Grant & Martyn - you both will be missed in your moderation roles. I have huge respect for the jobs both of you have done on here to keep things in line. Hope you both still hang around on here.
-
Certainly no constant power to the wiper motor. Must be something to do with your mishap yesterday
-
You need to undo big ends & remove pistons through top. DONT scrap the sump if it's any good - a good demand for them. Can do big end bolts with 10mm socket from memory
-
Currently sitting at $1. Hope it goes a bit higher for you At least $2<_< Na seriously - good luck - I've never been confident enough to do that

Mike, Can't see any problem with hookup of amp as you are using RCA's so is low level. Don't like those bloody scotch lock connections though Don't you like front speaker setup? I find it ok. Will be a bit of rearranging as the front mid & bass speakers mount into a specific enclosure. Sat nav positioning in Jap car is a pain in the a... Gets in the way for boot access. Having said that - mine is still there. All other market cars - they are located in L/H rear by the amp etc. Haven't got round to it yet but I was thinking of fitting a DIN mount DVD player in the L/H corner in a cradle that the Euro nav normally mounts into. One day! Two modules either side in seat back: L/H side - Radio tuner (that crappy Jap one) R/H side - video module (TV tuner)
-
Cheers guys, must be having a lasy day - don't normally log on here at this time of the day
-
Yep, too early for world radio. They came in cars post 09/01 PM me if you can't come up with a tuner
-
Don't waste it, as Dan said - could be of use for someone in race series. These engine ain't being made anymore. Put it on TM
-
Confirming facts: TV is a world tuner. May or may not have NZ as an option in programming menu (some do, some don't) but if not - can still be programmed to suit NZ by selecting Pal Europe or Switzeland in the country menu. Radio - if car is post 09/01 in build - it should have a world radio tuner which can be reprogrammed for Oceania (us). Pre 09/01 cars were market specific with radio tuners. Nav - CANNOT work without retrofitting of a Euro nav unit - conversion pioneered by Jochen & I a few years ago. Yes, he has linked the nav to my TM nav listing. See also this listing I was introduced to today by a bidder on it - 256839259. Selling a Jap nav unit that is only good as a boat anchor outside Japan. I have politely informed the seller it is of no use here & that it may be prudent to update the listing to notify bidders - my question still unanswered Needless to say I informed the bidder that aproached me about it of the facts.

As above - need to remove & inspect the switch assy. I doubt it being a bad earth though. Is it only one direction that it moves itself? - Foward? No other eg back, up, or down?
-
Could be Dave's new "Taxi" for the track
-
Is the side panel that houses the switch on the seat secure? If not - the switch assy may have detached & internal be causing a problem
-
Rather than tin & solder side by side (when splicing one cable end into an existing wire) - it is much easier & tidier (along with being a more secure connection) to twist the wire around the other - then solder. Then tape or heat shrink. If you use proper loom tape & wrap tightly around the connection - the result is fine. If joining two ends - again twist together & solder - a neat joint once taped or heat shrunk. Graham's method is good but can tend to give a bulky joint at the double over (particually with thicker wire)
-
Yep Dave - confirmed on my E39. Pinion underneath rack & rods tie in front of the strut link (so push)
-
Great pics & a great result. You must be happy with outcome. I can sure see the work that has gone into this. Well done!
-
Better retract Fugly I guess Your car for one, (Nick's another) has to be an exception as it is probably the best looking E36 I have seen - only pics of it of course. Although they do look good on them, I think I would still run without
-
Nup Fugly!
-
Can do it or a couple of boxes (i'm assumming booze) - shite you're cheap labour!
-
Been discussed here before. Bound to be the flasher at fault & is easliy fixed. Problem normally a dry solder joint inside on the board
-
Yes they interchange, however some have side repeaters & some don't.

Nice car there. Good on you! Somehow no comparison to a Telstar Band expander BLAAA!! Euro radio a must - if you listen to & want reception. Thought though - what year is the car? may have a world tuner in it already Nav - not a must but bloody great! Had to justify it myself & mine being the guinea pig first car - was the most expensive too. A lot of happy campers with working nav around the country since.
-
US using positive to ground - Don't think so! That was used to wire dinosours
-
Fine if like you & I & know what we are looking for. For someone not savy with cars - they rely on someone who is to confirm it's status - good, bad or indifferent. Marcus - bum deal At least your radio & nav is good now though
-
Good on you! EFI - Flooding - sure do! If engine fails to fire straight away (sluggish cranking or whatever) - fuel is still being dumped in while cranking & if not firing - it is not burning & therefore just compounds the issue. If severe enough - wide open throttle won't clear it either & the only way to clear is to remove & dry or replace the plugs. I have been to so many callouts over the years where this has been the problem - all sorts of cars too Edit: Towing won't make a difference either. If the plugs are not firing a spark to burn the fuel while cranking - unlikely to fix by towing (unless cranking speed is just to low through low voltage - then spark will also be weak)
-
Listen at pump while someone cranking - should hear/feel if working Have you removed the plugs? Are they wet? Still sounds to me as if flooded
