    Welcome both of you - that 130i looks fantastic. Well done! And all the best with the selling ambitions, it was something I loved doing many years ago... it's not always an easy job but someone has to do it. A bit of enthusiasm (as you have) and commitment can take you a long way

    I spent today connecting up the Power steer lines, fuel lines, refitted the radiator and hoses. Also mounted the remote oil filter and started to make some of the oil lines. Car is back on its wheels as I'm taking to a mates workshop tomorrow to start making up the oil tank.

    Purchased a BMW M3 for my partner and supercharged her with E46 M3 VT2-575 Supercharger System (Gen.3) - ESS Tuning The top of the line, intercooled Gen.3 S54 VT2-575 supercharger system produces 575hp and 360lb-ft of torque at 10psi of boost.     A few weeks ago I purchased this Cooper S: Im really enjoying ripping round in a small car again. I believe it could have been a demo from new (had the plate M1NIS for the first month or so) Its a pretty good spec, chilli pack, sunroof, xenons and different wheels from the Mini catalogue.     Helping out a mate who wants his 540i moved on. He has bought a new car. He is hoping for 5k. He hasn't had it long, it was only a stop gap vehicle.     70 odd km's each way, average travel time in the mornings seems to be about 1:20 and evenings can vary wildly from same as mornings to 3 hours. We'd be looking at moving closer to AKL but can't find anything under $1M in a half decent school zone that's even remotely comparable to what we have here! Pretty easy decision really and if I was overly concerned about climate change or get too frustrated with driving I could always do the train...

    Great guy to deal with. I have purchased numerous parts for my e46 and e39 through Gavin. He has a wide range of parts in stock and if he doesn't he gets them in very quickly. The prices are very good and often cheaper than anywhere else. so if you need parts for your bmw i highly recommend giving Gavin a call

    These days, I work to live. There was a time when extra hours at work, working weekends and so on were normal, and what I expected, but you soon realise no-one compliments you for doing it, and no-one goes to their retirement wishing they had worked more hours. It's trying to ensure that quality of life when not at work that is causing the problem. We simply can't do it without living further away. At least, not the sort of life we want (which I appreciate may well differ to what many other people would be looking for).

    +1 this the 130i is all class Great to meet you yesterday Bryan. You're lucky to have driven such an amazing range of vehicles - just awesome. Most comprehensive set of new member pics I've seen too!

    Thanks for your help mate, really appreciate it. I went with the G4 Storm because the price was right (from trade me). Now to learn how to wire it to the motronic harness, a lot of learning to do!

    simple buy cheap plane ticket , fly up and have a awesome road trip back down:) then sell the 540ia , im telling you will be a lot cheaper and less hassle in the long run have converted a couple of e34 540i etc and its not a cheap exercise

    Almost up to date! So all pieced together and came across a few problems. Firstly one of the headlights fell out and smashed. No big deal as I have some new ones sorted anyway when I can be bothered wiring them in. Secondly, smoke started coming out of the dash cluster (any idea why)? And lastly, starter motor shat itself so off to get that rebuilt. Unfortunately the first drive in it's new disguise is on the back of a tow truck! Next step though is off to Dynamic Automotive to work on the engine and wiring side of things. Things to do there are: Rebuild starter motor Rebuild steering rack + all replace racks/tie ends/bushes etc Tidy up uneeded wires and crap that I don't need (found old alarm and gps tracker etc that I have no info on so all gotta go). Find out what caused smoke in the dash cluster As well as full service Plenty more to do but that's a start at least.

    Are you comparing to the latest G4+ Storm, in the black case? As these have 8 inj & ign drivers, so you could run sequential injection and individual coils on a 6cyl. With the older G4+ (silver/blue) and the G4 you only get 4 of each, which means group injection 3inj x 2 channel (same as the old L-jet), and wasted spark 2coils x 3 channels. You can also do the same on the G4+ Atom for less $$, but with a few less aux input/outputs.

