I was joking about the spouting, but not the garden edging
-
Errr... did it have a "750is" badge on it? and yet no M? I reckon someone should put this is an E34 touring... Oh right...

Garden edging from Bunnings. And some marley spouting for sideskirts. = ulitmate kit

It's funny how fallen through sales and hints of "dodginess" influence our decisions. I think you're right to walk away - somethings going on. When we were buying our Model A ford, there were cars we didn't even LOOK at, because they'd been on trademe too long... not even any dodginess, but you get a certain impression. That Commodore seems iffy - even if you factor in the amount of oxygen theifs using Trade me (as buyers), something is going on... surely. You might have to build one

That was LAST saturday!

Hmmm... they're metric, not 15's - there should be another number afterwards, which is the rim size - probably 415 from memory.

Pfffftt! Like that's ever stopped you before

We should start our own club -
Me too... The sound of the 6 is awesome too, and they're happier to rev, and rev higher. Still have to be manual though
-
Haha! My neighbour is a holden man, we had the race on in the background, at a get together at his place. I said how I liked the 90's WAY better, and he said the modern ones were boring too. Pretty much like driving back from auckland We decided the best way to liven it up, was to have half the field go the opposite direction to the other half

There is the secret - wait, while it soaks.

Plus... the 525i (the real one, with the M54, not the jap ones, with the M52 "523i" engine) are actually only marginally less powerful than the 528i, but have the better Vanos system. The 530i is easily the superior engine - that's what I would have got, but I've never seen a manual one in NZ. Of course, whatever it is should be manual, really. The autos suck.

Style 42's, 2 piece... awesome wheels! Car looks good too. Online catalogue pics often show the 1 piece style 42's, which are pretty smaverage. -
Find some 80's and 90's reruns - WAY more interesting The new ones are a bit ghey - basically all racing the same car with different engines in.
-
Excellent! I was very upset for a bit there You're on probationary trial for 3 months now.

You said brush. You're fired.

Oh yeah... the key you have *may* just be a light, not a remote - that's what Dad's E30 had.
-
In Dads E30, we put a cheap remote locking unit from Trademe in. I think it was $35. I fitted it in the boot, because you have a power supply, can hook up to the indicators, and tap into the boot locking to lock and unlock the car. Pretty tamper proof in there too!

There was an E38 750iL up here a few years back, with 500K+ on it... was ex real estate vehicle. My brother-in-law went to look at it, and it was a really nice car, but it sold for more than he was willing to pay - Can't recall the price now, but I was tempted by the start price too, from memory. If that one above was an actual facelift model with the M52TU, one of the last, with the motorsport goodies (and not the badge!) I'd be tempted at close to that price. But not the "old" e38 - they just aren't worth that much (especially so with 400k on it)

6's sound AWESOME! -
It's had a lot of options boxes ticked, for an NZ car. They often missed out. I wonder if it'd still be for dsale, had it been a manual

You need to fix this ASAP. For one thing, a temperature gauge will only read correctly IF it's in coolant - if they level drops below the sensor, they tend to read normal-ish, if that's what the coolant temp was before the loss - I drove a Subaru a VERY long way with no coolant, and the gauge stayed just slightly under normal!. Also, an air lock can stop or reduce coolant flow, and the temperature gauge in the E39's doesn't move above normal until the engine is REALLY hot - at LEAST 115C, but probably higher, especially on the V8's, as the map-controlled themostat ones can run at 110C anyway. The OBC won't warn of high temp until minimum 120C. I'm not familiar with the layout of the cooling system in the V*'s, so can't really help there, but I'd hate to see you cook the motor from coolant loss!

True! I only only know pretty much 2 people with mark 5 golfs - one works at ACC and had 2 diesels, which had trans failures at around 60K. The other was a local Union organiser, and he had a diesel, which had trans failure at about 110K from memory. All 3 just stopped moving suddenly (I think 2 were on the Auckland harbour bridge actually!). I'm not sure what trans they are, but it sounds like DSG from the posts above. the ACC 2 were still under warranty, the other one wasn't, and VW didn't come to the party on it.

Sweet! Now get a towbar, and one of those dog carrier boxes

Sometimes, when you take away the low end, the top feels much more powerful, because the difference is more apparent. A 0-100 time may feel faster, but might BE slower. I'm not familiar with the actual swap, but have heard mixed reports.
