And another clip of me being a bit too keen with the throttle.....

On Easter Friday, I made the decision to get the manual conversion done during the long weekend, so the car went into the garage. ...and it's still there 2 weeks later. Family time and life in general got in the way as usual, and just haven't had the time to get it done. I've been tinkering a bit in the evenings, so the engine and transmission is ready to come out (everything is disconnected, just need to lift the thing out). I absolutely love how the whole front basically unbolts. This was a pleasant surprise when I started working on these cars. I might actually get around to pulling it out tonight. List of things to do before the 'new' motor and gearbox go in: - Find the water leak! - Manual pedal box and clutch line install - Remove A/C That's probably about it for now.

Hi all My name is Peter Just moved back from Aussie, sold my company Advan Performance Centre Sydney, BMW / Euro tuning etc. During my 16 years in Australia we owned many cars, one of my favorites was a BMW E92 335, over time it became our shop car and was highly modified. Its great to be back in Kiwi land and explorer our fantastic roads, its just the weather that we are still getting used to lol.. Now we are settled i have purchased a Keeper and one of my favorite cars. Its a M3 E92 2012 Edition 500 done just 22,000km, it was imported by a BMW M3 enthusiast in 2013 with only 53km on the clock effectively a new car. So happy to find something different. I raced cars in NZ for many years prior to moving to Aussie, so looking forward to having a play in the M3. My knowledge is extensive with BMW from 06 - 2016 M and non M, Very happy to help out members where i can. The wife and i are looking forward to meeting some of you at future events. Cheers Peter

No fold-down seats - mine comes with the big barrier between the boot and rear seats. I've managed to 'fix' this now with brute force. The hook or whatever must have gotten stuck inside when I turned the key to the right. I had to hold down the electric boot button and push the bootlid upwards with a lot of force, which managed to loosen the lock enough for me to turn it back into position with the key. After that everything worked as usual. Thanks for the responses guys.

Kia ora team, My name is Ryan and I am a long term car enthusiast and recently found lover for all BMW's. It started late last year with me wanting a new tidy daily, something not Japanese. I flew up to Auckland and picked up my new BMW 2007 E90 6-speed manual 320i and drove it back to Christchurch. Being the male I am, I found the need to pick up a spanner so two months ago I jumped on a bus and went to the Nelson region to purchase my E30 1987 PFL coupe running a auto 1.8ltr m10. I personally love the m10, such an underrated engine that has a lot of potential and very strong from factory. Current plans are manual conversion, install my adjustable suspension and general tidy up / replacing tarnished parts with OEM factory. I am excited to learn and make new friends along the way! Cheers team,

I didn't speak with the dealer, just a random local bear it that knew the dealer and the butcher. Call the guy on the business card.

Admittedly I did take my E34 540iS from 320ish Ks to 380ish and it cost less to run than my E30 with half the K's... sold it for close to twice what I paid for it too if memory serves.

Ugh. Spent forever futzing with the airbox to remove it en route to the oil filter housing to replace that gasket. Just as I realize I am short one T50 socket for the pulley, my son's kindy calls and I have to dash off to pick him up. This immediately after I remove the upper radiator hose and spill coolant everywhere. Sick kid and car is sitting there all mucked up. Ugh. I might try and finish removing the alternator and housing tonight, clean and refit tomorrow. Wish me luck either way.

After removing the brake sheilds from the E39, because the council are too reatarded to sweep the stones off the new seal..... When to stay at the beach for a week - at Pacific Bay/Kowhawera Bay Tutukaka... turns out they just sealed the road out there too! E39 now has 3 new windscreen chips, numerous paint chips, stone stuck on the rims, underbody trays, wheelarches and suspension... GRRRR! Plus, in typical E39 fashion, had to nip down to the hardware shop for some "Knead-it"... to seal up the expansion tank, so we could come home! I only looked at it a few weeks ago, thining I should order one!

Glad to hear that you got it sorted could've been a troublesome fix, will keep in mind to try brute force if it ever happens to mine. Sometimes too afraid of going that route, and it hurt just reading of having to drill a hole to unlock it. Hahaha

Just a quick post - bought one of those Airbag SRS reset tools on trademe. I triggered an alert when I was checking fuses. It just arrived so I followed instuctions, turned the key on, opened the bonnet, and connected it to the round interface to the right of the engine. Got cA up and hit enter. SRS Airbag light now off. If anyone needs this done in the Wellington region let me know. Jim

Arrived at work today to find it sitting at my desk. Exactly 1 week from ordering, very impressed! Did not expect that from the $14 China post delivery. Briefly unwrapped and had a look, as far as look and feel goes, build quality seems excellent. I'll take some photos at home.

The planning, designing and buying phase is almost as much fun as the listening stage in most audio projects for me, certainly beats the install phase for enjoyment. So you can spend more time on this part now with the delay. One other option to possibly consider would be the under-seat style sub that are used in the latest BMW models, not necessarily the exact parts but the idea of where to put it. Certainly gives what I would call a good bass in the car without being obtrusive into your useable space. I believe the latest designs use the void in the sills of the car and the body to help with the response of the subs as they are connected together - I doubt this would be possible or work with the E46 if it wasn't designed for it in the first place.

I took it for a strop to Auckland with #1 son, filled a few days of the school holidays in. And settle in the new shocks and tyres. Photos shortly. It's a great distance car. On smooth seal, you can turn up and enjoy the hifi without road noise intrusion. luxury. It's confortable, minimises time in the opposite lane while overtaking, stops and handles pretty well. And for the first time I had the fuel economy readout in the 11l/100km range. Pretty good given I was enjoying the kickdown bark while overtaking. Oh, and while in Auckland I went and had a look at the drift series at Pukekohe. My first time seeing it live, and I wasn't impressed. A separate post on that. I also fitted some genuine BMW wiper blades while in the north. I was having a little trouble fitting the new Valeos. Then I had trouble with the BMW blades... Auckland City BMW service advisor kindly helped me out. I guess I wasn't savage enough with them! Today a package arrived, and I'm enjoying reading my way through the north american e60 sales brochure (bout 70 pages), luxuriating in that BMW marketing speak. all rights reserved. hosted here on Bimmersport. I had to drill a 20mm hole behind the number plate on my E38 when the boot wouldn't open. Drastic stuff but then you can reach the wire and pull that with pliers that released the boot manually. Expect the E39 is the same, pretty sure it was on YouTube. Hole was right hand side of centre about 20mm down. overall no long term impact except a hole behind the plate which of cause you don't know is there

Got a little more done on the 'diffuser' Still needs final sand and paint obviously, plus some mesh panels on the side exhaust sections. Coming together alright though I reckon.

productive long weekend, pulled my custom headers off the e36 and re-routed the pipe for cylinder 2 so it doesnt tap the steering shaft in left hand corners anymore, fitted the purple tag rack and new power steering hose and tie rods, fitted the leather rear side interior trims that have been lying around for a year or so, went to pick a part and got a complete wiring harness to move the battery to the boot, as well as some trims that need replacing, and re-attached the front number plate that fell off !!

The E/F/G Series codes have always come from the Engineering Department's project code at the start of development. Back in the day it was possible to capture everything under the one E30 code, costs, resources, etc. Now there is so much more complexity there would be too much info under the one code. Plus it then helps with planning, production, logistics, etc due to the greater level of accuracy from specific codes rather than all lumped into one.

Fix'd. Stupid. No idea why they designated the different chassis code Almost as stupid as splitting the 4 door and 2 door cars into 2 different models and then making a bloody 4 door version of the 2 door model anyway.
