  1. I'll be up on the 15th of October, you can show it to me then, we both know you have an M5 collecting problem ;-)
  2. Bought by someone in Auckland it seems, sight unseen, for somewhere between 15K (my offer) and his asking price
  3. Would there be any way to get cruise control functioning on this?
  4. The rear shaft section is always the same length in my experience, regardless of engine, doors or transmission. the front section is specific length for specific gear boxes. And the hanger in the middle is also different between PFL and later, but the bearing is the same size so you can swap the hanger. the gear shift mounting plate thing is also specific to gearbox. you can pull the two sections apart with some jiggling and force.
  5. I think it's unlikely that any residual water in the exhaust would be vaporised so quickly by a cold engine. Pull all your plugs out making a note of their position and post a pic of you like, the colour of plugs, and (dis)similarities tells a lot. compression test often shows best, while cold and again while hot to find out if any funny business is going on. could also be a vacuum leak that self plugs once vacuum builds up. if you idle for a few minutes then pull away aggressively does it dump some smoke of the same colour?
  6. Plugs causing rough running would be from not burning fuel, which would probably result in Black smoke, and a noticeable fuel smell behind the vehicle. White is usually water, or oil being burned. its pretty quick to check plugs, but I'd be looking at checking radiator for bubbles, oil for emulsification, or doing a compression test to check the head gasket or head. you may have water or oil getting in a couple of cylinders whole cold, but heat expansions closes it up enough to not be an obvious problem.
  7. Maybe $600 to $800 at the most. Depends how how long you want to sit on it. figures based on my manual E30 320 purchased back from insurer at scrap value for $400 (main damage being exhaust... Long story) and my parts E30 320 also manual that I purchased de reg with nice wheels for $800, it was pov spec though and would have taken a lot of effort to get back on the road.
  8. I Have two M20B23 engines, one has a 4 Bolt flange at the end of the exhaust manifold and the other a 3 bolt. Are these the same at the engine? Does it matter what style of exhaust manifold gasket I use? The 3 bolt manifold engine is now in the car, but I want to use the 4 bolt exhaust (The 3 bolt exhaust interferes with the gearbox mount). swapping manifolds is going to be a lot easier than merging the two exhausts together somewhere after the flange.
  9. What is the cause of this corrosion, what is the best method to remove it?
  10. https://trademe.co.nz/1081955803 So he lists it as M52B28, looks like an M engine though?
  11. http://www.trademe.co.nz/browse/listing.aspx?id=1078805550&/listing?rfm=1 Price seems a little steep for the work remaining... No pics either
  12. It's normal to salivate when you see a nice car... Right?

  14. Found it on the side of the road just south of Timaru. Pics and contact details below He was looking for 4K, it's ex UK, has done just under 160,000 Miles I believe. Looks all original except maybe wheels.

  17. Okay so Noooooooooooow the E30 is back on the road, and road legal! Hat Tip to RS Sinclair in CHCH for the WoF. Electrical gremlins all fixed, tacho and econometer all going, and damage from time and idiocy repaired on dash cluster and SI board. Tomorrow I be rolling. Okay one small issue, not sure how normal it is, shuddering on takeoff once it's done a few takeoffs, all good when everything is cold. Upside if i need to replace the clutch is I can put the Getrag 260 back in, was too lazy when I did the engine change to swap the box too.
  18. Okay have fixed it, and a few other oddities (like the unloader relays not being connected anymore). Now have the E21 M20B23 running happy as larry. Tacho and Econo needles went all haywire due to me putting the long screws in the lower inboard position on the dash surround... i.e. the screws ate through a few tracks on the SI board... doh... all repaired now, and dead lamps and LED's replaced while i'm at it, and some dry joins reflowed.
  19. I did get it working for a few hours, then it and the tacho signal started freaking out together. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
  20. Were you perchance the gentleman that offered them $400 for the shell sans mechanicals?Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
