17s will be okay but race tyres will be more expensive than 15s or 16s I'd imagine.

Plenty of M50 supercharger kits available. Why not see if one of the companies that offers these will sell a set of injectors separately?

And at the opposite end of the scale...

Bargain for someone with a six cyl E39 and shipping ex UK is usually pretty competitive: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-E39-Touring-AC-Schnitzer-Front-Rear-Suspension-Shocks-Springs-/291392045770?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43d851c2ca

The car will eat those roads up... The only thing that will suffer is my wallet; it also likes to eat up a fair chunk of fuel!
-
Stunning! Still haven't seen it in the flesh but Martin and I are contemplating a road trip up your way!!

Agreed because a set of 15-18 year old airbags aren't going to be up to much now.

Instrument Cluster Needle gauges removal tool. Anybody has one?
jeffbebe replied to dkonsta1's topic in Electrical system
Bugger... I've never touched the needles myself and always used Robinsons... To much room for error. Ray (HellBM) or Brent (BM World) will have a replacement cluster. -

If I can drop in on Sunday morning you can take it for a run. Very different beast to the 540i, feels a lot more old school but I like that. Would have loved to have driven it with the original EDC but too difficult/expensive to fix/replace.

Decided to let the pros fit this little lot as it was going to be a while before I could get a hoist to use (and convince my better half to let me spend more weekends not wining and dining her!!). The difference is outrageous.... Wow! So good. No just need to do the rear....

Alpina B7 Turbo 3 for auction (Japan)

Yes please! -
I thought E46 as well but the centre bore would be the same as mine. E39s also came with these wheels - I guess some had 15s. You need the same size spare as I do!

I've got a spare style 46. 15x7 5x120. Was in my car as a spare but has the wrong centre bore so maybe from an E39. Free to a good home - or even better, swaps for one that will fit my car!

That is weird... Is the diff mount hydraulic? If it has fluid in it I guess they may have removed it to test... Still seems very strange. Probably more likely the opened the box to check and forgot to put the mount back in. Either way you should get in touch with customs.

They're not spare... I just haven't found time to put them where they're meant to go!

Both are poked so yes. Good service, yes, but bad advice on the clear coat. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Spoke to the guy at Arkro. He was actually really helpful, apologised and offered to redo for nothing as well as saying he'd let me check the masking before going ahead. Will obviously avoid the clear coat next time - it looked great but too fragile - now just got to get the f*ckers off again
-
Love those big boxes of parts... Until I have to find the time to fit it all. Got a box of little parts in the shed that I've never got round to using... Can't remember what half of them are now and have to look up all the part numbers to see where they go! haha
-
If Arkro won't redo it for free or discounted I'll definitely be taking them elsewhere. My mistake but it was bad advice on their part... Plus Martin and I had some problems with bolt holes they hadn't masked properly.

Famous last words. Experienced the highs and lows of DIY maintenance today. Here's the engine looking pristine and running beautifully (despite my mallet/boot strut)... Then I did something without thinking that I've done many times before - sprayed a bit of throttle body cleaner to ensure there are no vac leaks - and faaarrrrkkk!! Turns out throttle body cleaner eats powder clear coat. Here are the manifolds now... Not a pretty sight. I've tried to cut it out but got to bare metal on the raised 'ribs' in no time. Looks like the manifolds will have to come off again and go back to the powdercoater. Although it's my (costly) mistake, I'm really pissed off that the Arkro recommended a clear coat that's so susceptible to chemicals for an engine bay part. I've powdercoated without a clear and never had this problem. Ridiculous.

Thanks chaps... It's getting there but still much to do! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Back together and the engine is now running beautifully after a stuttery start... Still need to do some painting in the engine bay but it'll require some careful masking so haven't got round to it yet. The engine cover needs repainting as well, I tried to cure it in situ last time and it just didn't work as the sound deadening rubbed on it before the paint had properly cured. Then the strut bar can go back on. All up this job took a lot of man hours and that was with help from Martin. Now that I've done it once I could do it again in half the time... But I really don't want to!
