Couldn't let the crappy weather prevent me from taking the new toy for a test drive. edit: showroom section might have been more appropriate. Mods feel free to move it...

Picked this beauty up in Rotorua from a forum member on here. What a rare colour being Malachite Green Metallic. Nz new. I plan to do a manual conversion and mtech kit on it and some nice wheels although the basket weaves look amazing. It will eventually get a full repaint. Too. Who else has an e28 or a lead on a manual conversion. The 535i has nice power I must admit.

"The vehicle’s make and model has been (or was) manufactured in annual volumes of 20,000 units or less (evidence must be supplied with this application)." - Make = BMW - Model = E46 - Sub Model = E46 M3 The wording specifies model not sub model like requirement 1 I have been told that this is interpreted as in all model variations (ie all E46 chassis) not just a M3, a 330ci a 316i ect because otherwise almost every single car has the potential to meet this requirement. The E46 M3 does not qualify for SIV and I believe some have tried and failed as none of the quoted magazineS have listed it as a collectable. Only the CSL qualify under 1,3 and 4 So I am afraid you are out of luck there. It would not qualify under the rules.

If a builder gives you an estimate build a house of 3 months, do you tell him no, I reckon it'll take 1 month? What is you do for a job? Cause I'll turn up one day and tell you that it should be done 65% faster than your estimate

I would have bought this for 16k when it was initially offered. But because he was a bit of dick I bought two other cars, pisses me off as I really wanted it but now the money is spent.

Had some time over the weekend to restore my E30 grilles / grills. Obviously I could've replaced with new, but these ones looked ok and I had some time so why not give restoring a go. Things you need: 1) E30 Grille 2) Plastic Doctor 3) Sponge Seal as shown 4) Oomph Instructions: 1) Cut the existing foam off with a razor blade 2) Spray residue with Oomph and leave for 2 mins. Then rub / scrape off. Repeat as necessary. 3) Wash the grilles with detergent 4) Dry fully 5) Wipe grille down with plastic doctor. Use a screwdriver wrapped in cloth for the tight areas. >>Stay away from the foam area<< 6) Leave to dry then repeat on areas until a consistent finish 7) Apply foam strip, cut to length. I used loose fitting clothes pegs to hold it down for 24 hours; seems to have worked well. Enjoy the result!

Hi guys my name is Jacob and this is my E92 335i in Monaco Blue. I am abit late to creating an account on here so ive attatched a few photos of when i purchased the car last year in late July as a daily driver. Loving the 335i as a platform from other previous cars ive had like my old r32 gtr. The comfort, luxury and performance for the price is probably one of the best cars out there in my opinion. Over the almost year ive owned the car i have added a simple trunk spoiler lip, stage 1 tune, vertini wheels, H&R lowering springs and soon to have fitted a 1m style front bumper. Have plans this year to go FBO and stage 2+ along with potentially an m sport rear bumper and some side skirt extensions.

Your problem may be getting the broken bolt out first. How did it break would be my first concern, over tightened or cross threaded and an attempt to get it back out. I'd get it checked by Jon at Auto38 in Welly

Yea, I've only built two engines in my life. A 2 litre pinto engine for my 1976 ford escort when I was a teenager, and a n46 a few years back. I've done heaps of other car projects so i guess i'm a bit surprised at only building two. Done a few headgasket replacements too. My current build is more ambitious - a m62b46 with a m122 blower and dry sump system.

To make the short shifter work, solid trans mounts are key so there is no movement in the gearbox to falter shifts. I did have blue / 85a poly bushings in there, so swapped them out for solid delrin on E21 style cups. Chucked in a new fuel filter while I was under there.

I'll come back to Radiator hoses as they're a work in progress, along with the fan. I did get the steering wheel on, boss kit on and the 6 cyl gauge cluster chip installed also. Much nicer than stock!

