  1. Well if someone has the time, and the passion, and the dollars, and the know how, this could be an interesting project. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1328357126.htm https://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/CB06518/EN
  2. http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=1328065736 Used to have the plate RAYZR, might be familiar to someone. Asking $1500, talks about transmission needing service... i take that as code that it shifts like a dog but they think fresh oil will fix it... expired wof also, no plans to get one, never a good sign. https://carjam.co.nz/car/?plate= JAW591 https://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/GE68588/EN
  3. Put a 316 badge with a superscript 2 on it 316Ti²
  4. Could you verify the VIN? The last 7 digits of the LTSA loaded one doesn't seem to be the correct one, comes up as an R75 bike?
  5. My observations, for what they are worth, is that it seems Autos are worth about half a factory manual, and conversions seem to sit in the middle. Depending how much work you do yourself, it's possible you could recover at least the parts value of your conversion when it comes time to sell. If you really like to drive, manuals provide a much more engaging driver experience, especially in a 325, IMO, that adds an intangible value greater than any resale value for you.
  6. Spotted a W badge in Linwood this evening.
  7. Spotted a very rare E61 W model near Eastgate in christchurch. i.e. the M badge is upside down.
  8. The hero we all want, and need.
  9. I'm not familiar with the N42 engines, but that sounds like a lot, you could swap an entire second hand engine for that kind of money. I'd suggest calling a BMW specialist repairer, for general servicing and such local garages are usually cheaper than a BMW garage, but when it comes to specialist work like this, often the BMW garage is cheaper as they are more likely to be familiar with the task.
  10. I can't do it on my mobile, but if you look at the images they have a Trademe user name that doesn't match the Vendor, you could probably search the members listings and find it, assuming they were the prior vendor.
  11. Well, I'm still doing some sluething, but it's unlikely I'll buy it now, even if an FPO or second miraculously pop up because the 'other buyer' changed their mind...
  12. Yeah, it definitely saved me a BUNCH of grief, I was probably going to have to buy it and hide it at a friends place in Auckland for a month or two haha.
  13. I've stopped bidding as the Auto bid by 'Rick' from the north shore with minimal trade history, just seems a bit suspicious when the vendor is 'Richard', also from the north shore with minimal trade history, feels like a Shill... if a FPO pops up i'll be even more suspicous.
  14. I think more concerning is the WoF expires in a week, no record of a failed inspection, but that doesn't mean the vendor doesn't know about a WoF Deal Breaker.
  15. I'm probably going to give the auction a nudge and hope the missus doesn't complain
  16. Never a good sign when someone flips a BMW within a few weeks, but even if the motor or box was on the way out, probably still great value for money up to 5k or so
  17. This seems like somthing rare that someone might need, stumbled on it while looking for something else. https://www.trademe.co.nz/1322274399
  18. Nabbed for a steal at $3,030! I so wanted to bid, but the boss said no. anyone here? i suspect the buyer will tidy it up and flick it on.
  19. What he said, also, if in doubt use real OEM for all sorts of useful comparisons, or in my case, working out what my frankenbeamers need (Late model E30 320i with an Early E21 M20B23 was always a bastard) http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=1548-ZA-03-1991-E30-BMW-325i&diagId=11_4365 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=1448-ZA-05-1991-E30-BMW-320i&diagId=11_4365
  20. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1312838165.htm Looks like a bargain for someone willing to throw some time and money at it... someone should make sure the bidding goes over 3.5k so I'm not at all tempted myself. It's a smidge under 265,000 km (Listing and car in miles), so just nicely run in for the next owner. From Listing;
  21. I didn't speak with the dealer, just a random local bear it that knew the dealer and the butcher. Call the guy on the business card.
  22. Admittedly I did take my E34 540iS from 320ish Ks to 380ish and it cost less to run than my E30 with half the K's... sold it for close to twice what I paid for it too if memory serves.
  23. Drove past this while road tripping on the weekend, close to 350ks though, local guy reckoned it used to be owned by 'the butcher', you have to love small towns. https://www.etkbmw.com/bmw/EN/vin/decoder/GF21056/EN https://carjam.co.nz/car/?plate=Alh563
