  1. Did anyone else hear their english teacher correcting the title to 'My car & I?'
  2. I imagine about 50 people a day laughing at and trying to pronounce the name of the manufacturing plant. looks like a fun drive though, you should try get a test ride.
  3. That Depends, If we are talking financial performance, overall motoring cost per km, I'd probably be doing alright. Even with less than half the power and probably twice the weight, when it's on a nice dirt track in L4 it still feels plenty powerful.
  4. Heck, makes me feel better about my V8 Landcruiser which sits around 18-20L/100k and doesn't seem to give two shits if I'm on the open road or driving around town.
  5. Fan bump, can attest that these engines rock past 340k with minimal dramas, in my personal experience anyway.
  6. Bump, still 2.5k, now has fresh WoF and Rego.
  7. 1998 E36 318iS question what is this thing, should it be making an audible buzzing sound (that can be felt as a vibration when it's touched) when key is in position 2 and car is not started? once started too many other sounds and vibrations to determine if it's still doing it. unrelated perhaps but when I switch the engine off there is a weird hissing sound followed by a spitting sound... 8. Does anyone in a christchurch have a tool I can use to read my error codes and try reset the warning light for airbag in my E36? just failed a Wof as the lamp never illuminates, pulled the cluster out and the bulb was absent with a bunch of tape over the outline of the symbol to make it invisible. New bulb turned on straight away, staying on.
  9. Bump and price drop to 2.5k
  10. Spotted while returning home from a friends place, don't think it's on Trademe. was too dark to have a decent look or get a decent photo. 0272226166 is the number on the window. if anyone calls I'm curious to know more about it, but not serious about buying so I won't bother the owner myself.
  11. https://trademe.co.nz/1251246670 looks loved and cared for
  12. Bump & price drop to $2.75k
  13. Broken for me too, unless I'm on the site when a message comes through
  14. This is an unfortunate and reluctant sale. TLDR just had surgery will be 6 months or more till I can get in and out of it without f**king myself up, and landcruiser needs some $$ spent on it to get a WOF. This car is loads of fun to drive, have done a fair amount of work on it and it's getting close to mint, it's only the following things away from being a 5-6K car imo. The Bad Needs Respray and bumper tidy up) clear coat going) sun roof doesn't work (closed and leak free though) Rear left door lock solenoid temperamental, needs replaced, tends to stay in locked position at least. some of the plastic stud things missing from inside front passenger door card. The Good (And repairs I've done) Replaced passengers side kidney grill. (old pic sorry) Back tyres new a few months ago Eibach lowering springs. (Again old pic, looks great irl) 2-1/4 exhaust I think, to DTM style muffler, idle and cruise reasonable noise level... acceleration is probably unreasonable, professionally fitted by Magoo on ferry road. Sounds kind of like a race prepped E30 M3 when on full song. (from the back anyway) Gearbox swapped and new clutch when I got it, old one slipped out of third, yours if you want it. New OEM E36 Z3 shifter, OEM M 5 speed genuine leather knob, and every bush clip and pin replaced in the shifter linkage, only original part is the selector rod. Front window regs both replaced. amazing miles per gallon & smiles per gallon. (Compared to my E30 M20B23 anyway) Factory hot weather air intake installed (had a shitty pod filter rig) E36 M3 front cross brace installed, made a big difference. Interior in pretty good nick, some black smudges on a pillar and worn through on outer edge of drivers Right bolster, head lining doesn't sag at all though. This is the South African commemorative M318, factory 5 speed 4 door E36 318's are fairly rare, and if you put factory wheels back on it will look awesome(r) it probably owes me about 4 or 5k, looking for $3250 $2750 $2500 PMs have been unreliable here so try my cell 0273005838 For some reason I can't upload new pics via safari to this post right now... so old pics attached, will upload new and interior pics a bit later.
  15. I wonder how this applies to the rest of the world, I know myself and many bimmersporters are Manualists who lament at the difficulty of buying a manual BMW in NZ... http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/laautoshow/la-fi-hy-disappearing-stick-shift-20161115-story.html
  16. I noticed the same, i wondered if it was related to me enabling desktop notifications.
  17. Purchased as part of a kit, but the pressure plate didn't actually fit my 318iS's flywheel as mine is a 98... doh. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-clutch-pressure-plate-z3-318i-318is-318ti-3082895201 PN 3082 895 201 Should fit; 91-98 318i 95-99 318Ti 91-97 318iS 96 - 98 Z5 $250
  18. Have these up on trademe. $375 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1199617121
  19. Have these up on trademe, $400 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=1199536139
  20. Spotted this outside. Dealership today, Merc AMG 190E 3.2, as I sped past initially I thought it as an Evo2 and nearly wet my pants. Left hook And Auto unfortunately, but still a cool car. these were the first AMG sold through Merc dealerships with a new car warranty for the paltry sum of US$90,000ish at the time which would be more than $160,000 in today's money. Evidently it's a salesmans car, not going on the lot.
  21. clutch, Flywheel, gertrag 260, part the shifter sits inside, front and rear driveshafts, i'd consider sellng the shaft separately for the right offer, PM an offer?
  22. If he doesn't, I've got most of it.
  23. In theory yes... since I've been released from service they couldn't send me to SCE anymore (Military Prison) as a result... If I had 40K burning a hole in my pocket probably be be cheaper and more fun to swap my E36 318IS for an E36 M3, whack a supercharger on that, and use the money left to Supercharge my V8 landcruiser
