There is an argument that this approach is better for the planet... no added emissions for the manufacture of a new vehicle if you keep the old one.

Just think, in 6 months will you be saying, "after that battery thing, it's been totally sweet!"

A great run, Audi managed to have no problems for 5 weeks. Now dealing with a mystery battery drain issue... Battery tested healthy, alternator charging it fine but then drains overnight. Wife is working today (AKL Anniversary) so had to drag me out of bed at 630 to jump start it but no luck (leads may not be big enough to revive a dead battery and the Audi battery is literally twice the size of the one in the E46). So she had to take the E46 - first time she's driven it in a year, got to hear the clutch riding and engine screaming up the road - sounded pretty damn good though 🤣

Auto Glym High Performance Tyre Gel has just won Forensic Detailing Channel's bake-off. I've had the Meguiar's Endurance, I don't rate it - too shiny, a nightmare to use, and I don't think it's water based. Talk to Barry's Garage @Autoglym

Meguiars hyper dressing is waterbased and you dilute to your desired level of shine. Being waterbased it doesnt last long and requires weekly applications or less if heavy rain/wet driving. I bought a 4l for about $150 and it diluted to 8L as a satin product and lasted me a few years of weekly applications. I have moved to chemical guys tire kicker and it seems to last a bit longer and also claims to be water based, I dilute this a bit because yeah its too glossy as is.

Fireball have some good products offering more satin finishes: https://www.unitedcarcare.co.nz/products/fireball-tyre-coating https://www.unitedcarcare.co.nz/products/fireball-trim-tyre Si02 which I guess is a fancy way of saying silicone, but the results are good. I've got a container of Meguiars Endurance Gel at the moment which is decent, smells good too - with hand application it needn't be too glossy either - at SCA / Repco and often on special.
