    Oil filter housing and oil cooler seals are easy DIY and can take 1-4hrs to do depending how experience you are and make sure you get the right tools cause unlike me that took a week due to stripped bolt lol. If you are talking about the Vanos solenoid o rings, you can either replace them or clean them (both vanos solenoid and seals/orings) using brake cleaner. Mine started showing error codes like 2a87 till I cleaned them, still works perfectly fine but when it fails again then i'll replace the whole bunch

    Thanks Vass. I’ve taken the head to one of the cylinder head repair shop and the guy will let me know if it’s still reusable or not after carrying out 3 tests on it. Then he will carry out to resurface, clean, and replace the valve stem seals for me. Sounds like a good old man with heaps of great reviews. One of the shop in town I rang up quoted $1100+ to do hardness/pressure test and valve stem seals replacement (not including other things) and the guy I took the head into said that’s far too expensive. It was the very first time I’m taking the head for the tests so I said I’m not aware of the rough prices these days but my boss at our workshop, the garage next door all said that’s too much. The old man said about $600+ at the most and he sounded quite reasonable and explained to me what he does etc… Well I guess I’ll find out soon.

    No real hard data on this, Jon did ours after he did Pete’s car. Ours was 61k kms, insurance paid most of it (long story). I have only added 7k kms for 2 years. At this rate I will be too old before the next rod bearings. I think just do it in your ownership if you plan to keep it, as well as other items. It’s kinda part of the ownership as i would take it.

    Oh f**king hell my wallet didn't need to know that! Edit: It will be interesting to see how cheap M2's get, seeing as the 1M never really dipped below $70K did it? The first thing you'd want to do is get a properly sorted suspension setup ala the Birds 130i package, as when I got to play with a brand new one in 2016 it lacked the compliance necessary for rapid cross country progress on NZ roads.

    Too late by the time it’s on TradeMe you will have too many others chasing it to get a bargain, and whoever brought it in would be looking to make a buck. Best bet would be to look on the Aussie salvage auctions, some are “trade” only but you should be able to get in easily enough. Quite a few cars seem to get written off for Not much damage over there which can be repaired here.

    Thats BS, all parts should be covered by a parts warranty (usually 2 years, unlimited KM) if fitted by trained technicians, whether the car is under warranty or not.

    Didnt even make it 48hrs. 100% makes 335i's look reliable
