Going by what I read on the internet, installing a V8 into a e46 is a prick of a job and with only a couple hundred houses from the 3l v8 is it worth it? Hell yeah I think a V8 3 series is a cool first car. To get around the oil Pump problem you have when installing a M60 into a E46 I decided to dry sump the motor new sump machining the drive gear to fit the factory crank pulley mounting the pump

if your budget is $6-7k, I would stay away from the E90 series (2005 onwards shape) and go for something like an E46 325i/330i or an E39 530i. No matter what you do, dont buy a 4 cylinder BMW such as a 2006 320i. You will regret it.

200 horses is ample power for a fun car, especially a first car! Dry sump cost... How long is a piece of string? A lot depends on how much you do yourself, before you get to pumps and accumulators and oil lines and... Definitely worthwhile though.

Sorry... got you all beat: Introduced July 1970: Daihatsu Max 360 SS - 40PS (39,5HP) from 360cc... of course it's 2 stroke :-) It was also detuned very early in it's production life, but it still was just over 100hp/l I had 2 non-SS models, which were a bit less powerful.

Needed a few things for a wof. -inner tie rod ball joint -front brake hoses -front tyres So after getting all that work done, getting a wof and an alignment it overheated on the way home. It cooked for about 20mins all the way home. Couldn't find any obvious leaks aside from the radiator cap. I bled the cooling system about 7 times using all the techniques posted on various forums. No joy, but this evening I learned that the waterpump wasn't new. The joys of $400 e36 cars.. Wof'd Wheel Alignment The reward at the end of an early Saturday morning The reason

Just landed a set of Stoptech Street Performance pads from BuyBrakes.com landed in NZ for $160. Good reviews with a bit more temperature resistance than the very good Hawk HPS pads. Downside is they dust so weekly cleaning is supposedly a must.

I Have a 330ci and with good pads and rotors the car stops very well indeed. Bigger brakes than on a V8 commodore pre 2005 or sam year Falcon so can't see a problem.

Any Japanese import Euro car that is over 5 years old is liable to turn into a very expensive money tip. Especially the lower spec small capacity versions. A 10 year old low km is a hand grenade waiting to have the pin pulled by a heavy right foot. I have one 2 in the workshop today. Euro manufacturers have lost the plot with reliability since about 2005.They are now building / manufacturing to a 3-5 recycle rate which only continues to burn the consumers bank accounts
