  1. Wish I had the space and equipment to paint. Would love to return the 8 back to red (or something wilder) but massive $$$ for a decent job now that it's been painted black. I'd happily spend days masking if it meant affordable painting!!!
  2. Not sure about the 530i but they're plastic on the 540i... Go figure. Still, if they built them too well nobody would need a new one.
  3. I meant the plastic not the price TBH, Glenn!!
  4. Nope... Clear goes yellow and you can't polish it properly! Best to leave it bare metal and keep it clean and polish regularly!!
  5. On...
  6. Never welded anything so not sure I should pop my cherry with my pride and joy!! Haha
  7. Plastic valve covers??? Eh?? There is a cosmetic plastic cover but the actual valve cover is magnesium alloy (which is why they oxidise badly). You can overtightened the bolts and split the rubber grommets though which could cause a leak.
  8. Slowly. Need to drill new holes as the ones the PO drilled are too low. Trouble is they're quite close together so may need to fill/weld the old ones first... Might need your welding skills, mate!
  9. Macweld in Drury. $50 per wheel for the lips and another $100 for some welds and repairs (one had a minor buckle).
  10. Oh yes!!!!
  11. Picture no.3 would look good in the front of an 8er.
  12. Loving your collection Ray, so good to see a chunk of them today, particularly the progress on the M3 wagon!! Epic.
  13. Spotted Tristan in his E92 M3 in the Auckland Domain. Looks great with the new spoiler (and new engine!).
  14. Don't get me wrong, Dave, I love RCs on the right car (they have a very similar spoke pattern to the RSIIs I had on the 540i) I just think they're a bit too busy for the 8... And the concave dish isn't as good as a fat lip on these cars!! They look amazing on E36 and E39 though!
  15. It's not a schnitzer lip, it's a lip from the OE BMW 'aerodynamic' kit. Plenty of ABS plastic reps on eBay for under $100. Buy from one that doesn't charge the earth in international shipping and isn't selling a badly fitting FRP rep that'll crack on the first kerb it meets.
  16. New shocks and springs... Can't wait to get the M pars back on. Very kind of James (Boowhup) to loan the RCs but they don't do it for me on the 8 (although they look a darn sight better now that the wheel arch gap is smaller). Fitted the new shocks into the existing EDC struts so need to find something to plug the holes too...
  17. Looking good, Tony! Are you going to fabricate the airbox or is there something available that'll fit?

Front from my 8 rear is from an E38. As I say, not 100% on the offset and I'm away at the moment so can't check. Will get back to you asap.
  19. It's an E39 not E46. Looks in good nick but lots of things can go wrong past 100K kms if they're not attended to. Check cooling system, vanos and suspension in particular. Can't believe how cheap these have got on the last couple of years.
  20. $9400 with almost a week to go... Had no idea any E36 besides an M3 could fetch that kind of money, especially 211K kms on the clock.

I'll check it Ken. 13 and 20 might be wrong but haven't got the wheels yet.
  22. Whatever you say, John. Didn't notice it flashing and pretty dangerous if the indicator is now a white light... And if it changes to amber... Well, it didn't. EDIT: You're right about the lentils though!

May have a set of genuine M parallels with polished lips available soon. 18x8 front (et13, I think) and 18x8.5 rear (et20, maybe). No kerbing, high polish finish like these: Suit E36s perfectly:
  24. Aawww... I'm gonna miss the side exhaust. How does she sound?
