I reckon it'll look perfect with a 20-25mm drop on 17s. 18s will look a bit rollerskatey.

Aww, man. That's bad luck. Hope you can get it fixed but if not you should be able to recoup your investment by parting it out. At least you can get a 540i now (preferably an insured one!).

Actually, there are still a few little bits of nasty yellow which I probably won't be able to get rid of until I remove the intakes but it looks pretty good in the interim!

I have a 3.15 open diff... But large case, so probably not much good to you.

Yep, that's him. Now owns a total of 11 8ers, including the press car csi Jeremy Clarkson drove on Top Gear (back in 1994), one of only 57 Alpina B12 5.7s ever built, an M8 replica race car and now a twin turbo ACS 850i. Quite a collection!!
-
Alan (the owner of the blue 850csi) just bought that ACS 850 with twin turbo setup from TM. He's going to finish it off for track/road. Reckon it'll be faster than his M8 replica rave car!!

Curing the clear coat by driving! Still got some cleaning and polishing to do but it's looking a lot better under there now! Also chipped the DMEs. Seat pants test says okay! It was very quick to do so I'm confident I can swap them between dyno runs to check if the seat of my pants is correct.

Ha! You're probably right or we'd be driving cheaper, faster cars! Also - from a personal point of view - my cars probably reflect my abilities which are mostly form related (though I'm getting better with the function bit everyday!).

haha! Which was yours? Took a pic of a very nice sounding E30. I'll post some pics later on.

Oh yes!! Also saw some other very nice bimmers at Caffeine and Classics. In particular, an E24 M6.

Tony (Westy) probably.

Clean the leather with lux soap flakes then use a good quality conditioner like Hide Food. It's a myth you should condition regularly, it's actually bad for the leather. Clean it up properly once, condition it, seal it (most furniture stores sell sealers) then just wipe clean once a month with a damp cloth.

Slowly melt a whitaker's milk chocolate bar in a pan of milk and stir constantly. Allow to cool. Voila. Chocolate milk for around $5. Or just don't drink chocolate milk and live longer.

The boot's not so comfortable for the dogs in the 8, I'm afraid. Can chuck the little one on the front seat but the big one plays havoc with the leather!!

Tidying up the engine bay at the moment in preparation for Bimmerfest on Nov 15-16. Starting with the engine cover. So far I've attacked it with some rough sandpaper, will be moving onto some fine finishing paper before repainting. Got my helpers in on the action: The rubber gasket that attaches to it so it fits snugly over the manifolds is in pretty good nick but has a crispy coating of old, brown grease/oil which I'm not sure how to remove.... Suggestions?

Judging by the sugar and fat content I'd say it's life-shortening rather than life changing.

Ah yes, of course. I meant PFL is fugly on E90 and E92, FL marginally better on E90 and fantastic on E92 but E91 would be my pick.
-
Agreed. I was happy to DIY small or unobtrusive parts but sunroof and front bumper are out of my league.

It'll feel like a new car when everything's done.

I reckon the E9X wagon is by far the best all rounder in terms of looks and practicality. Doubtless a 335i wagon will be the most expensive and hardest option to find, however. E9X sedans and E90 coupes are fugly. E92 coupes look great but probably the least practical. As for what to look for, never owned one so can't comment.

I need to paint a lower front spoiler, rear diffuser, wing mirrors and sun roof. The spoiler, mirrors and diffuser will require little prep but the sun roof needs a few rust spots treated and sealed before painting. Was thinking of doing the mirrors and diffuser myself but wondered if I might be able to get a good deal somewhere if I get them all done at the same time. Will need to coincide with replacing the headliner so I don't have to remove the sun roof twice. Any suggestions of someone who can do a reasonable job on a budget?

You'll love the 530i... Until you drive the 540i.
