Don't know why you wouldn't consider a E60/1 530i in the wagon - they can be had for unbelievable money at the moment. Then you have that and the CRV which will both take lots of gear.

Sometimes I think stuff like that is so bad it's almost good, surely the Toyota is an in joke?

E39 shop fest advice wanted. 525i, 525i Touring, or 530i?

They're actually both autos if you look at the picture, it's just a seller who must be confused. -

It's amazing how cheap these cars are now for what you get. Without commenting on the particular cars you've got listed, I would recommend the 530i in terms of engine. I had one for about four years and it was the best combination overall. I drove a couple of 525i's when looking to buy and they always felt slightly underpowered, particularly if you're planning on doing open road driving. Any reason why you're not looking at these? http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1242778126.htm http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-1199307938.htm -
Can you claim insurance on that kind of thing?

Need a replacement insurer for E60 2009 BMW 550i

Wow, hope they have changed since then! -
Looks fantastic. Lovely lines.

Maybe see what this guy will offload this for and get it fixed or put in a used box: https://trademe.co.nz/1234442969

I love Honda auctions: "we had it serviced and purchased two new tyres" Whereas in a BMW auction: "Comes with a filing cabinet full of receipts, recommend pallet jack to remove" i would have thought the transmission would be the weakest link in any of these cars, and given the cost to repair might make it uneconomic.

I'm with state and can't speak highly enough of them. Had a claim a few years ago on my E39 and they insisted that the repairer used BMW parts. Was all pretty painless. Didn't seem to change my premium much at all, I think given that I've been with them for 10 years plus I locked in some kind of lifetime discount or something. -
I've just completed an almost 4000km road trip and managed about 11L/100km in the X5, pretty happy with that.

We followed a really nice blue e46 330i wagon out of Dunedin heading north on New Years Day. Don't know if the owner is on here or not but it was a beautiful car.

"80's dentist car" lol. I really love these old SECs, what a great car they ended up with. Must be honest, with those seats and wood trim they added, I'm surprised they only spent 400 bucks on the interior.

Put it this way, if it were me, I'd go for the BavSound. Which probably means it's not the way to go if you really know what you're doing!
-
There is a bunch of used Harmon Cardon stuff on EBay as well as pre-fit speaker holders. I don't claim to know about audio but that might be useful. Also if I recall correctly the guy's in the US always recommended the BavSound stuff for their E39s and E46s. Given what you're trying to do, it all comes as a bit and is just plug and play.

SOLD - Thanks very much.

I think this would be the business for that budget: https://trademe.co.nz/1177598979

I was thinking the same, however you'd want to get a warranty with that age and mileage and I don't know how well these would qualify. I owned an E39 and it wasn't very reliable, sample of one I know but I had to replace the whole cooling system between 100-120kms which wasn't that fun. Fuel pump failures and various suspension components meant a folder thick with receipts over the three and a half years I had it. The only advice I can give is buy the best example you can and make sure you keep a few bucks in reserve, they are not cheap to maintain or fix if you're paying someone to do it.

You animal... I would check out the other listings he has on the go. Might answer a few questions...
-
Don't happen to remember what they're called do you?
-
Yup, the camera on my X5 is pretty hopeless, especially at night. This car looks nice, seems keen to command a premium with the KMs but the Bluetooth and other stuff are nice options.
-
Even though I have the pando... mentally I struggle with it. A space saver would make me feel better. For what it's worth when I looked for the X5 the space saver kit was about $500 and shipping $300. I don't know if you could source it cheaper locally or not, guess second hand would be the way to go.

Thanks for the recommendation, maybe I should look at them again. I guess the two front windows would not take that long. Has anyone had experience with Hyper over in Grey Lynn for this? Thanks.
