7 pointsI'm just letting everyone know, Botany Motor Worx Ltd (B.M.W Ltd) has withdrawn it's sponsorship on the forum. I'll still be here from time to time though as *Glenn* Wish all you guys the best with your enthusiasm and comradery over the years and I'll still enjoy reading all your exploits and help where I can...

3 pointsReplaced main belt tensioner and bolts, the idler pulley, popped on an engine cover cap I had been missing, and replaced AUC Sensor. I did the belts too. My old belts looked ok, and were dated from 2015, the car's done 60k KMs since then and I had the belts from my kit, so I replaced those too. Free used belts from 2015 if anyone is keen. Joke's on me not replacing the AC tensioner... it looks pretty rough and will have to go soon... Good lord, that fan cowl was rude to me and the fan clutch tools are a pain to get right. I spent more time on the cowl and fan tools than anything else. @*Glenn* The car no longer rattles at me! Sad note, a mate came over to help and now that I've replaced both tail light gaskets, and the boot rubber seal... He noticed the leak in my boot is from somewhere higher. I need some time to go in there with a torch and someone with a hose to check this with. Might co-opt the wife sometime. Some pictures below. Car on my fancy ramps, self-made! Old and new parts. And a video of how bad the old tensioner was!

3 pointsTry not to judge, but the fact this has isofix makes me think that's awesome and it sure would help sell it to the wife. ?

2 pointsBut the grin on the daughters face more than makes up for it ...... can we go in daddy's car ...... If you think about they are a smaller version of a race seat with a 5 point harnesses

1 pointReal sad to hear that! You've undoubtedly been the most helpful person on this forum. I'm not sure if the moderators see the same, but I definitely think they've dropped the ball on this one.

1 pointI never judge a car on k's myself, its just a number at the end of the day, how its been treated over the years is what matters..Chances are higher that more of the original parts have been replaced in that time compared to a ~200,000 example which would be probably be on tired\old suspension etc anyway. Age is also a factor here not just k's. Personally id view and inspect it before writing it off.. These are all old cars with many owners so you never know whats they are like until you see them. For whats its worth at least half a dozen 80-90's BMW's ive owned had over 300,000km and ive got no regrets. I made sure i got them for a good price and they had strong engines are transmissions. I never mind doing a bit of suspension work (which is usually required). E46 would be cheaper to repair also esp suspension wise.

1 pointAs people know in the trade everyone has a hard time finding competent tradesmen. To make it quick... Working a fly in fly out on a flexible roster (most are two weeks on/one off, four on/two off, six on/two off) from Western Australia earning well into six figures. Flight allowance included. Accomodation included (shared work house). Shared vehicle included. Work will mosty consist of diagnosis and repair of truck cab, chassis and engine wiring. Trailer re wires. Competence in air conditioning fault finding and repairs a must. Flick me a PM cheers.

1 pointThe article offers a slightly unfair comparison. The real Mercedes 190E racecar started with this: Still obviously a 190E (as an E30 M3 is obviously an E30) but with the purposeful re-styling that sets it apart. In my mind, at least!

1 pointI forgot about when seat belts first came out and were retro fitted to older cars, it was the end of the world for some people, now its standard practices and they are checked in a WOF too.

1 pointIf thats the case, then go test drive that $3000 330ci. It might drive alright and you can slowly save and fix things as you go. Have to start somewhere. How about looking at E39 sedans? They are generally cheaper and very nice cars Here are a few 328 etc I could find: https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1396884906.htm https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1398236414.htm https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1404762185.htm

1 pointYou know... We have 4 child seats (2 per car... It's a pain to move them around) and one of them is a Britax with a clicksafe system that is a breeze to install and move around. It costs $500ish, but that is the seat to get if your kid is forward facing and happy. I'll find a link. Trivial to install correctly and safely. EDIT: It's "Clicktight" and this is the seat https://www.babyonthemove.co.nz/car-seat/shop-by-weight/9-40kg/britax-frontier-click-tight It's worth every penny and installs solid tight unmoving on any car we've tried so far. ALR seatbelts not required, nor messing with the damn clips.

1 pointWe are looking at two different cars then. Sorry, my mistake. The one I'm looking at is an E90 Sedan.

1 pointLots of cleaning tonight on the S62, replaced the thermostat, sensors, belts, oil ventilation hoses, gaskets, O-rings, etc. etc. Now all boxed up waiting for the new radiator to arrive...
