Couldn't let the crappy weather prevent me from taking the new toy for a test drive. edit: showroom section might have been more appropriate. Mods feel free to move it...

And the warranty even covers it. BMW dealer assured me non competitive track use is allowed for M cars. Scanned the fine print and didn't see anything that contradicts this ? Being able to track this without worrying about blowing another engine will be great! Think I do need to swap the pads though, apparently the standard pads are still a bit useless for the track. The manual mentions this too. This one has the steel brakes. I'm not rich enough for carbon ceramics, won't touch a car with them! Just shy of 30 000km, 2 year BMW warranty. Some good options including: Harmon Kardon sound system Heads up display Adaptive suspension LED headlights with High beam assist - got to test this last night in the Canterbury countryside, it's awesome being able to leave your high beams on and see the car blank out sections of the beam when other cars come into view. Sakhir Orange. But it does tend to look more red than orange. Will be keeping this one stock... I was struggling to find places where I could actually hold my foot down, and most of the time when I did I could see the traction control light flashing even up to 3rd gear in some places. I'm not getting why some people rush to tune these?! Have yet to try the MDM mode, don't want to light up tyres until I'm a little more used to it. Perfectly comfy on the crappy roads of Christchurch, you'd think it wasn't a sports car if you just drove it gently. And extremely sharp and stable when going at higher speeds on the back roads. Incredible suspension.

Picked this beauty up in Rotorua from a forum member on here. What a rare colour being Malachite Green Metallic. Nz new. I plan to do a manual conversion and mtech kit on it and some nice wheels although the basket weaves look amazing. It will eventually get a full repaint. Too. Who else has an e28 or a lead on a manual conversion. The 535i has nice power I must admit.

Had some time over the weekend to restore my E30 grilles / grills. Obviously I could've replaced with new, but these ones looked ok and I had some time so why not give restoring a go. Things you need: 1) E30 Grille 2) Plastic Doctor 3) Sponge Seal as shown 4) Oomph Instructions: 1) Cut the existing foam off with a razor blade 2) Spray residue with Oomph and leave for 2 mins. Then rub / scrape off. Repeat as necessary. 3) Wash the grilles with detergent 4) Dry fully 5) Wipe grille down with plastic doctor. Use a screwdriver wrapped in cloth for the tight areas. >>Stay away from the foam area<< 6) Leave to dry then repeat on areas until a consistent finish 7) Apply foam strip, cut to length. I used loose fitting clothes pegs to hold it down for 24 hours; seems to have worked well. Enjoy the result!

You make it sound so simple! On a 335, it's at least 5 hours labour plus gaskets and walnuts. Even at $100 an hour you're well on your way unless you are paying some backyard mechanic $20 And a box of do-bros

if considering a typical timber framed and truss shed you could arrange for the roof trusses to have a whole bay where there were no trusses so a hoist could push the car up into the space where trusses would normally be.You just have some biiger purlins in there to span say 3m

Buy one in NZ. Much less hassle. Have a look on Trademe as per Driftit's link above, it's where most of NZ's car sales happen. $27000 is about as much as that car could hope to sell for in NZ, if it wasn't a UK import (people here are wary of UK imports having rust issues due to salt on UK roads).

Yeah, there is a lot out there in the market, nearly went with a Ubiquiti setup running on its own box, but couldnt be assed running all the cat 6 around. All the ones that arent easily accessible I installed a solar panel on (which is about $100/camera). I went with Arlo as PBtech stock and support them, and I wanted them now!

Nice looking car, love the subtle blue. I also second the opinion to not go to Stage2+. I had it, and the power was just stupid for the road. Sure, you could pass anything in the blink of an eye (and risk your license in the process) but acceleration from a stop/low speed was greatly hampered by not being able to put that power down. Even with an LSD my car struggled, it killed a lot of the enjoyment of trying to drive it fast. Without an LSD it would've been impossible. It was good for sliding around, if that's what tickles your bits. Stage1+ is just more useable.

I had this done 3 years ago and got charged $300 for it. The guy did it with solvents and brushes, I think it was an ok job but not perfect. There are plenty of vids on YT showing solvent and walnut home jobs and I think its a 2 to 3 out of 5 for difficulty. $1000 does seem to be the most common number I hear and is what a tuning outfit in Welly quoted me. I just cant reconcile that number with the time and parts involved. I will do it myself next time with basic blaster kit and some fine grained walnut shells. I expect the kit and gaskets will cost me less than $500, I can then re sell the blasting kit and get back $250. This video from the N54 tragic's at 0 to 60 goes through it including the mistakes they made and the simple fixes to those mistakes.

I owned this about 12 years ago. Had it for 3 years then sold it to Ross @ BM Workshop. The present owner bought it off Ross. All BMW enthusiasts. Genuine unmolested example.

What's not simple about it? Am I missing something? If I had the equipment to hand, removing the airbox and intake is a 10 minute job if you have done it before. You have to tape off the other 5 intakes. Rotate CYL 1 to TDC...attach your blaster....even the DIY videos with marginal equipment working right, the actual blasting seems to take less than 30 seconds per cylinder. The super diligent people then seem to blow out the cylinder with air via the spark plug hole as a precaution. The BMW procedure does not do this. Given the above I reckon the total is about an hour....say 2 for kicks plus the roughly 12kg of walnuts doing six seems to require. At retail they pay about $55 for a 20kg bag, so $30 for walnuts. For a first timer DIYer I can see a bit of a mess about for a few hours or more figuring stuff out, but a pro who does this regularly? 5 hours...I can't see how you can reckon that. I don't see there is a requirement to change the gaskets unless they need it, granted if it's been 55k they probably need it. I'd love to be dead wrong here, but can't see how an accounting of the time involved ever reaches $1000 + GST...

Reserve was 50k, so auction was a complete waste of time.
