They shouldn't be but the site has had to shift servers once or twice so possible it got lost in transit. Perhaps Josh or James can chip in... They're the technical backbone.

The small bush that connects to the subframe.

2016 C class apparently. Highly generic.

Did they custom make it? An awful lot of people have tried and failed to find an off the shelf replacement for the rear upper control arm bushes. Bit of a PITA to get measurements too as I don't have a garage/hoist! EDIT: Plus I've ordered new arms now and Wokke offers core replacement so a bit cheaper than originally thought (and way cheaper than buying from BMW NZ!!). Just frustrating as I'd planned the overhaul and have been gathering bits as budget allows, now I need to expedite it as there's no point doing the control arms and not doing the rest of the bushings.

Sod's law. The car just failed its WOF on the excessive play in the right rear control arm... The one piece I can't just buy a bushing for. Going to be at least 4-6 weeks before I can get a replacement too which is a bummer. Hopefully in that time I can finish gather all the other bushings together and completely overhaul the rear suspension as planned... Just a bit ahead of schedule so the bank manager/wife won't be pleased.

steering guibo/coupling/knuckle? to fix bump steer
jeffbebe replied to Richard7666's topic in Maintenance
As Ron says, likely to be a combination of things. A worn guibo could result in a bit of play at the steering wheel but the shudder over bumps points to worn shocks. You'll also want to check the steering box and power steering system if you have to turn the wheel a few cms before the wheels engage. The guibo is cheap and easy to replace so I'd recommend doing it regardless but I don't think that alone will fix your issues. Get the shocks and steering box/power steering checked properly and go from there. -
Doubt it. Just check the earths to each cluster and replace the damaged wire. Check the fuses as well.

steering guibo/coupling/knuckle? to fix bump steer
jeffbebe replied to Richard7666's topic in Maintenance
Yep, I'd start by checking the shocks - plenty of places will do shock tests for free, though you can probably see and feel easily enough if they're poked. The steering flex disk is easy and cheap to replace so no harm in doing that too! -
It seems that there isn't an off the shelf solution. Frustrating that BMW won't offer those bearings/bushings as a replacement part, only the complete arms, when pretty much all the other joints are available. Wokke makes replacements at about half the price I've discovered (based on core refund when you return your worn arms) so I guess I'll do that.

steering guibo/coupling/knuckle? to fix bump steer

I replaced mine when trying to solve similar issue. It tightened up the steering a wee bit but the 'bumps' you're experiencing will almost certainly be worn shock absorbers, so I'm afraid it's unlikely to be a $50 fix. -
They're interchangeable. You decide.

Yep, 2014 Challenger SRT8. The on in the pic was Jay Leno's one, I believe.

Yeah, figured as much... Was just kinda hoping someone would say buy a blah blah powerflex bush and bang it in with a hammer. Such is life.

I think it's the accented intake but for some reason it made me think of these:

Gave that up when I left the UK... Way too expensive over here.

I'm currently gathering parts together for a complete rear suspension overhaul for the 8er. Most of the bushings are available on their own as many are shared with other models, but the bearings in the rear control arms (#10 in the diagram) don't have a part number. Have scoured the boards and it seems no-one has been able to come up with a compatible bearing to fit. At $300+ each for the control arms (more if I buy local) I'd really like to find a cheaper version and wondered if any clever engineer types think they might be able to adapt another bushing to fit.

I have soft spot for these: And these: One of them is considerably more attainable than the other!

Many (many) moons ago, when I was troubled youth, my friends and I used to bike through the streets of Cambridge (UK) on (usually) 'borrowed' push bikes under the influence of this, that and the other. There are lots of narrow residential streets in Cambridge with cars parked the length of them on both sides all day and night. We'd ride down said streets, legs akimbo, booted-feet aimed perfectly at wing mirrors. 5 points for bending it back, 25 for breaking it off. Not proud of it, but just pointing out that said theft was more likely plain old vandalism. Have a look in your hedge or nearby bins and you might find your busted wing mirrors. Apologies to anyone whose mirror I broke 25+ years ago.

So much want a set of those for the 8er!
