    M50 vs. M54

If I can put a M54b25 into a compact and get it sorted you should fly home with it but I do understand it can seem a daunting proportion. Just research and research check and label things then lay them out as you dismantle. Break the project up into small achievable pieces that way it makes it so much easier and before you know it it will be up and running best of luck.

Its the first time I've felt one while in a car even had time to stop.It was only then that I realised it was an earthquake as I watched the road move still checked the tyres just in case

  11. Car Jam has four sets of plates showing CEM8, ITATEI, KAPRTS, HBW434 safe to say it's had four owners or more. At an average of 14,000k's per year at $5,624 running costs, car jam that is expensive imo. But energy wise state $3,000 is that fuel alone It is a ten year old vehicle done nearly double the average ks, 262,405 so it's been driven a little more a sales man's car or such Assembled april 2004 first rego NZ 9th August 2004. For me the schnizter stuff makes it look front and rear butt ugly wheels do nothing for me either but each to their own taste.
  12. Upon reading this thread a thought " It's a hard road to hoe to meet the perfect woman mate" from a speights add I believe chuckle, chuckle
  13. Speed limits are set I believe by the powers to be ie local councils 50, 60, 80 zones, land transport 25, 45, 65, corner, dips, road conditions etc and police 104, 108, ticket issued or any combination of the above. Speeding a result from a decision made by you weather to brake the speed limit or not you the driver has that We may not like them but they are guide lines for the motoring public to use for their own safety. In that two other factors I believe need to be looked into and these may have been mentioned. Obtaining a drivers license this has under gone a few changes in past years but knowing the road code and half hour driving test (or what ever the time maybe) is a far call from being behind the wheel of a modern car in the traffic conditions of today and physically and mentally coping. Some extra training needs to be looked ie skid control, driving safely mental attitude. It is all good to hold a license and driven for years but do you know how you will react if it all of a sudden hits the fan.To have been their done that under controlled conditions gives you that little bit more knowledge, control which could be the factor that saves your hide. Roads These vary dramatically in New Zealand from sealed 2,3 lane motor ways, tar sealed road, gravel, sand. Their is no doubt that traffic volumes have increased but imo the general roading system has not it has been a sticking plaster on a cut artery mentally for decades. The type of road construction used also needs to be improved upon. Even at the end of the day if we had the best roads in the world, safest cars etc etc we will still have speed limits and speeders

    For real or not

OK, first I deleted the rego number out of courtesy to the owner. As per title is it a e39 540 with a badge attached or is it a proper M sport 540???. Some have given their thoughts on it per the limited info and my thanks. Have to admit my first thought was a stick on badge job, muffler been altered etc etc. But never judge a book by its cover GF12585 Assembled Nov 2000 japan rego March 2001 NZ rego October 2003 Sub model M sport.

    Cluster lights

Have two warning lights come up on the cluster, lower left quarter. Just after some info on what is going on. 1. Appears to be a warning for the wind screen washer bottle being low or empty, both are full how do you isolate which one as the Ti has front and rear bottles also have looked at sensor wiring etc on the front one and can see nothing out of place. 2. A outline of an engine and a flash EML which goes out have looked in hand manual and it says something about emission degrading see BMW dealer. This occurred some twenty minutes after driving it in the rain and then using it again. Also have look on line and the reasons for this are all over the place so a bit confused. Looking into getting it scanned at the earliest opportunity the new year now. Vehicle is a 2002 ti with a M54B25, TIM 325 thanks for your help.
  18. Understanding what "M" is (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M) might help. BMW is notorious for having that many variants with in it's different models. That the "M" brand has lost it true statues. They used to be all hand made up to the E34 I believe , correct me if wrong then after that they slapped a M badge on any thing that had a few changes made to it.
  19. This subject has been thrown about many times before the battery is the heart of your vehicle skimp on it and expect trouble. For me from the E38 model on the amount of electric stuff present and working in BMW's is unreal and a got power source is essential this was demonstrated by a scan carried out on an e90 not long ago. Yes a descent battery will set you back 300 or 400 bucks I bet the next time you or your wife get in the car and it won't start the air and stress level will be through the roof. Plus all the weird fault codes that will be produced as the battery does not preform correctly. The same old same old applies do it once do right. Merry Christmas

    Project Tim 325

Got a phone call this morning to say the cert plate had finally arrived could I bring the car and they would attach it along with the W.O.F. as it had passed that also. Did not need to be asked twice been looking forward to this for some time I can tell you. Next a trip to the Post Office shop and with a 6 month reg label in hand a smile on the dial Tim 325 is now street legal, yes. Next will be the interior changes etc some before and after shots http://s1146.photobucket.com/user/Allanson54/library/tim%20325.

    New NZ Police Cars

They might as well do if their response times are anything to go by and maybe then we might get a decent public transport system . Was told by my parents if in trouble call a police man they will help you this teaching has not stood the test of time" Actions speak louder than words" and my faith in the police has been worn thin. As regards my other comment yes I was poking the stick the police will always need some sort of transport as they cover numerous different situations. The idea was just a possible help in the traffic side of things and isn't this getting off the point of this thread?

    New NZ Police Cars

Why do they need vehicles at all surely with all the modern technology that is available today their job could be curtailed for and example bar code all the number plates if you brake the law it is read by highway camera's and the fine is deducted straight out of your account, demerit points added to license, court papers if needed are sent.