Recaro's were next up. I picked up a set of Mitsi GSR (evo 4 shape) recaro's a while back. Pulled them out of storage, gave them a hell of a wet vac then had the driver's seat repaired also using fabric from the donor car's rear seat. To install them, I used SCARLES sliders (took the NZKW ones back, they were absolute rubbish), and some floor brackets I'd picked up a while ago. 3 hours later I had them in the car. To be honest, I'm still not happy with how they fit in the car as it's very tight up by the centre console. They could sit slightly further out toward the door; even though they are on their mounts as far over as possible. I may take them out again once the car is running and see what I can do to remediate. If I were to do this again I'd just use the EuroTurbo / recaro adapters to E30 seat rails as this would also mean not having to fart around with tunnel mounted seatbelts (see later post).

I cant say I have done it, but I have removed my intake manifold. I removed the intake manifold when I was investigating a few other issues and now that I have done it my estimate for removing it would be 1 to 1.5 hours. The blasting using the correct grit walnut should take about the same 1 to 1.5 hours. Then another hour to put it back together. So 5 hours should cover it. I have a wee bit of experience with Walnut and Vapour blasting and the carbon will move easily in my opinion. You will need to buy a blasting kit and having used a gravity fed unit I could not see why it wouldn't work in this application.

I belong (amongst others) to a drivers group called ARTDI (a reason to drive it) and we had our first drive Sunday morning since before lockdown. With another bimmersporter from Hamilton #audiguy in a Z4M we drove through to Rotorua to meet up. A varied collection of 35 cars turned up (groups of 10 and SD procedures observed ?). The organiser Earle driving the orange Audi TT Quattro 3.2V6 (I owned a silver one a few years back) and is lead car for the Targa rally. He choose the course for the day using many of the roads used by Targa. Well what a blast ‘following’ the TT and the Z4M. Best of all the M3 performed flawlessly on some testing roads and even though it needs a rear wheel alignment after changing the RTABs. Have some replacement wishbones and bushes to do then will get a proper alignment done.

Nice. They're awesome cars "Have plans this year to go FBO and stage 2+" I've done this and wish I stopped at stage 1+. I'd recommend sticking with stage 1+ and enjoying it as a street car. Otherwise with the added maintenance, repairs, possible future WOF issues with going catless... you'll wish you just bought an E92 M3 or even an F82 M4 instead

Power points, power points, then more power points. Mine is 6 x 7M and I have 20 x 10 amp, 1 x 15A and 1 x 32A power point, it's not enough! I also recommend insulating ( I went with noise insulation bats) and lining, 12mm ply is great, if you want something on the wall, screw it on, job done! I also installed a cabinet with extra noise insulation for my air compressor and ran hard air lines around 3 walls with 3 outlets on each wall. I also went with 3M hip height, and installed a beam across with a girder trolley and chain hoist, the extra height is great for storage as well, but if it's not in the budget, it's not in the budget. I painted my floor with a Resene non slip 2 pack epoxy paint, makes it very easy to clean up spills etc, well worth the money. It goes without saying that good lighting is vital.

Thanks for the responses. Really appreciated . Central locking fixed on the remote ...…..! Its the extra step that makes the difference. These instruction added the hold close to the mirror and press another button, brilliant thank you Checked the 3 caps that you suggested ( I take it they are all in a cluster 2 small one larger ) they are all intact, so its not that unfortunately, worth a look though Murray, I think I came across one of your posts previously about re window replacement and a supplier in the US, might look at doing that eventually Regards Graham

What's not simple about it? Am I missing something? If I had the equipment to hand, removing the airbox and intake is a 10 minute job if you have done it before. You have to tape off the other 5 intakes. Rotate CYL 1 to TDC...attach your blaster....even the DIY videos with marginal equipment working right, the actual blasting seems to take less than 30 seconds per cylinder. The super diligent people then seem to blow out the cylinder with air via the spark plug hole as a precaution. The BMW procedure does not do this. Given the above I reckon the total is about an hour....say 2 for kicks plus the roughly 12kg of walnuts doing six seems to require. At retail they pay about $55 for a 20kg bag, so $30 for walnuts. For a first timer DIYer I can see a bit of a mess about for a few hours or more figuring stuff out, but a pro who does this regularly? 5 hours...I can't see how you can reckon that. I don't see there is a requirement to change the gaskets unless they need it, granted if it's been 55k they probably need it. I'd love to be dead wrong here, but can't see how an accounting of the time involved ever reaches $1000 + GST...
