Gave my 540i a much needed wash for the first time in a few months. Have barely used it since it debited my wallet $2.4K in early September. Will write about that incident at some point haha Threw on a coat of Turtle Wax Black Ceramic Wax for some extra gloss. The paint correction I did 18 months ago still looks pretty good, might give the bonnet a light buff at some point if I get bored during summer.

Yes... Vodafone also offer a callback service that I have used, but 2degrees don't have that in their automated answering service. They do have a comprehensive range of answers to simple every day questions, but when a query goes outside those simple answers you just go on the end of a seriously long queue for a real person. Rest assured I will be looking at alternative service providers !!!!

3M tape is bloody brilliant for mounting number plates, monsoon shields etc… I’d use it happily for body parts. It’s not coming off in a hurry so you’ll not see paint damage unless you cause it by removing the panel 😀 edit: oh and my use of windscreen sealant wasn’t ideal for the spoiler - that was more about keeping water out. Good hints on my thread follow. next time I’ll be using a non-drilled lid, and non-penetrative fixings. 😀

Good power for a stock M52! Would hate to know how little mine makes now, although its still loads of fun - hopefully this time next year I'll be able to rebuild and stroke it with a mild cam - keep it very driveable. Love the Tech 1 wing - have been tempted to put one on mine at times but I will keep the chunky Tech2

Pffffttt... 34 minutes is kid stuff. Try 2 hours and 58 minutes to get a simple plan change with 2degrees. First wait a little over an hour to get a real person on line, then discover that they don't have the credentials to make the change. I will transfer you to someone who does she said... and an hour and 15 minutes wait. Eventually got someone who could do the changes, but that took another half an hour or so. Why not hang up you say ? Normally I would have only in this case I needed the plan change before leaving for a trip. After the first wait I was so far into it that I decided to stay on the line and see how long it actually took... 2 hours and 58 minutes Lucky I had other work to do on the PC while I was waiting. But yeah... We value your business... please stay on the line for the next agent.... repeated ad nauseam !!! What a fkn joke !!!! Cheers...

Have a few special tools I'm happy to lend out locally. I'm Christchurch based. A set of punches used to install new detents and shifter pins on a 5-speed ZF S5D 310/320 gearbox. Timing tool kit for an M54 engine (also works for M52's, apparently). Won't be available until after I'm done assembling my engine which will hopefully be in the next month or two. Also have a laptop set up with PA Soft BMW Scanner, INPA, NCS etc. Happy to help out with the occasional scan or minor coding. Still learning and exploring all the capabilities so will be getting more dangerous with time.

@Cammsport Sorry its taken afew weeks dude had some serious issues with getting injectors out . Figured id fill you in on where im at currently , so seems the intake cam shaft at cyl 4 rear has movement tinyest movement , the chain timming marks are fine and doesnt appear to have bent any valves but will know more as i go . Not sure if that helps at all. But yea thats kinda where im at currently with the issue on mine. My point being rotate the engine and watch the cam as u turn it . As i recall u saying u had low compression in 1 or two cyl ,as you may have the same issue

Meant to give the car a machine cut today (yet to do one) but with the rain decided to refinish my steering wheel properly - I had given it a quick spruce up previously using colour lock by hand but I wanted a better finish. I used the ‘professional’ Furniture clinic products I used to refinish my E46 seats with a spray gun and air compressor including their exceptional matte clear leather sealer that gives everything a beautiful soft touch silky matte finish. Came out great - also did the door armrests and pockets too while I was at it - no shiny 80s plastic in this car!

Pffft. That's what supercharged V8 Mercedes are for. If its not using 30l/100 towing the racecar whilst destroying a holden going onto the motorway what's the point?

I was going to summon my inner Fava and Pitt maneuver him but I've only been on the receiving end of that and it didn't end well.

Got up early this morning to tackle the Highway 22 run from the BMW Club mid year Vilegrads lunch and fortunately, this time the car didn’t pop a clutch cylinder - Car felt really good and didn't miss a beat - great having my front sway bar back working and I am very happy with the Yoko AD08Rs. Nice weather, great roads, beautiful scenery and zero traffic for a good 1.5 Hours of spirited backroad driving - good times indeed!

Gorgeous day in Auckland and got under the car for the first time in months - felt good getting hands dirty. Just replaced sway bar end links as I had disconnected my bar several months back as it was fouling on the subframe (car is too low so stock end links angle was way off). I have purchased some H&R sport springs as well as the ST springs I have in it are just too low and I want to make it a wee bit more age appropriate and wife friendly. Planning on getting out for a proper backroad workout this weekend too - have my AA plus roadside membership at the ready too 😂 Edit: Also cleaned my Spark plugs (was expecting them to be fouled again) but they looked good which was a bonus. Then managed to get rid of two OBC lights that have been plauging me for months - coolant level (connector was toast) and brake light (swapped some bulbs around). I should have bought a lotto ticket too but will take the Black Caps smoking Australia instead.

Long time, no update! Not a Heck of alot to tell on the E30 front. Had a dyno day Aug '21 that was great fun. Was interesting to see what power the M52 put out with 200,000kms on the clock. 122rwkw or 163hp at the wheels. We've recently moved south, so in the mean time the E30 has been put on the back burner (modification wise at least). Recently bought an E87 120d and it's turned out to be a lemon. So the e30 has come to the rescue! Happily carrying out the daily commute around Central Otago. Making some friends at work. And some more E30 goodness (or maybe sadness?) at a museum down here. Cars look to be in a pretty bad way. I don't think the owners realise the fairly recent rise in value of these cars over the last couple of years. Bought a replica Mtech1 spoiler from Mr Bodykits as I have always like the shape. Technically not correct being on a FL E30, but I like it! Only mocked up in the pictures. Need to colour code the forward portion and find a rubber like paint for the rear portion. And then mount it. Probably this weekends job.

Black slim plates and black roof rack/bike carrier have all gone on the M135i in the last couple weeks. So much nicer not having to disassemble the bike and have the back seats down all the time.
