For an 87 E30 320i you require a getrag 240 box ( or bigger 260 will fit) - to fit an M20 engine. You also require everything else in the conversion - pedal box (brake pedal + manual bolt at least - to convert auto pedal box), clutch master & slave cylinders, fluid line, box, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, release bearing, spigot bearing, manual d/shaft or at least manual front section to convert yours. A straight forward job but with respect - if you are asking on clutch & flywheel - I recommend you get help from someone who knows. Edit to description

Not doubting at all but merely reacon the Alpina looks staunch
-
Could be a lack of fuel (pump/relay etc) but I doubt it as it probaby wouldn't repeatedly start & run as you describe. From your description, my first suspicion would be that it may be flooded. Have you tried cranking while holding full throttle? If so & no go - remove plugs & check if wet to confirm. If so - will need drying/replacing. While out - crank engine (disconnect coil) with wide open throttle to clear. Seen this scenario as the culprit many times.

E39 (just) for me. Closely followed by E60. Reacon they look pretty staunch - particually Alpina as below

Nathan, Why not just replace the universals & hanger?
-
Yep, correct ^^^^ both the same
-
Shite Nathan, you're a little optomistic Most go as a conversion. Good luck though
-
Allan, quite likely one of the faults you mention but as has already been said - get it scanned to confirm otherwise anything is just a guess.

Soooooooo, Andrews a muppet! Calendar - good idea
-
Priceless! Yea, can't see - which one is you Dave? Back OnT Happy B Gerald. Have a good one & get that diff organised
-
You don't say what model 320i? Check the A/C drain hose is connected properly & leading out through firewall
-
Surely "no" it won't fit is enough. After all - this is what you asked! Even if it is similar - doesn't mean it will or can be made to. They are different for a reason. If you stop debating the whys & wherefores on here & just ring around for an E34 one - the job could have been done. Edit - spelling

Also, ignoring car memory drain from the battery, a battery will also self discharge over time too. They don't like not being used. That said - the calcium batteries are a little more tollerent in sitting compared to the standard lead acid type

Windows only go up and down when door is open?

Problem in probably in unloader relay or circuit. Cuts these circuits while cranking. Check for disconnected wire at starter - control wire for unloader relay. If unsure - see an auto sparky -

Yep, saw the last show & yes thought as good overall. Wouldn't bother going to next though.

The link to TM will probably be an ex Singapore car as it has working sat nav etc. Exception may be a very early Jap car. So generally -if you go for ex Jap - you won't get the nav working & may have issues with programming radio for here.
-
PM Jochen, He knows the guy who built it - I think
-
Hope you've had a good one Andy. Catch you in a week or so
-
Clinton, Your RR is a new generation one under Ford ownership I think. I just did a Jap - NZ nav conversion in an 05 (built 04) RR today, which is the BMW based vehicle & quite different to what you show. I understand the changeover was in 05.

Agree - $280 for a DIN 55 is a rip off. A DIN 88 (to suit E39 etc) can be got for around that price

Modern cars big electrical demands & consequently big output alternators put huge loads on batteries. Calcium batteries are more able to cope with the higher charging voltages & generally higher under bonnet temperatures (admittedly not yours - being in the rear) of a modern car. An old school standard battery won't cut the mustard in these cars.
