Bound to happen following this rather incendiary little post!
-
Haven't noticed it as an issue.

Yours will almost certainly have the flat pin connector, Adeeb. Pretty certain all of the widescreen monitors came with the updated plug.

I tell you what's a really good idea... Posting in a public forum how you're only in it for the money and don't give a sh*t about anyone. Your customers will love that kind of vision statement. Tell you what, you might have enough money to buy a couple of used 7ers, Toby, but you obviously ain't got the coin to pay a PR company yet. Or if you have, they're desperately searching for the delete button on your thoughtless posts, to earn their keep.

Thanks Ken. Hoping to source most stuff locally but will drop you a line if there's anything I can't get (or is too expensive) here.

And measuring your success in life by your Facebook likes and the size of your purse is really depressing.
-
That is one of the saddest things, I think I've ever read. I pity you. I imagine, like other people who have given up on life, that you also wear crocs.

Wolf reckons just under 40hp at the crank but says the EML (throttle controller) chip is the one that makes all the difference. I need to get a base dyno before I install so not sure how soon it'll happen.

Today... Oh... And these! Fun!

Ahh... My old whip. I saw her this arvo as well. Looked and sounded excellent. The new owner lives locally so I see it quite a bit.

ha! It's actually blue/red msport stitching but looks white in the bright sunlight.

Ha! Yes, ran out of sand paper and hacksaw blades!

$20 fleabay special, Dave. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dual-Car-Cigarette-Lighter-Power-Plug-Socket-Charger-Adapter-with-4-USB-Port-/171352093647?pt=AU_MobilePhoneAccessories&hash=item27e56173cf You can get it with lighter, USB or voltmeter - so you could do 4 x USB if you need to charge a whole lotta stuff. EDIT: Had to cut/sand to fit obviously but not hard to do.

That leather colour!

Oh, and picked up a really cheap fefurb'd Tech II M3 steering wheel ($250 inc shipping) from eBay. Smaller and thicker than the stock wheel. Looks and feels amazeballs... Best investment so far!!

I don't smoke (anymore) and noone's gonna be smoking in the 8 so I thought I'd turn the ashtray into something more practical. I used Frankie's DIY as inspiration: http://www.frankies-bmw.com/8series/diy/cup_holder/bmw_8series_cup_holder.php Brent donated an old cup holder for the trial run, I'll replace with a new one if I'm happy with the finished project. Happy so far...

The general consensus is that the 850i with a set of Wokke chips (particularly the EML chip) and 3.91 LSD makes a very lively and very quick GT car. Suggested figures are around 337bhp at the crank but it sounds like it's the EML (electronic throttle body controller) chip that makes all the difference. Can imagine that plus a manual gearbox or a gearbox chip for the 4 speed until I can find/afford a V12 manual, would be more than enough fun for me and I can't get over how good the 8 looks. Did see a set of Schnitzer chips for sale on eBay for around half the Wokke chips but can't find any decent reviews. It does include EML and DME chips.

Currently running 3.15. Have seen a 3.64 LSD that is very tempting. Forums says 3.91 E34 M5 LSD is a common upgrade for the 4speed 850s.
-
If we had a long enough road I think the 850 would win... Eventually. But it's a lot slower low down, though still no slouch. What I really meant is that putting the s62 into such a heavy car probably won't make the night and day difference of the M5 v 850... And for the same money I could do a lot with the M70. Who knows though... The idea of an S62 8er is very tempting.
-
Darren, any doubts I had about the M70 are gone. It's still not running perfectly but once I've finished the remedial and got some decent chips, I think it will be hard to justify an S62 conversion... The manual is still a must.

Will get a sound clip at the weekend... In the meantime, some porn: Also picked up a couple of working ignition leads to fix the weak spark on cylinders 2 and 3. Quick rangi job with some cable ties rather than remove the entire harness just so I could drive it home... What a difference! Lightyears better performance, acceleration and fuel consumption. Throttle's still pretty jumpy but the recon'd DK motors should sort that out. Very happy.

It looks like the house a builder would build if my five year old son drafted the plans.

I get a lot of genuine parts very cheaply from Estonia, Adeeb. Hope you're loading up your suitcase!! Not as bad as this monstrosity on Rose Road, Kurt.

My Magnaflow boxes and new tips arrived. Got them fitted today at Pitstop, Grey Lynn. All up including fitting less than $750. Looks, sounds and feels better. Now need to fit the rear diffuser to tidy up the back. Sorry about the shite pics. Will take some proper pics soon and get a vid/audio recording as soon as I've got cylinders 2 and 3 sparking properly.
