This has been up for sometime now but no threads yet - 1982 E21 320i looks nicely restored and pending eventual sale price, on the market at $15,999 looking like great value for money. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/320i/listing/3243052618?bof=d6IsAtLi Just popped up - 1972 1602, partially restored albeit not to factory (not so sure on the raspberry paint) which likely impacts value - must say I actually like the interior - quite the vibe! https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/3293563670?bof=nFirlg1q Can you dig it maaaaaan?

Well the latest biarritz 540 has failed a WOF on left front strut and right tie rod. The plan now is to give biarritz a few hand me downs of good parts from topaz and spoil topaz with new struts and tie rods. The exhausts will also be swapped over as I prefer the factory pipe out the back. The non factory exhaust currently on topaz is subtlety louder and sounds quite nice which hopefully will appeal to a buyer of biarritz... I've also replaced the upper rear suspension control arms and sway bar links on biarritz with some (much) better ones I had lying around (thanks Jared), and all the door cards / vapor barriers have been checked and re-secured. Sunroof closing issue fixed, it hadn't been closing since 2015 as the small wind deflector was sitting too high... simple 1 minute adjustment. Xenon headlights polished and adjusters replaced, tail lights replaced (thanks Adrian). Couple of PDC sensors replaced and all working now. Washer hoses to windscreen replaced. Rear brake hoses replaced. Leather recolouring is ongoing. Coming along nicely. The M5 wheels also have been sold. Standard sports 66's will find their way on.

With biarritz also came a set of style 32 staggered wheels and I thought I'd throw them on topaz to see how they look. Once refurbed they may find their way onto titan.

Well I've been busy on a few other car projects, and luckily I left it. Came back to revisit it and some cracking in the primer had started to occur. Turns out I didn't get all the 1k primer off before the 2k. So out with the 40 grit start again. Learning to use shadows and filler for as long as possible before moving onto primer & guide coats. Guide coat Sanded it down still sharpening up shadows final bit, it's so close. Just need a few more long sands on the line and the arch lips and then ready to send it.

Been a while! Some more small work done, recently changed diff oil and also discovered a leak around valve cover gasket - replaced the gasket, but since it was my first time after quite a while doing surgical stuff around the engine bay (my last engine I opened was converting a 50cc scooter to 70cc in high school :D) the leak is still there - I guess I should clean the damn thing properly before putting it back together, silly me! What's the best way to clean VANOS? as you can see it's quite dirty: The rear rotors & pads have also been sitting at home for a couple of weeks, so that's next thing that's getting done. And I finally fitted new tyres at the rear. Then off to changing belts and pulleys which are still sitting in the cart on FCPEuro website :D I am also experiencing a quiet whine when accelerating from say 20-30km/h coming from the rear, it then comes back when cruising 50km/h with small throttle applied. After changing diff oil it got a bit quieter, but still there. What should be the first thing to consider here? Since it only does it when there's torque present. It's about time I post one photo of the car from last summer, maybe someone recognizes it: Hopefully next month we move to a new place with a garage or carport, so I can finally work on the thing at home and not at the workplace warehouse on weekends :D Plus I'm getting a company vehicle as a daily driver, so this one can stay put for a while!

That's how it appears to be working. I'm reasonably familiar with how forums handle posts, but I don't recall ever coming across one that didn't go to the latest post when using the link in the right hand column. Yes, clicking on the forum heading does give the option of selecting which page you wish to open as is usual. And remembering the last post read and going there is a nice feature once you realise what is going on. So all good... I've been schooled Cheers...

Having seen this in the metal, it is a stunner - and I'd buy a car off Stu ANY day of the week given the care he puts into his vehicles.

Flagged as porn. That is stunning... The same company that used to make that now makes iXs, at some point something has gone very wrong.

We have been a dumping ground for dirty end of life vehicles for decades, now we are becoming a dumping ground for end of life EVs, it represents an amazing opportunity to develop world leading systems for recycling these vehicles, but in typical fashion the government will be too short sighted to take that opportunity and our kids and grandkids will end up paying to clean up the mess. I hope I am wrong. And yes I am part of that end of life EV owners club, but I intend to repurpose the battery from mine for solar storage when it is due for replacement.
