1 pointIt’s with some regret that I am selling this car as I really love it but no longer need it. It’s been a fun and faithful not-every-day daily for the last 5 and a half years during which I’ve given it the best care I can. Perfect for a driver that wants a rapid auto, or who has the means to do a manual swap. Highlights Essentials: Mileage: ~138,000 kms Warrant Expires: June 2025 Registration Expires: June 2025 Price: $10,000 firm Viewing: Epsom, Auckland by appointment - 022 413 9857 (please txt first) Showroom Thread: https://bimmersport.co.nz/topic/62890-my-fun-130i-e87-lci-motorsport-auto/ – note: the contents of that thread may be dated and no longer accurate, if you see something over there that’s important to you please ask rather than assume. The Good: It’s fast and agile, absolutely planted w/custom geometry, no rear end hop Mechanical LSD Custom adjustable coilovers w/Eibach springs (fully cert’ed) M3 front suspension components Custom full length stainless exhaust w/Y pipe 280hp tune and gearbox flash (it’s absolutely feral in Sport mode) Really good condition inside with some genuine BMW Performance additions Blue Brembo F series brakes (rears not installed) New battery and nearly new front pads and rotors Refurbished style 208 wheels in Ferric Grey II (small rash on LR) External billet PCV/CCV (Orange Wolf) Proper sequential aluminium shift paddles (R pull = up, L pull = down) Cruise control (full OE retrofit) 10.25" Android touch screen w/Bluetooth The Bad: Headlights could do with a polish Headlining has recently failed, held up with upholstery pins Stupid personalised plate FUNWON (included free if you want it, not sure of procedure if you don't tbh) The Ugly: Roof and bonnet paint are both scoured, it’s weird as it’s under the clear coat – I’ve had the whole car professionally cut and polished and that hasn’t improved it, if it bothers you then a new (used) bonnet (~$150) and a wrap for the roof (~$250) would be my recommendation. But it's really difficult to see other than close inspection, see first pic below as good evidence. Additional Details Drivetrain: N52B30 w/280 hp + 340 Nm tune Annual oil and filter changes (Penrite HPR5 5w-40) VANOS solenoids & filters removed, tested, & cleaned Mishimoto silicon intake hose BMC performance washable air filter Billet CCV/PDV valve (Orange Wolf, no more blown valve cover or oil filter housing gaskets) Gorgeous custom stainless 'Y' exhaust (Orange Wolf) Automatic w/tune (Sport mode is wild) Proper mechanical LSD (presumed to be Orange Wolf but unconfirmed) Chassis: E90 M3 front lower control arms Poly bushed front tension arms (E90 M3+) E90 M3 front anti-roll bar w/new bushings & droplinks Camber pin mod Front Ultra Racing strut bar CPM centre chassis brace M140i front Brembos w/new slotted & dimpled rotors (<1000kms) Braided front brake lines M140i rear Brembos (not installed) – I have new E39 M5 rotors available separately if you want to install these brakes as that was the prevailing solution when I purchased the brakes but now, you’re much better off going with these: https://vysgarage.com/shop/ols/products/rear-caliper-bushings-slash-inserts-for-rear-brembo-m-sport-f2x-slash-f3x-slash-f8x-calipers which is what I’d do if I were keeping the car and MUCH less faff. 1 pointOnce again, not so much up for sale, having a clear out and am wondering if there's any parts off this a member may want/need (or know of someone that does) anything that's left of these two? For all parts, cost of freight only, and if you're feeing generous, the cost of a box of beer ($30) would be appreciated, or a token amount will be just as acceptable. Both are facelift E30's, the white one is an auto 318i with an M40 if anyone is interested in the engine, sump or arms - not sure if the engine even turns over but will start removing it this afternoon. Front suspension and mags are mine, only sitting in it to get it moving. Sadly this one has succumbed to cancer, so I have no qualms cutting it up - I'll be taking the rear drivers lower guard for my own E30. The rest is up for grabs, including the 1990's sex spec rear seat if that floats anyone's boat. The grey E30 is an auto 320i, the M20B20 engine is designated to go to a friend in town here. Everything else is up for grabs, this one appears to be mostly rust free so will look at selling the rest as a rolling shell if anyone wants it - probably best as a track/race/rally/drift car than a full blown restoration. If you're after the shell, I'd be open to realistic offers. As per my E3 post, these will only be here for maybe another week, so get in fast - if no one wants anything then it'll all be going to scrap. Update: Both rear disc brake conversions are taken, will update with other parts as they go.

