I had the car out in the sun on the driveway (melting my credit card :D), cracked the windows about an inch and went about my day....... returned to find a laser guided bird sh*t had gone right through the window gap and onto the back seat! Quick clean up and all is well.

Looking for rust in an E30 is usually only bad news, but by doing this you can find it, fix it and stop it becoming terminal. Much better than ignoring it / hoping it’s not there. For that boot seal area, I would suggest the best way is to cut back to bare metal and weld in a replacement section (possibly from a wrecked E30 - worst case should be a simple fab job as it’s 90 degree bends and straightish). I would suggest that with bog it will only keep bubbling up over time - even if you treat it with rust cure.

Washed the X5 after Akld-Wgtn-Taupo-Akld-Coromandel-Akld. Last two days under a Puriri with wood pigeons shitting on it. Took 3 hours with a clay bar and buckets of water to get it nearly back to where it was.

Are we related? You ability to go full nerd is so like me! Really nice to see how close you were able to get the header lengths. Wonder how it will sound as that can make for quite a spicy exhaust note Have you planned out what you'll do and use for the mid and rear section of the exhaust?

Whenever a seller won't respond to q's within T/Me it's a massive red flag... for a car like this it's even massiver.

The fact that he’s put “questions won’t be answered on this forum” make it look even more suspect to me.
