Doesn't sound like alt from description. Does the battery (alt) light come on & go off when engine starts? If so - probably not alt, but to confirm you need to check or get the charging checked. Your description is a little vague - "takes a while to turn over" you mean cranks fine but doesn't fire or slow cranking?

Pity everyone else doesn't take notice & call Ray- phone numbers right in front of their beak, instead of sitting on arse asking - how much...
-
Yep, personally think a little over the top Ray

The sensor doesn't earth on the strut, it is a closed loop back to the dash. Sounds like you have two RH struts. From memory, the stud you mean is there simply to attach the lead to. Just cable tie it back to the strut or maybe the brake hose mount

^^^^ Would hope so aye If true - a bit spooky as Greg said Yep agree, you either love or hate I guess. Can't be compared with any modern car, but only with those in the same era. Personally I think it looks great - for what it is. Would like to see in the flesh.

Well Matt - don't crack it then...

New window motor replacement, now window won't wind all the way up

Power the motor up directly from a battery. If it goes right up then - all the guides etc are ok. Once up - then go though the reset procedure -
Pics taken when the car was straight... Good luck with it Oli

Yes but in this case by reading - the purpertrater has already admitted liability. I agree with comments above - get it fixed under insurance. I couldn't give a rats for the guy with no insurance - maybe this will teach him a lesson. It gives me the sh:ts with people who fail to cover themselves with car insurance. Why the hell this country has still not seen the light & enforced compulsory third party insurance is beyond me. Any other reputable country has... long ago. As far as bumper goes, there is a Plastic Welder guy here in Te Awamutu who could easily repair that one - I have seen him repair much worse. -
I would have thought they would want proof of ownership but in saying that, all that I have ever got have been through work so under a business
-
Sounds about right to me if they are calculating that on 11 hrs labour - 70ish an hr What about valves while it is apart - checking/lapping, Would be prudent, and stem seals...

With car on the ground get someone to wriggle the wheel while you feeling each joint for movement. You should be able to feel movement in the inner rod joints through the boot by simply clasping the boot over the joint itself

No offence intended but to call all those cars "junk" is being somewhat ignorant. Everything, whether it is appealing or not to you, or anyone specific, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Each to their own. Would be a sad world if everyone only liked Benz or BMW. There are a few cars I could think of that I dislike intensely but there are people/ car clubs out there that adore them. Not my cup of tea but but again - each to their own

Brilliant, very inspiring guy. Thanks for sharing

Interesting - I was aware of them & what & how they built up these cars to modern specs. Also that they exported many of them. That said, I haven't seen one of their cars to comment, but sounds like you guys know something about them that's not quite right? BOT with this car - always loved the Mk2 & thought very seriously on restoring one (Daimler or Jag) a few yrs back, kinda glad I didn't though...for obvious reasons By pictures - I suspect this car is in Japan?

^^^^ Should be able to get it out with a centre punch & hammer
-
Each to their own I guess. I like, & I can't say that about all Astons ever built. Interior is pretty well English tradition of the era - a somewhat likeness to RR/Bently or even Jag/Daimler

Nostelgia alright. The sound of those Quattro's in full noise was (& still is) infectious. Was young at the time (IIRC started in 81) & along with mates, we covered thousands of kms traversing the country following these cars around the international rallys here throughout the 80's/90's. The Group B cars were stunning & was a real anti climax for quite a few years after until the Group A's got back to the pace the B's were at.

Drooling Still miss our Quattro Coupe, not that it was a turbo or 20 valve, (non box guards) but still was a brilliant & fun drive. Also the sound of 5 cylinder in full flight. Bit agricultural with build/finsh in comparison to BMW but that was VW in that era. When we got ours (an 86 NZ car back in mid 90's) there were apparently about 80 Quattro Coupes in NZ & about 18 Turbo's (10 valve) This one must surely be one of the last of this shape before going to the un glamourous (in my opinion) S2 car.

As above, $95 ea for wheel cylinders sounds well over the top. Have replaced them on many vehicles over the years, not an E30 though. They normally retail at around the $30 mark. Check Repco, BNT etc. The linings are shoes rather than "pads" that you refer to. NB, drums may or may not require machining, there is no way they can tell without having dismantled to confirm.