1 pointI picked it up in March and am loving it, so why the picture of the mint 635CSI? Because you've got to buy the seller right? The 6er has had a full strip, rebuild, and restoration inside and out, it's magnificent. The M2, now minus the decals and with custom plates in hand to be fitted, is pretty epic to be honest. NZ new so great spec, inc adaptive LED's and oversized brakes, full main dealer service history, last service at Auckland City BMW in November last year, $4500 and no outstanding advisories, carbon splitter, side bits, and spoiler, Pilot Sport 4 S's, roof and mirror caps are wrapped in matte black which I'm really liking at the moment. Very clean inside and out, little wear and I got under it the other day and she's perfect, including all underside trim and fixings. Very happy.

1 pointThat was a good send off for the old girl; 1600km and 4 nights living out of her from Auckland to New Plymouth, Wanganui, Wellington, Coromandel and back to Auckland. After ten years in NZ, I fly out to the UK today, been a pleasure Bimmersporters!

1 pointI went through my parts list to harvest all the main rubber manufacturers. Note that as at April 2025 some of these parts are no longer available from the manufacturer I previously sourced: Front Suspension and Steering: Strut Mounts - Sachs Front Bump Stops - Rein Coil Spring Shims - mixture of Genuine BMW and Lemforder Front Swaybar Links - Meyle HD Lower Control Arms: Lemforder LCA Bushing kit (e36 solid) - Febi Tie rods - TRW OEM Steering Rack Bellows - Rein Tie Rod lock plate - gen BMW Drivetrain: Front Wheel Bearings: SKF Engine Mount - Febi Gearbox Mount - Corteco Shift Bushings - all Genuine BMW except the one at the back which was delrin from USA - not recommended. Diff Bush - Corteco Guibo - Corteco Rear Wheel Bearings - FAG Rear Suspension: Subframe Mounts - Meyle (FWIW I'd not use Meyle in future - Meyle HD is still great stuff). Rear shock upper mounts - Meyle HD RTAB set - Lemforder Coil Spring Shims - mixture of Genuine BMW and Lemforder ARB Bushes - Genuine BMW Rear ARB droplinks - Lemforder Hope that helps.

1 pointThe purchase ended up happening pretty quickly although the journey took a while. M2's first caught my attention early last year and only the OG M2 was in reach then, and I was thinking I'd need to sell the M3. In the end I couldn't exchange an S engined M for an N engined one, it's an emotional thing. So I forgot about them until early this year and then kept a casual eye on the market, looked at a couple but never pulled the trigger. I checked out a few other cars to validate, or challenge, my preference for what was by now the M2C. F82 M4 - I really had to try this before I could eliminate it despite my biased preconceptions. But they were right, this car is enormous and it doesn't feel any smaller when you're sitting inside. But it doesn't feel heavy to drive and that surprised me the most. It's a monster, a real monster, and an unruly one at that, it'll step out at the slightest provocation, which can be quite fun if you're ready for it. I drove a pre-LCI and the tech has dated a bit, the LCI is quite a step up but man, it's got a lovely interior and the extended leather is so much nicer than the M2's plastics. Oh well. But too big, not for me. G42 M240ix - Holy crap, this is quite an incredible combination of electronics and machinery, but it's a messy, incoherent combination, clumsy even. It's a bit ugly, it's a bit big, it feels hefty when changing direction but it's an absolute weapon in terms of power delivery, only really being left behind by a proper M above about 5k rpm. Sticks like sh*t to a blanket as well. But my lord, the cabin is a chaotic combination of switches, buttons, and touch interfaces and just yells "VERSION 1.0", it's a visual and ergonomic fail, wait for the LCI. G87 M2 - Can't afford it, don't like how it looks, don't want it. But seriously dealers can be annoying and I capitulated. Don't like the digital dash at all but that's only a future software update away. Drives fine, can't really use the power, doesn't feel as heavy as I expected it to and does not have the same hefty feeling of the G42, tricky suspension. Still, couldn't own it even if I had all the money in the world, it's just as fugly in person as in the pics. So, a new journey starts...

