    I suspect it's down to the absolute robbery the telecom companies are getting away with in NZ. I'm always having to be super frugal with data over there. I'm currently in Europe for the summer and am using Waze all the time. Here you can get an unlimited data plan for $10-15/month, in NZ I'm paying $30 for like 1.5GB so having to skimp out wherever I can... It's 2023 ffs, the cheapest unlimited data plan is what, $70? f**k that jazz

    Finally the lid is back on the can !!! The Mad Max dual cartridge gun worked well but you'd be well served to be on a program of 'roids for a few weeks preceding to get the most out of it πŸ˜† Taped all of the under sides to prevent any excess adhesive from dropping onto the seats etc All clamped down to cure. The sides were a good fit along the car body so didn't need to clamp them down. Tomorrow will get the clamps off and pop some seam sealer along over the top of the joints. Will be ready then for the second certification inspection which is holding up putting the head liner in, so i can get the B pillar's in, so i can get the rear door cards in, so i can get the back seat in etc etc

    I'm sorry but you want discretion when you were doing nearly 50km over the limit? If it was 4km over the I understand your gripe but suck it up and take your medicine. Everyone knows the risks of doing that sort of speed. Yes the vehicle and possibly you are comfortable with the speed but our infrastructure and other road users are not. My mate was hit while doing a U turn by a driver doing 120 in a 50. He saw the car in the distance but didn't expect it to be going so fast.

    If you do your due diligence, it checks out and feels right to you - then why not? I did 😎 You’re familiar with the e60/61 series but the m5 is just next level!

    Or, you know, just keep an eye on your speed and dont worry about speed cameras or cops? I've had two speeding tickets in my lifetime, and both were 100% my fault and both were due to me being stupid. Dont use a radar, dont use waze and dont even have cruise control. Better living everyone.

    Can vouch for he 4G15T My Colt is bog standard with CVT and it is damn near perfect for a runabout.

    Our E39 525i manual had Triangles on the rear when we got it. I certainly got my moneys worth out of the traction control system 🀣 RE003's with traction control OFF, certainly resulted in MORE acceleration in the wet, than the Triangles with the traction on! The Triangles didn't last long... about 1/2 worn, and I dumped them 😎

    This is why I wish there was more Waze users in NZ. Radar detectors are mostly useless if your the only car on the road. In the US that cop would have been marked on the map and Waze would have warned you. Saved my ass a number of times on the i95. And saved me from hitting a Highway couch a few times too. I think I am 1 of about 5 users in the Wairarapa. 😒

    doesnt look to be a lot of interest in keeping this thread alive, never the less, it serves as a good build diary for me in the future, and prehaps the next own if it is ever sold ! had a quiet afternoon around march or so. had some black leather seats from an E53 parts car. The bolt pattern is identical across E38/E39/E46/E53 so spent the afternoon getting these installed. This 320d had poverty pack seats, was surprised to find it wasnt even prewired for electric or heated seats which they usually are. Not too fused about the heated seats, but had to run some wires to make the move/recline etc work, and also swap the seat buckles and pretensioners over I also got an E39 540i motorsport parts car in recently, which had a set of 18" M Parallels which were quickly pinched. The photos make them look tidier than they are, could do with a professional refurb, but look the business! Fitted brand new tyres to make them work (as the E39 tyres were much too big) as well as hubcentric spacers, due to the E39 center bore being slightly larger than all other Exx BMWs for some strange reason! The front work perfectly as is. The rear i had to roll the inner lips of the gaurds in, trim the wheel well liners a but, and delete the front most of the side brackets for the bumper. the rear shocks had visible corosion around the top near the upper mounts, so also replaced those. Sorry to the purists that only fit Bilstein etc, off the shelf items at BNT will do for this car. lowered back down and gave it a drive, no rubbing anywhere. over the past month has done a lot of miles loaded to the brim with gear for the shows Im doing for ACT, and no rubbing anywhere. Great result! forgot i had some BMW plates and found one day in the shed, so fitted those up as well. While it had a pitstop in Hastings last week, Greg at GH Automotive swapped the engine mounts for me. Left side easy peasy, right hand side a bit of a pain with a turbo tucked in there so you need to drop the frame to do it. Also discovered the vaccum hose to the wastegate was disconnected, and hooked that up. turbo whistle instantly sounded WAY better. as the EGR and DPF has been deleted many moons ago, its only the back box doing the heavy lifting. However, with that hooked up, the car would no longer go over 2500rpm. just to test, re-disconnected (is that a word?) and worked perfectly again. freeboosting isnt as much of a concern in diesels as it is petrols, providing the engine is healthy, so thats a good sign! I have ordered a new boost solenoid for it which should solve!

    After a 2 year hiatus due to family things it was a mad 3 month scramble to get the drift e36 back together with the new gen4 6.0, ecu, wiring, gbox, clutch, exhaust etc etc. Had a few teething issues with the new cam/valve springs and cooling system but managed to get it up and running the day we need to head off for two days of drifting 😰 so loaded up and hoped for the best... and we got it, two days full noise and not a single issue, couldn't believe it lol. Now its time to dial in more rear grip (running a 265/35/18) and find a good solution to upgrade the rearend - diff/axles
