Those are all good points - I did wonder about the building paper and like people have pointed out, if you can’t get between the framing and the tin then it’s not as useful. So what I’m taking from this is that: - don’t bother with insulation (one less thing to worry about). - leave a gap at the bottom for airflow given that I won’t be able to form an effective barrier all the way round. - 12mm not 10mm ply. Power - I think I am good, it’s a single garage and it’s got 4 double plugs in different areas already.

Hi team, We have a garage on our property which I assume was built in the 1970’s. Pretty standard NZ stuff - tin skin over wooden framing. I want to line this with a view to getting all my garden tools etc off the floor and onto the walls. Generally just clean up the space which is letting the property down! After that I intend to tackle the floor with either an epoxy or carpet tiles just to clean that up. There are a few cracks I’ll need to repair and I suspect the slab has moved as the side door drags - I have no idea if I can have that ground down (I’d hate to think what’s in the slab) so will consult a professional. From what I read the process seems to be: 1. Building paper onto the tin for a moisture barrier. I will admit to being a novice with this - do you simply staple the paper between the studs as won’t be able to get in behind the framing due to the nails in the tin being there... does that then introduce moisture into the framing? 2. Insulation- which seems to be optional - I assume it gives some additional moisture protection? 3. Wall covering which can be anything from ply to MDF to plaster board - I think I will do ply (10mm enough?) for ease and durability. Will also paint it white to bounce some light around. Anyone done theirs and has any advice to share? Interested to understand what different people used and if they were doing it again what lessons they would have learnt. Thanks!

Wait, what?! They’re not the standard Motorsport seats you find in the M3? Something’s fishy here...

I think you’re confused about who made the original post...

I think that life outcome is already well set in motion before an encounter in a supermarket carpark as a teenager.

Sorry, Mum.

This is like the New Zealand version of “Falling Down”.

A X7 with “X3” on the back of it. Yes, I double checked...

Must resist...

Surprised not to see the Fiat Multipla or whatever it’s called...

Yeah, except the one in the link is really not well spec'd. Plus you get to enjoy the timing chain issues in the M62 so pick your poison.

I hope no one is buying these cars for reliability... I would prefer the 750 over that 740. I’ve never liked the grape or eggplant coloured interiors.

Might have been a dealer MD or something, you never know but with 14 owners in NZ according to CarJam I don’t know how anyone could be sure of anything. There was a period of time where it seemed like every used imported S Class and 7 Series was a “diplomatic car” in Japan or Singapore when it was sold here.

I see there is already a helpful “question” from the peanut gallery that it’s a “5k car” this spec with low kms even with the cosmetics is pretty hard to find these days if there are no hand grenades lurking in it.

https://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-2997965766.htm Not sure about some of the claims and the condition of the paint but it’s an interesting car and interior is in pretty good condition.

That’s interesting - I looked at one Winger was selling ‘14 330D wagon for circa 45k back in 2019 with the about 80k on the clock. No warranty etc provided with it. I thought it was pretty overpriced at the time. Didn’t help that the salesperson was deeply unpleasant either.

I find the premium the bigger diesel wagons command to be amazing, especially when you compare to X5s of the F15 generation. Great cars though.

Nice, a friend indeed.

Ha! Isn’t that every post in this thread?

The MIQ system which is so limited and inflexible meaning I can’t get offshore to see customers who you can only really make progress with in person. I just wish we could take the view of doing everything we can as safely as we can. Rather than just locking down into Fortress NZ and doing as little as possible... I’ll probably get crucified for that view but so be it.

Interesting steering wheel - is that factory as part of the “carbon kit” or whatever it is?

Hello, McFly...why did you import that?

I can understand the coupe but not the standard convertible... -
I think I had two out of my last three BMWs and Mercedes which had mechanical warranties on them and were never used. So call that $6k over 6-7 years... Then, the evaporator core in my X5 sprang a leak. That sucker is buried deeeeeeeeep in the dash. Went into Auckland BMW to have the whole dash removed and for it to be redone. Cost me $350 for my deductible, safe to say It would have blown out most of that 6K. It’s like insuring your house. Waste of money if you’re 100% confident it will never be victim to fire, flood or anything else.

And of course the same battery is 200 quid in the UK... FFS. 🤬

$850 for a battery?! Wow. For reference when I put one in my E70 X5 it was $450 and that thing liked a lot of juice. What’s so special about an A5 that it needs to be powered like a Space Shuttle?
