5 pointsSmall update. Have since enjoyed the sh*t out of driving this thing a hell of alot. It sure does turn heads! Some positive, some negative - people roll up their windows when I pull up beside them in town! Cosmetically all Ive done since cert is have the windows tinted to 35% by Protint in New Plymouth. Craig did an amazingly good job! Mechanically its had a bit of a tickle up.. Ive fitted an aluminium gilmer drive pulley setup, admittedly theres no need for this but I love the way it looks and sounds! Also, the open diff was not cutting the mustard and the new found power tore the old subframe bushes to pieces. I commissioned a LSD build from a forum member and ordered a Powerflex bush set from Darren at NZAD and then got to work! The car now drives so much better, particularly at speed and under acceleration. The diff is SUPER tight and will take some getting used to, but at least its predictable. I had a ball this weekend driving around, even got out at night to light up the country side with some big old flames from the exhaust! Cant wait for another sunny weekend to get out and drive this beast! Ive added some photos and a very small video that someone got today - not long, but better than nothing! More to come hopefully - https://vimeo.com/166683745

2 points$6k for this 2001 735i with 245kms with beige interior in pretty good nick. Quite rare to see these in black - I think it looks good - especially with the right wheels on it
-
2 pointsScored some nice mint condition limited edition door sills.... I had some second thoughts if I should put them on as my car is not factory individual but then again I liked them compared to the standard boring ones so here we go....

2 pointsWhile the car is not going I figured it would be a good time to replace the heater core and redo the foam flaps in the heater box. Removed the heater box yesterday. Only took about 2 hours. Not sure why so many people make this out to be such a big deal. And I've never done it before on one of these. There's nothing I hate more than messy wiring, so that's all getting tidied up too. The inside of the heater box as it came out: New foam flaps and heater core: I put it all back together and back in the car this morning. No photo as I'm sure most of you know what a complete interior looks like. I've also removed the AC part of the heater box and sealed up the AC flap. Because who needs that? Just slows you down. All the rest of the AC system has already been removed. Look at the size of the thing:

1 pointWell went looking for a cheap 320 wagon for the missus and came home with a 2007 550i Wagon. I should of let her go buy her own car haha.

1 pointI wouldnt pay less then 5 or 6k for a paint job. 95% of cars will need some sort of panel work done. I used to be a panelbeater. The cheaper you go the na stier it will look. If you are keeping the car pay decent money for a paint job. And get the car stripped properly ( glass out and the rest ) otherwise it wont look as good. Sent from my GT-I9300T using Tapatalk

1 pointAnother way of covering risk is to slap a Vero/Autosure MBI on it. You can do this for standard euros max 250K kms and 16yrs age. I did this with my privately purchased 2001 X5. Jonno @MTF Mt Vic.

1 pointI'll take it Dimitrios - can you PM account details and courier cost? Cheers, Pete

1 pointget it checked. ask for service history. no history and you can negotiate the price. Nice cars these ones... Personally I don't like the black on black combination but I am weird anyway.... Sent from my GT-I9506 using Tapatalk

1 pointThanks all. Great car, few more goodies found on it such as eibach sway bar and springs. Unfortunately has a bad coolant leak which only made itself known today. Replaced radiator cap, but still seems to be leaking from the bleeder screw. Will get another from jerry clayton this week. Bit stressful having to keep an eye glued to the temp guage though, memories of my Subaru days.

1 pointWhile we were on holiday in Queenstown we got the sunroof panel painted and the surrounding areas cleaned up. Before and after pic below. Now to do the headlining. Have had a couple of quotes but also a few suggestions to do it myself. Found some ideal fabric at Spotlight. Has anyone attempted this before? Still on the look out for the parts as mentioned above so if you know of anyone selling...

1 pointThis belongs to my Girlfriend's parent's neighbor's son, who was overseas and had the car in storage. The neighbor came home as I was washing my e36 - I spied this e34 in their garage and immediately ran over and introduced myself. It is absolutely immaculate.

1 pointHmmm, my 540i did 1850 rpm at 100km/h, does that mean it had the M5 auto transmission?

1 pointJumping to conclusions a wee bit there, Ron. This rattle is often indicative of a bad or worn throw out bearing. My E30 has the same 'issue' and is well loved. No issue with clutch operation. In fact, it's been like this since I bought the car 2 years ago. He has a brand new clutch and flywheel but just hasn't got a round to installing it. Sounds like he's onto it.

1 pointAnd finally... after much delay and procrastination my wheels are done and I'm very happy with the result. I still need new centre cap inserts but they've been ordered from Germany and should be here in the next few weeks. There are no silver inserts available any more so I need to make some more decisions when my black ones arrive. This is a subtle shadow chrome, slightly less shadow and slightly more chrome than the OEM e39 M5 wheels. My photography skills don't really do them justice.

1 pointBut seriously. Any business that can't answer their phone hardly deserves new customers right?

1 pointHere is an old pic of mine on Jamex Super Lows: From memory they were super soft, and the ole girl would squat like crazy with the 1JZ power. Later they were replaced with King Spring Lows, which sat about the same height but were stiffer. Also remember Pre-FL rear arches are higher (like mine) than FL (like _BRS_)

1 pointLooks like a sweet car actually, welcome Liam Stephen (?). You'll find lots of e39 love around here, it's a bit of a BMW icon. Needs a slight drop but that's easy. Check out our regular Auckland meet too... all welcome, especially new member cars.

1 pointReplaced the clutch slave cylinder on my e36. Had to improvise a pressure bleeder from a coke bottle which worked a charm. Tight arse mod of the month is a adjustable clutch pedal stop, or an washing machine foot..... Fits up perfectly (OEM on the right) not that a proper one costs much https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-3807-uuc-clutch-stop/ but you cant beat near free mods for almost zero effort.
