The light circuit has nothing to do with the gauge power supply, unless the are linked. Check the power supply & earth to them
-
Yep, they are interchangable, subtle differences but shells are the same, infact the whole cabin structure is the same between E12/28. South African series 3 E12 cars (81 -85) were an E12 with E28 interior.
-
Don't forget the rotor too Glenn
-
Had the same in an E30 I had a few years ago. From memory the switch is not very "servicable" May need to change the unit
-
Whatever you do - DONT scrap it. Even if not resurected - it is valuable for E12 parts. Yep, westy needs another project
-
Yup, the drivers side wiper has an ecentric sweep cam - enabling the blade to reach up towards the top corner, therefore nulifying the need to reverse the sweep dirction for RHD cars. Note though - it is biased to LHD setup though. I guess a consequence of the ratio of LHD to RHD cars built

^^^ Think he is meaning date of first production of the E34. Wiki has E34 starting production in Feb 88 & going to 95 which would make sense as E28's went well into 87 & E39's came in 95

Our E12 invariably has a flat battery from sitting too - typical sparky's car I give it a charge occasionally when I think about it, usually when it's already flat though. Ideally they should be maintained, either as Brent says by giving a charge every few weeks or a with an automatic battery maintainer. Cheap simple units can "cook" the battery though. Bear in mind that the battery would have been slowly discharging over time until it gets to the point of no go. A quick drive, or even a longer one will not deep charge the battery, but simply puts a surface charge on it, this is soon lost again when it sits. Compare to putting on a charger for 24 hours or so to fully charge from flat. If fitted with an alarm & sitting with that on - will hasten the battery to flat. Not wise to leave in armed state, unless been compensated with a charging device.

^^^^ Yup, that's about it for m20's usually, maybe to $750. Prolly worth testing the water with though
-
Have driven plenty of E65's & yes they are a very well presented/specced, comfortable cruiser but to me still feel somewhat underwelming to drive - a characteristic of their size. Horses for courses though
-
And E30's and E12's
-
Colour mmmm yep but dunno for a 7. Front, like the front in the first pic better - a little more stately...except that it's going to sleep, just dunno on those brows. Liking the rear view more though. Oh and E39's rule...
-
Certainly nicer than the previous, but have to agree with comment above - looks like it's going to sleep
-
^^^ Yep mine are Shadow Chrome BBS reps, not staggered either but then it's not a 540i/M5
-
Must put an M badge on mine - I've got the 18'' Style 65's....
-
Looks suss anyway with that repainting around model version decals
-
Looks like probably the screen but strange for it to develop as they are eurothaned in. Remove the pillar trim, ease down the ceiling & see if you can see where it's coming from. The pillar curtain air bag is in there so not a good idea for that stayng wet.

Since you are aware of the issue - why not seach the forum on the topic. Don't know how many times now I have answered this, last time within the last couple of months. The unloader relay trigger wire is disconnected, it is normally connected to the starter, where it open circuits the relay while cranking. Just connect this wire to earth, or to the starter if it has provision for

Should be able to - if the AA contractor has a brain...

Belated HB Glenn, Haven't been on here the last few days
-
Check the battery voltage. Checked a couple of weeks ago means nothing now. Won't necessarily make the usual click noise if flat. If you have no way of checking things (sounds like you are guessing)- get someone (an auto sparky) out to the car
-
They obviously "wirr" continuously while going, more than normal noise is an indication the pump is on the way out
-
^^^^ Yup, I smell a rat! Edit sp Edit again - offer now withdrawn
