  1. Fair enough... Will keep looking.
  2. It actually looks like it's already visited the crusher, Will. Hoping this is a prank. If not, what a dropkick.
  3. Thanks Tony. No hurry... Think the E39 centre bore is wrong though (74.1 instead of 72.6). I suppose some hubcentric rings would work as it's only temporary.
  4. Thanks matey... It's definitely an option as I don't use the 8 daily. Would prefer to keep it driveable if possible though.
  5. ... lend me a set of wheels for a week or so while my M Pars are refurbished? I need 16-18", between 8-10J wide (non-staggered is fine), et 15-25mm, centre bore 72.6mm (which is fairly standard I think for most bimmers but E39 wheels won't fit. All offers considered, box of beers (or similar) for the winner!
  6. I've made my feelings known about black wheels in the past but yours look good... Just not as good as they would be in silver Love the new spoiler, that with the cf roof and mirrors makes the car stand out... No further cosmetics necessary IMO. Just get those 2000kms out the way so you can go for a hoon!
  7. Nice work, Ken. Interested to know roughly what everyone saved... Was it $$$s and well worthwhile? Also, wondering how many of you bought stuff you didn't really need... So a bit of a false economy (I know I considered it!!).
  8. I've got some Canola you can borrow EDIT: Joking aside... Great job. Wish I'd known youse fullas when we were renovating!!
  9. The ABS has given up on my 1991 850i however the dash check light is not lit (bulb is not blown as it lights at start up). Unfortunately, I have not been able to (actually Josh hasn't been able to) scan the car and nor have a number of experienced BMW service agents locally. Josh is determined to solve the diagnostics issue but I'm wondering what manual ways I can easily test what's wrong with the ABS. If it was the pump or control unit I'd expect the dash light to trigger... Would I be right? I can probably get a working control unit so can test that easily but don't want to start switch pumps unless I know it's the root problem. Thanks in advance internet people.
  10. Sweet... Just got to find someone who can do a good job of the M pars that I can afford!
  11. Yep. You can leave it machined (like a lot if modern wheels) and you'll see and feel the very thin grooves from the lathe on the lip. Polishing gives a perfectly smooth finish.
  12. They look good, Milan. Ideally, I'd like mine machined then polished (so you can't see any machining lines but you get the even machined finish). My old BBS RSIIs had a polished lip - not machined - and you could see the dimples but it was very shiny! Also wasn't clear coated but was a separate lip so easy not to damage the centre paint. Did you have any problems with the autosol wearing the paint round the edges?
  13. Most wheel refurbishers should be able to do it, Andy. Just require some hand polishing on the rim and careful masking and painting on the centres. Am guessing you'd need to clear coat the whole thing to avoid the paint chipping a long the mask line where the polished lip begins
  14. Thought 20mm spacers were the max allowable... Or did I just make that up?
  15. You must be over the moon! Will be good to see it out and about again.
  16. Mine's leaking - it's a longshot but figure it would be cheaper to get a used working one than try and repair.
  17. Yeah... Enough already.
  18. I hear you re: contrast but I really don't like dark wheels. If I did it, it would be as per the picture - with the centres painted the original light silver - or not at all.
  19. Not sure what you mean, Dave? Entire lip is polished on those. Perhaps the photograph makes it looks as though it's not.
  20. Wouldn't normally consider polishing the lips on a one-piece wheel but saw these on eBay and think they look pretty decent. Thoughts?
  21. $6K! Ray, that's a steal.... Lucky you didn't offer that to me or you might be down one S62 right now!! Edit: Also a pity Lachie didn't check the boards before buying that Silverstone one. He might not be in the predicament he's in... Should have kept the Avus one, Lachie! I see it now and again and the new owner has done a great job restoring it! Looks mint!!
  22. I've looked into it. I reckon best bet is to import a whole car from the UK. You should be able to land one with a decent engine for sub $20K including shipping and tax and you could make a decent chunk of that back parting everything you don't need.
  23. This may be a silly question but you did use sealant on the required points, didn't you? If not, it's going to leak oil. Would have to be majorly warped to leak when tightened otherwise.
  24. ^ this works. Also, have just remembered that last time I filled up the pump did, in fact, not shut off until fuel spilled over the top, so I seem to have the opposite problem!
