Hopefully the old Toyota sports car comebacks egg on some classic comebacks from Mazda, Nissan and Honda.

Way more trick than the poor mans golf GTI, and much faster (and will be rarer). The i30N is cool because Hyundai made a fun car instead of its usual midrange whiteware on wheels, but compared to other cars in the class its pretty generic (and a 130 is faster! ? ) It really is a throw back to the old Toyota days of making oddball entertaining cars, like Starlet GT and SC MR2s etc. I hope it does spur manufacturers to stop making shitty generic compact SUVs, bring back the days of GTiRs and Silvias

I claim insanity. I had a pilot's licence before a driving one. Still scan all the instruments, keep looking around, check the altitude.....

Once you fill the tyre with goo, you have to replace it, so only really helpful in times where the tyre is irreparable so bear that in mind. I can't remember the success rate but I was told it was fairly low and most ended up needing a tow as the goo didn't stop the leak.

I have one of these, it’s about three years old and I be never used it. So I’m also interested to find out! I did notice another can of tyre weld I have has expired - something to consider that they don’t appear to last forever...

A friend of mine is offering for sale his factory built race car by Mini BMW. He says this about the car: This is a generation 2 right hand drive , turbo charged vehicle, a genuine Mini Challenge Cooper S R56 JCW as far as I am aware the only one in NZ Most of the MIni Challenge race cars are older left hand drive R53 supercharged that have had a very hard life . if you purchased it new in the UK it would have cost $100,000 NZ The vehicle has done 4000 km and is like brand new. It is road legal with an LW certificate and has been issued with a motorsport authority card .It is registered and has a current WOF .It is set up as a targa car and ideal also for the tour .The car is very straight and never been crashed 250 - 260 hp weighs 1000kg . Homologated roll cage; Racetech seats and harnesses ,Trackit GPS Monet rally computer, six speed transmission. JCW aero kit rear diffuser high-downforce adjustable rear wing , AP Racing ABS brakes, KW rebound , height and camber adjustable coilover suspension, Sparco quick release steering wheel, inboard jacks system (very cool) Quaife LSD sump pan Vorshlag adjustable camber plates , adjustable strut brace , 3 sets of wheels and tyres all near new and genuine mini Lots of spares too many to list . This a very cool car and would make a great club car, targa car, tour car, great car to syndicate with a couple of enthusiast like minded people ! 30 k has to be a lot of bang for your buck being so unused and like new . I had to transfer an O2 sensor to the blue one in order to get that running without faults for sale and the replacement Bosch unit arrived from FCP today. Test install (no cable management), cleared codes and nothing came back, yay! I'll route the cable and install all the crap in the engine bay over the next day or so and she'll be back on the road. And when I do get to drive her I'll have automatic DSC off (w/DCT on) from startup courtesy of @wrs who's done me a solid and created a timer board that effectively does the job of pressing the DCT button for me when I start the car! DSC is completely unnecessary in a car like this (< 300hp for a start), especially with an LSD and good tyres. DCT on the other hand allows me to play with the rear end without getting totally out of control. I can still press the DCT button to re-enable DSC or press and hold to turn it 'all' off. Essentially my start-up mode is now DCT (less nanny) rather than DSC (too much nanny) which is perfect. Thanks @wrs, you're a legend. BMW should allow you to set this to the default you want, "ultimate driving machine" lol.

Better habit to get into is to always leave the drivers window down when working on the car. Standard practice for most mechanics for that reason.

Good idea on the ajar door, I've just gone and replicated the situation (but with the key in my pocket this time) and pushed the door closed, it stayed locked. But stick+magnet worked. ? Edit: key was in tray under armrest, lid was up. Now I shall keep the 'key' part of the fob in my pocket when I'm working on the car!

Do the doors unlock if they're ajar and pushed closed? Is the key in the slot or on a seat or something, could you use a stick magnet or coat hanger to retrieve key or press button? Or is it stuck covered in the boot?

Nothing more expensive than a cheap BMW (Or Merc/Audi/Jag/Porsche/Range Rover/Bentley/etc)

Don't worry, the new owner will spend even more fixing it

Having owned numerous R56's from the early 2007 upto the 2012 models, they do vary quite a bit depending on how its been looked after etc. The newer turbo ones are definitely nicer and more reliable engine but I wouldnt discount a well looked after pfl with the older engine. Its still a good car. The R56 is the "better" mini for sure, newer, better low end torque etc but the supercharged R53 is definitely fun and the noise is truly addictive. If I had to pick my order of preference it would be R56 JCW > R53 > R56 N18 > R56 N14

Shame they don't teach that anymore. Now it's brake in the middle of the road randomly, turn and indicate (optional) at the same time. And Mirror comes before signal (or it used to). Another loss to the Art of Driving.....

Weirdly, the e39 M5 doesn’t have brake ducts from factory. At least not the euro spec cars. Both of mine have not had them.

Any more details around the oxy sensor errors from your scanner ? post cat or pre cat oxygen sensors ? There's 4 in total. Can you post up the errors, and also does your scanner show the additive and multiplicative fuel trims ? These maybe represented by long term and short term fuel trims. Try unplugging the mafs, go for a drive and see if you're getting the same behaviour. Mafs are a common issue on the s62. Coils are usually rock solid, mine are all original, and haven't heard of any one in the nz group of owners having to replace them.
