  1. Next project (well, one of many on the go) is the CSi kit. Test fitted the rear diffuser last night and that's going to be fine with a bit of sanding, etc. I've picked up a cheap genuine front spoiler which just needs some minor repairs and a repaint. Once painted and fitted the car should go from this: To this: The mirrors will be a bit harder work. I have a set of cheap E36 M3 mirrors and some of Thomas Engl's adapter plates. His plates are cast metal of the original E31 plate, so I'll need to hollow out the adapter so I can fit the plates (the bits with screws in them) from the E36 mirrors that hold that the actual mirror clips into. Haven't sussed out how I'll fix them yet... Could tap for screws but wonder whether some small bolts might work better. Engl's ones are unfinished too so will need a fair bit of sanding... Will still work out way cheaper than a set of OE ones.
  2. Thanks Lucan. Hoping to find correct centre bore but will drop you a line if I have no luck. Cheers Kyu.
  3. Think you misunderstand me... I was talking about watching the racing and having a beer. Those on the track will have to abstain.
  4. I'd like to see it combined with some actual BMW racing.... Just putting out there. Driving on the track is great fun... Seeing people doing it properly whilst having a beer and a hot dog is also MAGIC!
  5. Reviving this as I'm finally about to get the wheels done and, unfortunately (for me), Darin has just sold the Breytons he had offered to loan me. My fault for dawdling but now I need some wheels... Or an extra pair of stands (Martin!). Box of beers and a promise of extreme care in it for the lucky donor.
  6. Going to meet up with Alan Ferguson soon for a debrief and tabling some ideas (not dissimilar to yours) for next year. Bigger, better, summerier and no major clashes.
  7. Wasn't really the day to go nuts on normal road tyres... Whatever the car.
  8. I think everyone struggled a bit in the wet, Amber, don't worry about it! At least you stayed on the track... Not everyone managed that!!
  9. 'First Start'? Was it really? Or was this the second start because the first time you didn't video it until Will hassled you?
  10. Amber... Here you go. You're in front of Brent for the first 4 mins or so, so plenty of action! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQMpV1335no#t=212
  11. I didn't see it but I think someone said he went off on the long sweeper before the straight... I doubt he would have slowed down any on the grass!
  12. Yeah, still great fun though but grip was definitely in issue. I definitely had a few traction issues in corner one and the long sweeper to keep me on my toes. This muppet did not do so well... After spinning twice in the warm up laps behind the pace car he opted to head out with the race cars instead of the other 8s (lucky for us 8ers, I reckon!) and promptly crashed into the tire wall. Classic example of underestimating the car and overestimating his ability. New parts car likely to be for sale soon with full csi kit!!
  13. You could have made one in less time than it took to write that post.
  14. Sorry Amber, I gave my camera to someone else to take pics and they were obviously an 8er fan! Hope you enjoyed tracking your E46 though... Despite the rain!
  15. Sorry, didn't get to chat Steve but I couldn't help but notice your car. It sounds insane!!!
  16. A few pics from today... What a great event!! Pity about the rain but it made the track time a bit more interesting (especially for the egg who span his 850 twice during the familiarisation laps then took it out with the race cars and promptly crashed... Waste of a decent 850, but at least there'll be a csi kit up for grabs when it gets written off and parted out!). There were twelve 8s but only 10 made the grid after one of the CSIs burst an AHK seal in the wet and the 850 hit the wall. Apologies... I missed most of the non-8 cars of which there were plenty!!
  17. What wheels are you putting on? Those look great. I reckon it would be perfect if it was an inch or so higher so the top of the wheel is in line (or just below) the level of the arch... And on those wheels.
  18. Ah I thought had a schnitzer tip. Just find a better supersprint tip that fits! EDIT: Shouldn't be difficult!
  19. I'd argue Supersprint is a better brand than Schnitzer...
  20. Can you not just cut the tip and replace with a pair of nice chrome tips?
  21. Clears look outdated to me. Sooo last decade.
  22. There are enough like-minded folks to make it well worth while IMO. Our monthly coffee and cars meeting is proof of that. It's not massive but it's growing and there are no dicks and all bimmers (apart from Mike's Soarer but he obligingly parks around the corner). We mostly talk about the cars, what we've done, what we plan to do, etc and it's less about show and shine. Amber's Euro Car Club seems to be going really well and meets the needs of a different crowd and is a great opportunity to 'show-off' your hard work and there's also Caffeine and Classics at Smales Farm which is open to all cars and is great fun too in a different way. The forum's plenty big enough to support all of these things and there are some plans behind the scenes to get some other activities going, so don't be put off if someone doesn't "like" your post within 10 seconds of posting.
  23. I think the ACS styling on your car is better than a lot of their efforts but what were they thinking with the pig nose exhaust and aroused PDC! PS Orange indicators would look great on this colour.
