3 pointsGood evening. Been a 'user' on here for a while but never got around to getting a progress thread up. My name is Luke (nickname pidge) originally from Newcastle NE England now living in Wellington. Been brought up around BMs thanks to my dad. Been in NZ 3 years now and around a year ago decided it was time to buy something 'decent' I had a very strict budget and shopped around, my search left me with either a decent 1 series or a high km mk5 golf gti. Bought the car 'blind' from Auckland as got a good deal on it and 2 year warranty. Drove it back to Wellington. When we first got it home.... Wasn't long before the itch to change it started and bought some 18s 18x8.5 style 209s off an E70 X5 Then I got a little birthday present from my dad back in the UK... H&R 60/40 spring kit! Had seen internet pics of how they sat with this kit fitted and looked awesome...so glad I decided on 60/40 over the 40/30 in the end! Chucked them in and it sat like this... Since then all I have done is added 10mm spacers to the rear and driven it. Oh and had a roof rack for a week.... Haha Up in Auckland this weekend for the next 'big' progress update so keep your eyes peeled. Future plans: •Bigger spacers for the rear •Tidy up bodywork (been hit twice while parked!) •New windscreen as got a big dirty chip thanks to a truck driver in the Wairarapa. •Wheel refurb •Maybe change the wheels if I can find something 'special' and a good fit. It's Noting special but does the job and I like it! Let me know what you guys think Thanks, Pidge Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

1 pointHad another quick look at this today. Didn't drive it but started it up and gave it a once over. Someone has fitted staggered tires to it - 205 in front and 225 at the back - and the back ones dont match. Car looks straight enough - one scuff to front left corner, engine bay very clean and engine has no odd noises. Took oil cap off valve cover and it stumbled/almost stalled so appears gaskets are tight and pcv system all working properly. All pixels working and air-con working good - some dim lighting on the lower right of the instrument cluster. All self test lights (abs/airbag/engine) appearing to do what they should. Interior is blue - manual seats - but no obvious defects. They are still trying for the $4990 price tag even though I found a windscreen card in the back with $3990 on it - claiming that was a mistake. . . . . Somewhere between 3k and 4k I'm interested under 4k I might test drive - 3k Id probably buy it I think.

1 pointI've got one which I won't be using since I've just got a shitty corolla now. From memory the thread was a little tired in one spot. I can pull it out and take pictures if you like? How much are you looking to pay? Flick me an email on [email protected], I don't come on here much anymore.

1 pointI'm quite glad there's been 2 shows come out of the whole clarkson debacle. I really enjoy the dynamic the original 3 have, especially on their yearly specials etc which are absolutely hilarious, but the new hosts (especially sabine and harris) will be able to really show what the cars can do. Eagerly awaiting both shows.

1 pointTake it back and buy one from Pelican Parts or FCP Euro. OEM ones come with a new rod. Repco ones are sh*t.

1 pointwith all the millions BMW spend on R/D, do you think they ever pictured people using : grease, toilet paper, bread to remove a pilot bearing. I'll give the bread a go.

1 pointProgress is slow at the moment as we are getting to the difficult parts of the build at the moment. All the driveline parts have been mocked up, drive shaft is out being shortened and balanced at the moment. Have refreshed all bushes in the shifter with delrin and added a custom built DSSR. the shifter feel now is fantastic now to add a weighted gear knob to finish the whole setup off. Have been spending the last few weeks trying to get the new exhaust manifolds built to work around the the steering shaft and be able to have them fitted to the engine before install. Will get photos up when the extractors are completed. Fingers crossed in the next two weeks the exhaust will be completed then i can haul the engine out for the final time to refresh everything and paint the engine bay. Picked up some E38 wheels from francois and fitted with some more appropriate sized tyres fitted them up and pushed the car out of the shed to see how the final fitment will be, quite happy with how its sitting now.

