Have had a very reasonable quote to redo the headlining in my car and probably going to opt for black or charcoal grey. But the contractor quote to repaint the light grey interior fixings (grab rail, sun visors, coat hooks, etc) was ridiculous ($300 for 2 visors, one grab rail and two small coat hooks). As a result I'm going to repaint the interior fixings myself and wondered if anyone's got any experience or good advice on technique and products. Was looking at the Duplicolor range that Supercheap stock (they do a flat black and charcoal grey). I notice VHT do a range as well - anyone tried both?

K55 is the Racing Dynamics 850i.

Bad wheel choices are bad no matter what the car though...

It's the CSi kit (or a rep of it), either way I think it's the best but have seen a few pics lately of other front lips that look the goods:

Don't agree... It all depends on the wheel (though anything bigger than 19" on an E31 is a bit crazy). Mine has factory 18" M Parallels and they look perfect. Those deep dish ACS 3 piece wheels are 17s, I believe, and most of the deep dish wheels that suit look best at around 17". Stock wheels were also 17". The 18" Alpina wheels look great on these cars too but I have seen some with bigger wheels that look good.

Bit low for my taste, Darren. Plus I'd lose the bumper spoiler, sump and side skirts every time I drove in and out of my office car park!

Yep. Already had a yarn to him about his chips. The EML one for the M70 sounds particularly good.

Or yellow... which has been on my mind a bit since seeing this:

You should, Tom! It's been a while. Baby monitors were invented so you can work on your car while your baby's sleeping!!

Mate... Life has a habit of getting in the way of important car stuff, so you have to take what time you can get!!

The better half is rightly a bit p*ssed off with me spending time most weekends working on the new car so I thought a day of cutting and polishing probably wouldn't go down too well. Instead, I've been sneaking down to the carpark at work at lunchtimes and doing it in sections. Took it out in the daylight today and boom... Shiny. Still got the wings and bumpers to do then a full wax job so might be another week of lunch breaks but the paint's looking a lot healthier than it did, though it still has a few scratches.

I thought it was just another Auckland murder crime scene.

Almost certainly to do with supply and demand... There are bajillions of E46s and almost as many E39s around but unmolested E36s and E34s are getting hard to find... Hence the price - for a decent one - is going up (EDIT: or at least not going down).

Understood... I decided in the end to try and keep the interior stock so the modern wheel would look a bit out of place I think.
-
Either way it's nasty. Saw a couple of interesting cars yesterday... A silver E64 M6 vert in the Video Ezy car park in Ponsonby and a brand new and hopeful white 428i with the license plate 4M.

haha! Thanks Allan, but I'm going to pass... Don't want to see you out of pocket.

Don't get me wrong, Nick, I loved Knight Rider... I just don't want to own (K)it.

Agreed. If they genuinely didn't fit - although he didn't strike me as someone who didn't know what size would fit - then a quick PM to say they didn't fit and that he'd be listing them would have been enough for me to say c'est la vie and good luck (and good on him if he gets a bit more).
-
I took them off TM and sold them for less than my asking price to the guy because he contacted me via bimmersport and said they were for his car.
-
Yep, that's it, Ray. It was a factory option on a lot of the later model 840s. This is Ross' one, right? Love that Barbados Green... So sexy!
-
Not worried about the cash and happy with what I got... It's the principle. A man must have principles!
-
Wouldn't have bothered me if I'd just sold them on TM then someone resold and got more... That's business. But when someone claims bimmersport rights and talks about fitting them to their car then sells at a higher price... That's when it's cheeky.

Won't out him on here... I suppose a little part of me is hoping the tyres didn't fit or there was some other reason he put them up for sale immediately at $200 more than he bought them.
