Better play nice. As far as I know, the only manual box which bolts up behind the M30, is one from an M30, they are unique in their bolt patterns. I'd be looking for an early E28 flywheel as well, the lightweight one if you can find it.

Alpina only did the E28 conversions on the M30 powered cars, according to their register they never touched the E28 520i. Another fantasy car.

Yes, you need to change the pulleys, or the whole units, this is the only real difference in the two engines.

E28 for sure John, and if I'm right, E32 before 88, Marty or Brent should know.

The earlier blocks have the engine mounts further back, as opposed to the E34 etc which have their mounts closer to the front of the block.

Super Cheap and Repco have battery clamp down kits, fairly cheap and should do the trick.

I also recycle second hand E30 and E28 bits, and always try and impress on buyers that they are from 20 year old cars. Unless you rebuild totally the part, there's always a risk of failure, that's why they usually sell for a fraction of their new cost. When you replace a broken part on your car, it's most likely due to age and wear, and if you replace with a second hand bit it's just as old.

Take the lose one out, it may be the bolt that's stripped, you may just need to change it.