1 pointIt's been a while since I've updated this thread, so here goes! Finally got the engine in and running with the help of a few mates and Ray at HellBM. Not without some hiccups along the way of course. Managed to make it to the end of year ECC meet. After driving here and home again we established that the poly mounts were over the top and decided to swap them out for rubber oem ones pronto. Next trip after was off to Hampton Downs to watch the One Hour Endurance race as part of the BMW Race Driver Series. A mighty set of scales appeared and we took this opportunity to weigh her for shits and giggles. A solid 1300kgs. Check our Keith's cheeky grin! I also established that the car could make a great tent! Up north we went to Waipu where we went camping. Not without a few problems along the way though... Overheating (ish). Thanks to Jibs who followed me back to the North Shore afterwards to make sure I got back without breaking down. New radiator hose fixed that issue. Then come Christmas holidays it was time to freshen up a few bits and pieces. Throw back to the 80s where the car finally got given a badge for the tailgate (thanks Lance - Merry Christmas) Uh oh... found a small spot of rust where the antenna is... Fixed/Cleaned up But still leaking?! Then we decided we needed to put the car to use.. what it was designed to do. Hello Hampton Downs here we come! Opened her up to see how she looked... Simon then found some sweet wheels for his race car... of course first they shall be test fitted on the Touring to see how it looks (still on their way from overseas - can't wait) Got the new springs in. Super Lows in the rear and 4cyl race series springs in the front... thoughts? The body has now clicked over the 360,000 km mark. Time to find out where this leak was coming from round the front roof area. Pulled out the headlining fearing the worst.... but pleasantly surprised to find no rust. Headlining has seen better days though! Next up, fog lights. Found some cheap very cracked ones. Found some plastic lens on the interwebs and fixed them up. Good as new. Uh oh... so this happened. Good person though for leaving a note. No sweat, prompted me to give the car a refresh. Time ti paint the bumper trimmings. The exhaust has been sitting wonky for some time so time to fix that up too. Now sits perfect with the correct brackets. Along the way we also got some nice interior throughout the last few months. Installed now and feels luxurious. Car attacked me however when installing... Also redid the side skirts, freshened them up... Found a minor imperfection just in time... Haven't got a decent picture since last weekend with the side skirts back on but here she is next to her younger but chubbier sister. Sourced a brand new OEM Sunroof panel from our friends at BMW NZ.... To be painted next week and also the rust fixed up. Once back I hope to get the headlining done ASAP as well as the car tinted. For any one who can help, I'm also after the following parts pictured below. I hope to keep you guys a little bit more updated going forward

1 pointUPDATES 24.04.2016 Been a little while again since my formal forum update (been craaaaaaazy busy) - but for those of you who have been following my social medial channels you'll probably be up to date on what the car looks like at the moment. For those who do not - here is your update! Since the last photos, I've decided to run my old clear indicators as I felt the amber lights were a little too high contrast for me - I felt this new colour combo suited the car more, so after I popped them on I decided to take a few cheeky snaps here and there. Being busy with other life stuff was putting me off working on the rear spoiler, however one of my best friends from high school got back in touch with me and reminded me he is a professional automotive painter. So without further delay, we tee'd up a weekend to get some work done on my LTW spoiler. The LTW spoiler was cracked along the top panel and I hadn't had the time to get around to fixing it and painting it. So on an early Sunday morning my friend Quinton invited me to his workplace, a panel and paint shop to show me how it's done. Watching a professional fill and bog panels/bodywork was awesome, really shows how amateur I am compared to someone like him. It was great to watch and learn how to best go about fixing things. Next up was watching him mix up the paint - pretty incredible that a colour that normally appears as 'black' (cosmoschwartz black) actually has a whole bunch of other colours in the mix! Interesting to learn and see! Next was to watch him prep, and then paint the 4 pieces of the LTW wing. It's great to show the kind of time, effort, and care painters go through to ensure a quality finish. Quinton really did an outstanding job, couldn't have done anything remotely as impressive by myself! Big props to him and allowing us to use the workshop out of hours to get it done in a morning The final product - 4 pc high rise LTW, painted, and mounted on the E36: It has been incredible to say the least, to see my car being shared on various automotive social media channels around the world. The great feedback I continue to receive is what keeps me going! Next on the list is I'm going to be looking in to making a custom rear diffuser to mount on the rear bumper ... I'll leave you with a bonus pic of her from the weekend at a friends back yard garage. Watch the forums for a new build thread which will probably be popping up for my friends new E30 project ... it'll definitely be a crowd pleaser As always, if you're interested in more immediate/day-to-day updates on the build, feel free to follow me on my social media channels as listed in my signature. P.S. - I've recently launched my website for my photography work! Check it out if you are interested haha www.JWNZofficial.com PEACE! ~Jeff

1 pointlooking at the images, the style 15's they're the beluga caviar to my perrier jouet le belle epoque. style 32's are simply Moet NV with some average fois gras, in comparison. Fois Gras and Moet is certainly nice, but beluga and vintage limited release champagne, is something else indeed. Graham, I expect you to have acquired these style 15's before next week begins, in case they vanish! Do it for humanity.... do it, for the whales and the geese!

1 pointyep, there's a clear process for landlords disposing of abandoned goods. it's a bit of a f%#king hassle to be fair; it was suggested to me by some very experienced landlords, on finding a bunch of random sh*t abandoned at my house when moving back in.... was to take the entire lot to the tip, and if anyone ever asked about it the answer was "the house was clear when I took posession as noted on the bond report; I know nothing about the property you mention". The process involves posting notices, charges for storage, and disposal after x weeks. All that for abandoned sh#t. Lazy f#cking tennants, there's stack of brown-smelling karma for them - and their back passages - too. Leaving their sh&t behind - can't they fill rubbish bags, clean up after themselves, take a trailer to the tip? /rant.

1 pointE46 M3 front floating rotor setup + Bendix M3 pads installed- Thanks Jayden. Brakes were already excellent on this car, now even better.

1 pointX5 manifolds are the easiest to use as they're a lot easier to modify but can use others, do you know where some are?
-
1 pointAh so that guy that had it here must have traded it in for something else?
