Who'd have thought their TM pics would be so 'revealing'.

Awesome, Glenn. I hope you cleaned the seats... Looks like the PO liked to watch movies of old men in hot tubs.

Looks reasonably accessible.... Famous last words.

Something for the weekend...

Alan Ferguson has put a whole lot of his time and own money into getting a Bimmerfest event off the ground. The first one is next weekend to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the 8 series but is open to everyone with a twilight track session at HD (for only $75!!) and a cruise and lunch on the Sunday. I've been chatting to him about it and helping where I can but I think it would make good sense to support him and build on what he's started rather than setting up a competing event. With a proper structure we'd also be able to avoid clashes with things like the race series!

I've got a pair of fully reconditioned DK motors (electronic throttle bodies) for an M70 V12 and a large case 3.15 open diff. The diff actually has an E34 535is backing plate so is more likely to fit an E34 than anything else. Looking for $350 each for the throttle bodies (they are basically brand new) and I'll take $100 for the diff. Will post some pics soon.

I've got a spare brand new handbrake shoe if needed, Adeeb.

Thanks Rod. I think we'll need to digitally print as the designs are full colour. Graham! That's who I was thinking of. Yeah, he's been pretty quiet for a while but did post about his Targa exploits recently, I think. Will drop him a line too.

Unless my new shocks and universal joint turn up in time I'll be taking it pretty cautiously anyway! Just be fun to get it out there with the other 8s.

Come on everyone, let's get behind this. Sure, it's a shame that timing clashes with the race series but the organisers had to take what was available. The BMW Club haven't put a lot of effort in to it so it's been left to a couple of people to try and put it together and it would be a massive shame if it doesn't thrive and get another chance next year when the wrinkles can be ironed out. Anyways, I'm booked and paid and looking forward to seeing a few 8s celebrating 25 years plus everything and anything that people care to bring along for a bit of fun.

Hey all. Looking for a good/cheap/quality tee shirt printer for Bimmerfest on 15-16th November. I seem to remember someone on here has an apparel/printing company but can't remember who. Anyway, if it's you, please own up. If not, please recommend good printers (ideally in Auckland). Over and out

Let's bring it to the next Coffee and Cars in December and we can do leak tests for people. I've also got tiny ADS OBD adapter so can hopefully scan some of the older cars.

New hose clamps and finally got round to replacing the LH bank ignition leads (they were working okay but I had to do the RHS so just did the full set). About as clean as I can get the bay for now until I remove intake manifolds and valve covers... Have been advised that I should do this sooner rather than later thanks to a common issue with loosening banjo bolts (which will ultimately wreck the cams if not treated): Plenty of good solutions though: http://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?2088697-M70-S70-owners-Have-you-checked-your-banjo-bolts

Agreed. Exactly when can you possibly utilise a 650bhp rollerskate on NZ roads? Fair enough if it was a race car but I don't think that's your plan. Hope it doesn't wind up as a statistic instead of your dream car.

How deep is the tread, Adeeb? Doesn't look much in the pics but they can be deceptive? If 5mm+ I could be keen. Need a new set of 245/40s for the front soonish. EDIT: Also, how old are the tyres? Manufacture date should be on there somewhere.

Yes, but one's like driving a go kart on steroids and the other's like piloting a 2 tonne missile... I'm all for the nuke!!
-
Just make sure it's an M135i. I drove one at Hampton and it was bags of fun but on the road I'd take the power and comfort of the M5 any day of the week.
-
You're upgrading to a.... 135i? Eh?
-
It's looking so good, Martin. Hard to believe how far it's come since you picked it up. You do need to polish those tailpipes though!
-
Looks good.

I probably will be keen when I put in a six speed!

Yeah, wanted them tidied up for Bimmerfest but knew I wouldn't have time to do the full intake removal, etc (which is still on my to do list). I just used some wire brushes and a bit of elbow grease and had a vacuum cleaner running to suck up all the dust. I started with wire brush drill bits but it didn't give a very even polish (there are still some swirls). I repainted the engine cover and sanded all the shite off the gasket... It looks good but as I haven't got a paint bay and it was a windy weekend there are a few blemishes in the paint but nothing catastrophic. Will put it up as a DIY at some point.
