335 update! spent the last couple weeks chipping away at this. Replace spark plugs, rocker gasket, oil filter housing and cooler gaskets, got myself a cheap walnut blasting setup and cleaned the intake ports, they were pretty gross! Cleaned out intake manifold, flushed coolant out and replaced, new oil and filter, new battery, new smoked fog lights, replaced headlight lenses and painted the inside bits all black since the chrome on the one with the broken lens was all coming away, new led halo lamps as well. Had a spare set of wheels that I got for the e39, style 125’s, 19x8 et20, 9.5 et32, but never painted, so got them done and new tires and now she’s ready to hit the streets…to have it scanned to clear some codes, register the new battery and injector and make sure it’s all good, then off for a wof, get the ding man to pop a couple wee dents out and a detail to get it gleaming.

Wheels are finally on a ship and have left Japan, should be here at the end of the month all going well 🤞 Also re-jiggled my custom data display and it looks a lot more in theme with more subdued colours (when nothing is wrong). Really hard to capture properly in an image but you get the idea ... hopefully

Short break to get my right hand mended after minor surgery, Finishing off some little bits, Roll cage is gone and interior coral red installed. Ill prob run the OEM passenger seat then retrim the racetech in coral red Fuel pressure reg re-tapped for m10x1 for low pressure fuel sensor, allowing fuel control module do its thing and pressures be read by ECU. No need for a gauge. Boost reference added from intake manifold. Fuel lines being p-clipped to floor, as per LTSA regs of 300mm distance between mounts, ordered 2 x turbo oil lines from greenlane speedshop, to oil pressure reg then turbo.

Was there also and was near the vicinity when the crash happened! Remember the screeching, bang, then the smoke! Ran closer and recall the crowd just stunned to silence about what they had just witnessed. Absolute miracle that both drivers walked away. This is the same race/year that a wheel came off a car, bounced over the perimeter safety fence and landed on a car parked on Jervious quay, if i can recall.

It was an absolute mess, I remember seeing it live! John Sax was never the same after the crash.

Sometimes the generic odb readers have trouble clearing codes with BMWs. Especially if they are a cheaper copy. I have about a dozen of them and the only reliable one I have is the bimmergeeks one and their software. Only issue is it doesn't work with anything not BMW. There should be someone nearby that has something that can help.

Is this "news"? Not sure, mods can move as required. Many of you might have one of these, they've been kicking around since 2017. I'm sure the risk is low, and it's only certain models, but it may concern you.

E38 750i (and an Audi) update Yes, I did buy it and have spent *a lot* sorting it out. I will post up some stuff on what's been done... Latest with the E38 750i - had to top up the coolant a couple of times - ~300ml each time ... and boom - new radiator required, sorted by Driscoll Motors. At least it was simpler than an intermittent issue on the wife's Audi Q3 - engine check light turned out to be due to a sticking element on the PCV valve assembly. Lots of troubleshooting/fault-finding time before identifying this. 😕 MBI will at least cover some of it. She was using the V8 X5 while this was being sorted "this uses a lot of gas, doesn't it?" Um, yep - compared to a much more modern 4cyl

Car has been going great guns through the miserable winter months but with the nice change in weather got out on a few rural backroads with @Cement and @elias on Saturday - Dave and I having to navigate a pretty decent swathe of semi' precarious gravel roads, so here is a rare dirty picture of the old girl! Next project is a cluster refurb and tart up and then a refurbished steering rack before the next WOF. From there will just be dirivng the wheels off it and saving up for some rust repair and full respray next winter.

So I finally got a good finish on the roof, and learnt how to polish something properly finally it seems !! Never really had the hang of it before it seems. I'll likely leave it like it is and then get it re-cleared after summer perhaps so I can be sure there is a good thickness for UV protection. Only thing left to do is reinstall the weather strips now, these will be glued in with polyurethane. It's pretty hard to get a good picture of it in the garage ... will try and get something more fancy in the future.

Some more photos of the car as it sits now, very happy with the exterior except for maybe a front lip or different front bumper in the future... on to the interior next.