1 pointI’ve recently been in the Far North, and where better for fish and chips on the beach. Having recently been on a trip through the Central Plateau, the E53 is fast approaching 400,000KM. We will be driving from Auckland to Wellington via Waitara, Waverley, Wanganui and Paraparaumu, and then back to Auckland via Coromandel; which should do it. Due to unforeseen circumstances, we’re heading to the UK on April 22nd after which the car will be for sale, no expense has been spared on making her safe and reliable for my family and I’ll be sad to see her go. If you or anyone you know is in the market for an E53 then please sing out.

1 pointSounds like a rough introduction, but on the bright side, you started off with one of BMW's worst engine from the past 20 odd years, so things can only go up from there. I'm willing to bet the valve stem seals will be shot on the little ti, very common issue on those N42 engines. Very tedious job replacing those, probably beyond the average DIY enthusiast and you do need some special tools. I've done it once and it took the better part of a weekend. You'll be looking at close to a $2k bill if taking it to a shop. The ti is a fun wee car but unfortunately the 4-cylinders in them are absolute pigs and are more trouble than they're worth. Either engine swap it or get rid would be my recommendation. I dare say you'll have a much better experience with the 6-cylinder, although not without its issues. Luck be with you!

1 pointI’ve put nearly 15,000KM on this thing which means we’re close to ticking over 400,000KM. To be honest, it’s hard to believe. If I was super picky, and I generally am with my cars 😂 the A/C could use a re-gas, the radio pixels are gone and the headliner is ready for a re-trim. That’s genuinely about it. Serviced today by the man @BMTHUG and while he was at it: Out with the old and in with the new (super picky 😂).

1 pointSo Grey Thunder has been languishing in the garage for a couple of years... I've pulled it out infrequently to run it up to temp, give it a splash of sunshine, a gentle wipe-over with detailing mist when the dustcover comes off. It's dry and undercover, just waiting for it's time for the project to re-commence. I've been picking away at the parts list. Bits sourced and added to the stash: Brand new Mahle/Behr heater matrix to replace the used one we put in back in 2019. Luckily I took a pic of the part number at the time! Internal plastic weathershielding for behind the door panels. Sourced all the seals & bearings, (pinion and output), to rebuild the 4.10 small case diff for the M42 swap. I already have a diff housing gasket, drain and fill plugs, and a Coreteco diff mount (my last - they're no longer made - I think the only aftermarket one that's sold now that's similar to OEM is the Moog item). Sourced all cooling system hoses for the M42B18 (not just the big ones, all the ancilliaries too) Spare e30 window winder (can't believe they've nearly doubled in price since I last bought one) - now USD61.99 New DME and Fuel Pump relays Got a Barina/Corsa steering linkage - still needs to visit a driveshaft specialist. New e46 rack inners, to replace the used ones and go with the new e36 outers on the Purple Tag rack. Antother rack bellows kit to replace the ones I used on my e46. I finally put a BMW Car Club sticker on it. Next steps... it's time to get out the Right Hand Drive 318iS loom and clean it, perhaps replace the tessa tape. Certainly clean all of the contacts. And I'll clean off the 4.10 diff and take it up to Begley Motor Works for a rebuild in a month or so. Blue Thunder on Ori Bay - winter 2023?
