though..... They should lower the driving age to 14 years , but raise the age of car ownership [maybe to 18] and make the car owner responsible for the driver. These laws already work a treat in the finance industry when the parents co-sign or go guarantor for their brats to buy something. If they don't pay the finance co goes after the parents [with no excuses] I've seen kids taught to drive in go karts or the race track in a controlled environment that are seldom a problem when they get on the road [ they generally have better skills and control of their egos ]

Slowly getting the motor back to getter. Where is the best place to get the valley pan gasket from, Taylor auto cant get one and Coombes Johnston BMW recon I have to buy a new pan, and they have to get it from Germany $300.00 + dollars

Polished by hand. Couple of minutes each side and it was done. Have them all on the car now. Much improved from the colored lenses. Before. After.

The grey actually makes the cabin feel more spacious than it really is. Have been in a few black leather E46s and they all felt more claustrophobic!
