There are alternatives / clones, but my experience is that the adhesive lets them down. So if you do use a trademe alternative, (I'm a fan of the foam sound deadener) then possibly combo it with a reputable contact adhesive to avoid the pain of it coming free in a month.

I've got kilmat saved in my bookmarks from long ago. Seems to have good reviews. Unsure how economical it is vs dynamat nowadays

I will not learn... New maf sensors, new turbo actuator. Same errors. Check fuse. Replace fuse. Errors gone. 😠🤨

Replaced the driver door lock actuator today. Been meaning to get around to this one for a while. Bit the bullet and glad to did it the old was one pretty worn. gettingit out and the new one in was extra challenging due to it being the drivers door and you need to fondle the lock barrel sprig into place in re entry as well as the tight Bowden cable for the door handle. Patience and breathing and it only took about an hour. Lol. discovered along the way I don’t need to retro grade my facelift door handle cables to fit the e38 illuminated interior handles despite what various sources say. Must be a difference for Japanese models? hopefully I can return the parts I bought for a credit or refund from Coombes.

Coolant is holding well after a coupe of drives around town. today I replaced the headlight washer hose with a new part from BMW. went in super easy. A previous owner had repaired this section before with several metal joiners. for a touch of passenger luxury I also installed some Febi rear cup holders. 🤣

The anarchist in me likes to find broken stuff. Glad it "softly" died, as opposed to a catastrophic chain failure. Wouldn't have been far off. However, the rod bearings and Crank appear to be in great shape. I'll chalk that up to the solid service history and regular oil changes.

Because you want to actually drive the car, not sitting on the roadside looking at it whilst the tow truck comes.
