    Coolant Temp

Is your coolant tank empty again?? Could be lots of different things.. if you had to fill the coolant tank up, depending on how much you had to pour in.. I would be looking more towards a leak in the cooling system. Have your cooling system pressure tested (this will show any leaks immediately). If none are present. I would start looking at the other possibilities.. Air Lock.. Possibly the water pump has died.. Thermostat.. Cracked head/blown headgasket.. And as previously stated STOP driving it until you get it fixed.. overheating = bad for engine..
  3. It must be the non electric window option that makes it so rare
  4. And a cold heater.... not fun if you are heading up the mountain..
  5. http://www.hambling.co.nz/ or supplies from http://www.topmark.co.nz/articlelive/artic.../Full-View.html
  6. Out of curiosity what would one expect to pay for one of these?? and would they fit onto an E34?? Reason I ask is I gave one to a friend (or rather had one taken out of one of my E34's while I was away on holiday). I hate his car everytime I see his nice steering wheel.
  7. I've had a few cases where the starter motor is not lined up properly when its mounting bolts are tightened. Makes a horrible grinding noise while starting. You can move the starter quite a bit when the bolts are loosened. I have just loosened the mounting bolts, readjust the starter motor tighten again, try again. Have only ever had to readjust the starter once on the different cars it has happened on.
  8. I'll bring one up for you on the 22nd if you havnt got one sorted by then.
  9. Chairs guys another year gone hopefully make it through to the next one... Don't forget boozing it up on the 22nd August Might have a honda for us all to thrash around our track up in Opononi.. just have to watch the giant trees at the end of the straight.. No I'm too old for that.. Going up to Helensville to .....| .....| ...\ | / ....\ / .....V and then .....| .....| ...\ | / ....\ / .....V Heh yeah, I miss the donuts.. Ask Keith if he wants to use the tractor over night. Its needs another clean.. just as long as he doesnt have a 520i to swap it with.. that was PAINFULL. oh so painfull.. and it to make it worse it was PINK!! Thinking about it... That was the last time I came to visit you guys
  10. I will be there either way... as long as im not forking out for the safety equipment for a once off. Once a month would be well worth a full roll cage build.. I would rethink using an M20 engine though...
  11. I see benefits and appeals to both approaches. There is the fun of a high speed track, just like a real race series in a dunga - but unfortunatly there is a bigger cost and all the red tape, and cotton wool which venues have to impose due to certain clowns who don't like bum smacking and ear pulling... but we wont get into that issue... And then there is the hillbilly approach who like bum smacking and ear pulling "lets just use common sense" approach have it in a large open area and slow it right down so you are only going to die if you are really stupid. And just have fun.. But we will probably all end up in court for making too much noise and sending dust onto 1000 year old Pohutukawa trees 50 miles down the road..
  12. I understand now. High speed dunga's sounds dangerous.. AND SO MUCH FUN!!.. what standard will the rollcages have to meet?
  13. What safety requirements will need to be met on the cars? I've had a bit to do with demo derby's and understand this would have the potential to reach much higher speeds, most derby's are slowed down alot by wetting the track resulting in little traction so the speeds are controlled this way. The safety reinforcing of the vehicles are soley at the drivers discretion. Most put a decent fence post (reinforcing) behind the drivers seat, for protection in rollovers, Driver window nets are compulsory, no glass on the vehicle, wire reinforcing mesh has to be put in place of the windscreen. the drivers side door is allowed as much strengthening as you want. It is the only part of the car that is allowed to be filled with concrete. Obviously this is not a demo derby and will be strictly non contact I assume? But due to the increased speed capability safety must be the main focus.. Would it defeat the purpose of an endurance race if the speed was controlled, by means such as obstacles and slaloms etc. Rollcages/racing seats/harnesses will cost far more than the actuall cars themselves. If speed was eliminated would it be neccesary to have rollcages/racing seats/harnesses? Mandatory rollover protection to protect the driver i agree with. but full rollcage, racing seat and harness I think could be eliminated. At the end of the day there will be marshall's who have the discretion to Black flag any driver they see fit behaving badly.
  14. I think $500 would make it more competitive it would then be an endurance race for the 2 hours.. $1500 would be a breeze to last 2 hours.. I could build some e34 contenders, just a bit of block sealer and curry powder should do the trick
  15. Hah no, its hard to let go of.. although no hoist for now is making it a bit easier to start to forget.. decided to keep it another week so we can at least have one rip roaring party in there. almost emptied out.. ive had my days occupied with trying to sort out some missing cars.. went to see them this morning down at their yard. its quite a site seeing them swinging 20ft above being thrown round like ragdolls. I better stop its turning into an Emily chatroom
  16. I live amongst coconut trees and banana trees not palm trees
  17. Isn't that where Ollie lives???
  18. Can't beat the real deal.. anything else is just like an M badge on a 318ti
  19. It might go missing and end up REALLY REALLY high on a lamp post somewhere in Redhill
  20. As Glenn said, check the bulb, it may have blown.

    E30 Bottlecaps

Gone Woohoo 4 less pieces of junk...
  22. Start the car, turn on your headlights and push that button, walk to the back of your car, if your rear lights are annoyingly bright and you get sunburned from the red light being emitted. then they are working. You will probably notice many cars following you at night will rudely flash their highbeams at you, and then they will probably turn their highbeams on and leave them on a short while later, then they will over take you and try to push you off the side of the road when they merge back into the lane. they will most likely turn on some annoying really bright red lights on the back of their car, this is a sign that they want to kill you and you should immediately push that rear fog lamp button to turn those "I am free to be killed by someone following behind me" off. I hope you are trying to find out if these work because you live somewhere that gets really thick fog.. and not to drive around at night to peel paint off cars and burn out other motorists eyeballs.
  23. Sounds like an air leak, or ICV needs a clean.. when you put the rocker cover back on, what condition was the gasket in? did you tighten the breather hose on top of the rocker cover under the manifold? They would be about the only things you would have disturbed when you took the rocker cover off. Check those and then pull the Idle Control Valve off. ICV picture - Item 3 in the picture Spray some carb cleaner into the inlet and outlet of the ICV and rotate it quickly so you can see the mechanism inside turn. keep doing it till the inside moves quite easily, these build up lots of gunk over the years and need a good clean out. sometimes you may need to spray carb cleaner in it and then poke your finger in to rotate the inside bit to help get it moving. You should be able to make that inside bit move quite freely by just giving it a quick turn in your hand. bolt it back on and see how you get on.. that has worked some magic on oh so many m20's I've worked on over the years.
