you can't heat the thermostats too quickly, or the temp climbs before the stat gets time to absorb the heat properly - Setting my gas cooktop on anything above about 1/2 can heat it too fast for good readings.

Sort of like an E30 in a dress??? I actually like them... 'specially this one!
-
Some shippers don't put your phone number on the paperwork, so you can only be contacted via the delivery address... and maybe that got lost??? Worst I had was 4 days, because notification had to come by mail. Usually I get a phone call the first working day after the tracking page says it's here.

Must have had REALLY good tyres

Do the Chev or Ford clutches actually work yet though??? The bonus with going OEM, is it's going to be as good as OEM - maybe not the ultimate, but very "known"... going with something that's had "variable" results reported could lead to depression down the track

At one stage, we got brand new Hella Halogens for a bit over $600 a pair. E39 halogens are seriously CRAP - my 70's VW Beetle has better lights. The xenons are much better (still quite average though). I'd not consider another set of halogens, if you ever drive at night! Pre facelift might be differnt??? You can replace the lenses easily on the prefacelift, and can get them with clear corners. They are on ebay etc.

BMW Indonesia releases new lightweight 3 series racer!

Someone had too much time on their hands (and bog!) -
What time should we get there?

How good is the AC??? If you pack it in tight, you'll probably find it's still frozen solid at the other end.

ANY engine conversion in a front engine/rear dive car, requires driveshaft hoops... EVEN if you use all factory parts and effectively make it the same as a factory built car. The guy certing it can tell you if you need one, before you go there - just call him and check.
-
I reckon the $200 it's at now should probably be terminal bid point... but it'll probably go higher, then get offered after the auction closes and someone realises what they just "bought"... Sounds like a nightmare, and who knows how badly it's been dicked with.

Parents of a mate of mine had a 4.0 petrol landcruiser... it would have been able to get 1000kms from a tank on a run... ... Of course I recall stopping in the early 90's to put $140 of petrol in it back THEN!

Not heated seats, right?

Waaaaaay off topic, 4WD Van buying thoughts

Which is pretty scary, considering how crap those engines are -
I'll give you $100 for it

Just replace the WHOLE LOT - I used some high temp, high pressure silicone tube and did the whole lot from bottle to jets - no issues now - got rid of shitloads od connections too.
-
"Would you swap it for a jetski?" etc. Have fun with that!

So - what's worse? Tardme or Faceballs???
-
That LOOKS like the original "premium sound" head unit. YES, they were fitted in NZ - didn't someone on here screenprint the BMW Audio label onto them??? I don't know anymore thatn that, but Dads E30 is parked in my Barn, and he's had it 17 or 18 years - HU looks just like your pic above, and it's a 2 owner car, never been dicked with.
-
Genuine Michael-Sports? Maybe they previously owned English cars, and didn't realise you could use a car in the rain???

Is it just me, or does it look like someone siliconed that on??? It's wrong anyway - you need to get the bolt in, before it stuffs the crankshaft. Radiator only takes about 10 mins to get out, but the bolt is tightened to some quite impressive torque : From memory: 2 really fat guys on a long breaker bar, or if you're built like I think you are, you and 4 mates It's actually 410 NM: I used a 1" drive socket set and torque wrench (no!, nobody can borrow it, no it's not mine), WITH a nearly 2M pole on, and the crank pulley holding tool was pushing on the garage floor - it lifted the car a surprising height from the force involved.

E39's only had the 4.4. The cc's were probably entered by the dealers on first rego... Just buy it anyway - if for nothing else, to burn that beige and brown interior!

Well, our first one lasted 14 years, so the replacement should be roughly as good None of the repairers I spoke with inspired any confidence.