    And finally, the paint! As mentioned, the colour is very hard to take a pic of as it always looks different in photos. Here you can also see the front bumper's been completely trimmed out with custom brake ducts coming through the fog light holes. All trim on the vehicle (chrome strips/side mirrors/door handles etc) were painted black, as well as the stripes through the front and rear bumper to give a nice bit of contrast between the two colours. We also painted the intercooler and front piping to make it much more subtle, although these will eventually be replaced soon anyway.

    The rear bumper required quite a bit of modifications to get it to work. I got this one second hand (still a Mike Shaw bumper) before I picked up the rest of the kit so possibly it was cut up slightly from whoever owned it last. We had to create mounts to make sure it doesn't sag in the middle and so it's removable from the original bumper holes through the boot. We also had to extend the inside lip so it sits flush with the body, and also extend around the exhaust tip. Fuel cap was also pushed out so it can open and close flush to the body. It may all look like a mess now but, but we're glad we put in the extra hours and attention into these little details as it shows in the final product which you will see in a later post!

    Well I was looking at adding a little power to a M3 E46 2002 that belongs to my partner, and was informed by a mechanic in Penrose that he had done supercharging before for BMW's. He recommended the most common was ESS Tuning in the states. We agreed to bring in the kit http://esstuning.com/e46-m3-vt2-575-supercharger-system-gen-3/ and install it and tune it. It was algood but ran into issues with belt slipping and car shutting off. Back and forth , back and forth.. I gave up on mechanic for going around in circles of months, then tried Ray@ HELLBM who then checked hardware side, awesome guy and said all was sweet, and maybe go back to ESS for software revise from ESS. Ess stated that NO, we just needed to leave it and let the car learn all adaptions again since it was reset. So we did, reset all adaptions, and it kept shutting off for some reason at random times.. .. we didn't know what to do... weeks went by as the car sat in storage.... I went back to ESS again, and the same response. ESS told me that the car needs to relearn the driving again hence why it's shutting off could be days, weeks..... and I need to keep driving it in order for it to relearn again.... They assured me that they had done thousands of supercharged BMWs thoughout the world, so my partner kept driving it around and for a couple of weeks... It FINALLY came to, and ESS was right. The car just came right and it hasn't shut off since... wow... I never thought we would get over this issue.... THANKS ESS TUNING!..... Thanks also to HELLBM Ray... BUT Bottom line is that you must choose a mechanic that specializes in supercharging cars because had I known that not many people specialize in Supercharging BMWs I may have not gone down this track... I've now spent in excess of 20k on the supercharging and the tuning alone... to this day I still don't believe the full potential has been unleashed from this supercharged beast.. I'm now in contact with HYDE and he's been really super helpful in assisting me to attain cert for PSS10 Blistein Coilovers and Supercharger on the car, which the original mechanic said he would do, but had not!... grrrrrrr.....

    So I guess this is where I should do a little write up and add all the stuff my dad has done on his 74 2002. It all began about 5 years ago when dad got the car in a dereg state that needed a full restore. Rusty sills were replaced and the full car was stripped down to bare metal, razor blades were used to scrape the layers of paint back, the car was originally green, but once we scraped off the red paint it was finally back to the bare metal. The drivers side floor was repaired too due to rust, finally making the car rust free! Unfortunitly dad didnt really get any pictures during the build of the car or of it in its stripped state. The guards were then cut and then welded to allow for the flares to be bolted on along with the BBS RS 15x8 et13 offset reps to be installed. This proved to be a bit of an issue come recompliance where an LVV Cert was also needed, this passed easily but added to the cost of the build. We managed to pick up a mint Tan leather interior out of a 635csi. This fitted in perfectly and the rear bucket seats look amazing and are amazingly comfy! The original 2L m10 single carby engine still powers it all but maybe one day in the future a twin carb setup or injected setup might be added to make the car a little easier to use as a bit more of a daily driver. The paint was chosen to be Polaris Silver, as the original 2002 turbos only came in the white or silver and my grandfather at the time owning a 1974 E9 3.0CS in polaris silver. So I guess here is the place where I will post some glamour shots of her! I have only shot the outside of the car but Im sure over time I will continue to utilize the little car as a stand in model whenever I want something pretty to take photos of! If you want to know more about this car feel free to ask, dad has a whole lot more on it and Im sure we will add more to the story of this car!
