Young guy up here has one with a wagon R turbo 1000cc engine. Goes awesome! 75Kw.

The motorway would be the most stupid place in the world to go, though really, there must be some weird reason for the crash - she SHOULD have been able to keep control of it with that weight in it. I bet someone in the car did something stupid.
-
Amateurs. We drove to town with 10 of us in my sisters Mini once. Didn't crash it though.

Rust was ONE of the issues... The dealer up here said that as part of the PD service, they had to send them to the panel beaters to have the rust in the doors fixed up I'm surpised how well the spoiler fits to be honest!

I got these: G9 LED replacements From deal extreme, for US$5.96 (3 price) and they are a nice warm colour - not quite like the incandecent ones, but very good for the bathroom. We used to only have 1 bulb in each set of 3 that ever worked, because as soon as you put 3 going ones in, they'd start blowing! The LED ones have been in for ages now, Heat is FAR lower, light is better. If I take into account the cost of continuously replacing halogens, they are very cost effective. Be aware that LEDs often are not dimmable.

Brent is right, they do fail - especially the early 2000's versions. What was the original error codes, before you started swapping parts?

(Had two screaming boy's in the car, and the Mrs wouldn't let me go back... so no photo. But....) Saw a old Lada sedan, you know the ones - brick shaped rear drive Fiat based ones..... With an E30 boot lip spoiler fitted  actually looked OK, but it's still a Lada! OK, so I googled it... found a picture:

I had a less than 3 year old corolla with 120K on it require a manual trans repair, after the synchro on 3rd disappeared. It jumped out of third for the first couple of hundred KMs from new, but Toyota claimed it was unrelated. Of course, being a lease car, they didn't do the clutch when the trans was done, so 10,000 kms later, it was back in for a clutch! Typical lease company... "well serviced" Uh huh!

Just did basically all the suspension, except the rear shocks. Powerflex bushes in the front too - handles AWESOME now, and it's still got crap tyres on it. None of it is too hard, but some special tools are handy. Rear ball joints need a tool, and you want a good size ball joint separator.
-
Fitted new rear balljoints/integral links and upper arms and drop links, front tie rods and powerflex control and thrust arm bushes, swaybar bushes and drop links. Got a wheel alignment - handles awesome now! nice and tight, no tramlining and really responsive.
-
True! The rubber and plastic bits are probably poked from age anyway, so it might need the same money spent. If it were a manual facelift wagon........
-
Nah, they're all 13's, so not much help!
-
Do you want any E21 wheels? Steels OK? My mate Andrew prolly has some (prolly a few sets). Will PM you his number if you want.

When my last house was built (before energy savers!) the bulbs were all Sylvania - I replaced one in the few years I lived there. The new house had some cheapass brand that came in the lights, and they basically all died within about 18 months! They're mostly energy savers and LED now anyway... Dealextreme Edit: Needed a bulb for a scope at work the other day - 3.6V 1.2W Halogen, NZ$950

Any product that claims to "fix" a problem which should be fixed by replacing a part (in this case, likely a seal of some kind) is asking for trouble. This engine probably had a minor leak of some kind, and a broken chain tensioner (it's quite common on the V8's) and the Lucas MAY have pushed it over the edge. I think it would have been a LOT cheaper to have just fixed it the proper way.
-
They're AU$50 on eBay aussie. Shipping isn't listed for NZ though.
-
Good man! Just make sure you get around to putting them in sometime! Mine sat around for a while!

I fitted the new driver door lock, then used the neighbours hoist to do some more of my front suspension overhaul. Fitted some powerflex bushes to the E39, new drop links etc, still have to do tie rods and the entire rear end. And drive belts/tensioners. And the power steering leak. And the rear door membranes. And recode the PDC for 4 sensors instead of 8. I'm getting VERY handy at coding mods too. The software is at least familiar to me now, so I have indicators set for double blink, optical lock.\/unlock confirmation, coded a used LCM from an X5 to not strobe the LED angeleye bulbs, changed the service interval from 2350 Litres to 1800 Litres (don't like long service intervals!) I have a new addiction now

I would generally have a look before buying. I would usually stalk them a bit via a few posts anyway, if I had no idea who they were
-
That looks an awful lot like mine... all you'd have to do is dump a skipful of crap in it, so there is only enough floor showing to drive the 1 car in and out I used to have 4 cars in mine, but now have so much sh*t that 2 is a struggle! Lucky I have a barn too!
-
SWEET! Looks proper BMW now! Good choice!
-
I KNEW that would get snapped up fast! I almost tried it on with the boss, but I'm already in trouble, so thought I best leave it alone! Was a good price for a 540i - I've seen poked 525i tourings for only a bit less than they were asking!
-
Check all the tyre diameters too, if they are off, it can upset the trans.
